The copper ore processing plant of the Tay Bac Minerals Joint Stock Company has been designed and operated to produce metallic copper from copper sulphide ores and copper oxide ores in Son La province. Copper sulphide ores are processed to produce copper concentrates with content of more than 20% Cu for the next processing stage, while copper oxide ores, with average content of 1÷3% Cu and after grinding, are fed directly into hydrometallurgical processes to extract copper. However, this process requires large amount of chemicals. Therefore, the economic efficiency is not high. The National Institute of Mining - Metallurgy Science and Technology has researched and proposed a reasonable technology process for Son La copper oxide ores for solving difficulties and perfecting the processing technology at the plant that improves economic efficiency and minimizes environmental pollutions. This report presents results of the experimental production research project with the code CNKK.013.19, implemented by the Institute of Materials Science and sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Subject area Crisis management, Strategic management. Study level/applicability This case study can be used for teaching MBA and pre-experience Masters students as part of a strategic management course. Case overview This case study tells the story of Kirov non-ferrous metals processing plant located in Kirov (USSR, presently the Russian Federation). Founded in 1956, this company had long been one of the USSR's leading manufacturers in the industry of non-ferrous metals processing. The situation changed dramatically in the first half of 1990s. During those years, instead of state-planned economy, Russia saw the formation of market economy. It was the first time when the company (as a result of privatization, it became a joint-stock company with a small number of pure portfolio investment owners) was faced with the need to look for marketing outlets for its products on its own. At the same time, after having been privatized, the company could not receive government investments anymore. Due to all these conditions, in 1995, capacity utilization in this company fell to 16 per cent, and it appeared to be on the verge of bankruptcy. Expected learning outcomes The main learning objectives of the case study are: to develop students' skills to analyze complex managerial situations; to help students in understanding the logic of company's strategic choice, depending on the stage of the market life cycle (especially, in case of mature markets); and to provide the training for the students' ability to justify management decisions using the example of companies in B2B markets. The work is devoted to a very topical issue - predicting quality indicators in underground mining of ore deposits. In this work, the conditions and ways of improving the quality of ores during mining were studied on the example of deposits of rich ores in the northern flanks of the Talnakh and Oktyabrsky deposits of Talnakh. The studies were carried out in specific conditions at the mining enterprises of the Polar Division of the Public Joint Stock Company Mining and Metallurgical Company Norilsk Nickel. The northern deposits of the Talnakhskoye deposit represent the main prospect for replenishing the retired production capacities for the extraction of high-grade ores. The significant heterogeneity of the distribution of the metal content in industrial reserves of rich copper-nickel ores is the primary cause of high fluctuations in the quality of ore flow, which requires the use of the most advanced mining technologies to control the quality of ores during extraction. The process of forming the required quality level of mined ores at the mines of the Polar Division of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel is of paramount importance. However, during the development of deposits of «rich» ores in the ore stream «mine - processing plant», significant fluctuations in the quality of the ore mass are formed, which lead to losses of metals in the process of concentration and during metallurgical redistribution, thereby reducing the economic efficiency of the entire mining and metallurgical complex, as determines the relevance of the work.

The formation of hydrophobized nutria fur velour has been carried out using the optimized alkenmalein acrylsyntane composition. Based on the implementation of the synthesized experimental plan “composition-properties of velour” by the modified McLean-Anderson method, the optimization of filling and hydrophobizing composition has been performed by Harrington method. The optimized composition involves the use of, wt. %: alkenmalein polymer – 54.1, polyacrylic emulsion Melio Resin A-821 – 18.8, reagent based on 2-naphtholesulfonic acid and dioxins-phenylsulfone – 27.1. The developed technology of forming hydrophobized nutria velour has been tested at the experimental production of leather enterprise (Chinbar Private Joint Stock Company, Kyiv, Ukraine). Nutria fur velour obtained by the developed technology is characterized by a significant increase in water resistance in dynamic conditions. The advantage of this technology is the production of fur velour with a higher yield of 5.4–5.6 % compared to the semi-finished chromium-aluminum tanning. The optimized filling and hydrophobizing composition can be effectively used in the technologies of manufacturing sheepskin and leather materials with high water resistance. According to the complex of properties, the obtained hydrophobized nutria velour is suitable for the production of uncovered items of various purposes, which will be used in extreme conditions.

The aim of the study was to assess the professional risk of developing diseases in workers of the railway car repair enterprise. The Voronezh Car Repair Plant, a branch of Vagonremmash Joint-Stock Company, was chosen as the object of study. Methods: «The methodology for calculating individual occupational risk depending on the working conditions and the health status of the employee», developed by the Klin Institute for Protection and Working Conditions in conjunction with the Research Institute of Occupational Medicine (2013), the main professions; cohort study with the calculation of the relative risk of morbidity with temporary disability, the odds ratio, the etiological share of factors in the formation of morbidity (group size: 250 people, experimental group — workers of the main specialties, 95 people — comparison group). Results. According to the research results, the priority factors of occupational health risk include: chemical, noise, heating microclimate, low light level. For certain professions, the share of the contribution of priority factors to the risk profile (PV) reaches 40 %. The indicator of individual occupational risk is 0.12 to 0.26 units. The high level of professional risk (0.22 ÷ 0.26) is characterized by the working conditions of the mechanics for the repair of rolling stock, machine tools (woodworking), casters (metal), thermists, plastic casters. In professional groups with medium and high risk, the indicator of the relative risk of morbidity with temporary disability is higher than 1 (RR = 1.75 and 1.39, respectively), and the etiological share of production factors in the formation of diseases is from 27.95 (subgroup with secondary professional risk) up to 42.88 % (a subgroup with high professional risk), which indicates the professional condition of the disease. Discussion. In general, our data are consistent with the results of similar studies conducted earlier at the car building and car repair enterprises. In order to ensure hygienically safe working conditions and preserve the health of workers, it is necessary to reduce the level of exposure to production factors, including through the introduction of modern equipment and improvement of technological processes.

The article studies the financial stability of a particular insurance organization. The financial stability of the insurance company is an essential component of its activities and characterizes the ability to pay off its obligations on time and in full. The analysis of financial stability is defined as an independent object of evaluation, which explores the structure of the formation and use of capital. To assess the financial stability of the insurance company, a set of indicators was formed, including the following ratios: level of equity, ratio of equity to liabilities, ratio of insurance premiums and insurance reserves, ratio of working capital and non-current capital, level of permanent capital, ratio of equity and insurance reserves, level of debt load, level of insurance reserves. The insurance public joint-stock company RESO-Garantia was chosen as the object of analysis. The analysis showed that the capital structure in the insurance company under consideration is not optimal. The company has a shortage of insurance reserves, which is offset by equity.
