The article deals with the influence of the use of means for young pigs Globigen® Pig Doser та Globigen® Jump Start, which due to the content of specific Ig Y have immunostimulatory properties. Assessing the level of nonspecific resistance of piglets, which are based on determining the content of T- and B-lymphocytes and their populations in the blood of animals 30-, 60- and 120-day-old, the trend of increasing the number of T-helpers, T-natural killers and B-lymphocytes in the experimental groups of animals of both farms. It was found that the content of T-helpers during single-phase rearing of pigs became more important under the action of Globigen® Pig Doser and ranged from 30.16−35.15 %, and during three-phase rearing – under the action of Globigen® Jump Start 34.58−35.08 %. An increase in the content of B-lymphocytes to the level of physiological norm was noted: FE PE “Glynjany Agro” (single-phase cultivation) in the first experimental group 16.75–19.45 %, in the second 17.66–21.11 %. At Ltd. “Meat Resources” (three-phase cultivation) 17.7–21.02 % and 18.91–21.01 %, respectively, in the first and second experimental groups. Regarding the indicators of the content of T-natural killers, there is a tendency to increase their number in the blood of animals of experimental groups by an average of 4.90 % for single-phase rearing and 3.09 % for three-phase rearing of pigs. Such data give grounds to claim that there is a formation of the immune response to the action of pathogens, which plays an important role in maintaining the barrier function of the intestinal mucosa, which in turn reduces mortality and increases the average daily gain of young pigs. Under the action of immunostimulants, the safety of piglets in FE PE “Glynjany Agro” (single-phase rearing) at 30 days of age increased to 81.3−93.7 %, and in Ltd. “Meat Resources” (three-phase rearing) to 80.0−86.7 %. In piglets FE PE “Glynjany Agro”, up to 120 days of age, the average daily gain was 0.710 and 0.691 kg using Globigen® Pig Doser and Globigen® Jump Start, and in piglets from Ltd. “Meat Resources” these figures were 0.595 and 0.628 kg.

The effect of the vitamin and mineral supplement "Kostoprav" on the level of erythrocytes and biochemical parameters of blood, as well as on indicators of live weight, absolute and relative growth and exterior indicators was studied. As a result of the research, it was established that the piglets of the experimental groups, which were fed the supplement "Kostoprav" at a dose of 20 g / kg against the background of the main diet, for 21 days. feed and 30 g/1 kg feed contributed to an increase in the live weight of weaned pigs by 15.6 and 18.4 % than in the control. The blood parameters of the weaning pigs were within the physiological norm and in the third experimental group were accompanied by an increase in the level of erythrocytes by 17.6 %, calcium by 18.7 %, phosphorus by 16.7 %, sugar by 13.2 %, compared with the control. group. This indicates an improvement in the digestive function of the gastrointestinal tract and an increase in metabolic processes in the body. The use of the vitamin and mineral supplement "Kostoprav" contributed to an increase in the measurements of the body length in the 3rd experimental group by 2.3 %, chest girth by 3.3 %, height at the withers by 0.9 % than in the control group.

Porcine Astrovirus (PoAstV) causes mild diarrhea in young pigs and is considered an emerging virus in the swine industry worldwide. PoAstV has high genetic diversity and has been classified into five genetic lineages, PoAstV1–5. In Chile, only human astroviruses have been reported. This study aimed to determine the presence and genetic diversity of PoAstV circulating in intensive pig farms in Chile. Seventeen Chilean intensive swine farms from Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O'Higgins, Ñuble and Araucanía regions were sampled. A selection of oral fluid and fecal material samples from 1–80 days-old pigs were collected and analyzed using next-generation sequencing. The circulation of PoAstV was confirmed in all studied farms. We obtained complete or partial sequences of PoAstV-2 (n = 3), PoAstV-4 (n = 2), and PoAstV-5 (n = 7). In 15 out of 17 farms, we detected more than one lineage co-circulating. Phylogenetic analyses grouped the seven PoAstV-5 strains in a monophyletic cluster, closely related to the United States PoAstV-5 strains. The three PoAstV-2 were located into two separate sub-clusters. PoAstV-4 sequences are also grouped in two different clusters, all related to Japanese strains. Thus, our results indicate that PoAstV circulates in Chile with high frequency and diversity. However, the lack of reference sequences impairs local evolution patterns establishment and regional comparisons. This is the first contribution of PoAstV genomes in Latin America; more studies are needed to understand the diversity and impact of PoAstV on swine health.

It is impossible to increase the productivity of pigs without organizing a complete balanced feeding, which provides not only a diverse set of feeds, but also stimulating feed additives and preparations. The purpose of the work was to study the effectiveness of the effect of the phytobiotic drug “Intebio” on the reproductive traits of sows and the productivity of the resulting young animals. The feed additive “Intebio” is a mixture of natural essential oils (eucalyptus, garlic, lemon and thyme), citric acid and filler (wheat bran or sunflower meal). It has been found that as a result of the use of the feed additive “Intebio”, the prolificacy of sows in the experimental group was 10,7 heads compared to 10,4 heads in the control group. The weight of piglets at the birth in the experimental group was 1,19 kg, which was 12,3 % higher than in the control group. The weight of the piglets litter at birth was statistically significantly higher in the experimental group 12,97 kg, compared to 11,35 kg in the control group. The livability of piglets for weaning in the experimental group was 100 %, and in the control group it was 93,9 %, the difference was 6,1 abs.%. The absolute weight gain in the live weight of piglets obtained during the experiment from 30 to 105 days in the control group was 26,97 kg, and in the 1st and 2nd experimental groups it was higher by 5,59 and 2,74 kg, respectively. Thus, the use of the phytobiotic feed additive “Intebio” in feeding of t sows in gestation period allowed to increase their prolificacy, the weight of piglets at the birth and their livability for weaning. The use of the feed additive “Intebio” as part of the diet of young pigs allowed to increase the absolute and average daily gains in the live weight of animals.

Abstract Increased feed cost, post-weaning diarrhea, and nitrogen excretion are challenging the modern swine industry. Very low-protein (LP) diets (>4% units reduced protein) may reduce feed cost, diarrhea and nitrogen excretion; however, these diets impair growth performance of pigs despite supplementation of limiting amino acids (i.e., lysine, threonine, methionine and tryptophan). The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of valine, isoleucine and combination of both supplemented to VLP diet on growth, thermal radiation, and gut development in young pigs. Forty three-week-old weaned barrows were weighed (6.75 ± 0.14 kg) and randomly assigned to five groups (8 pigs/group) including: 1) standard diet or positive control (PC), 2) LP diet, 3) LP + valine (LPV), 4) LP + isoleucine (LPI) and 5) LP + both valine and isoleucine (LPVI) for five weeks. Daily feed intake and weekly growth characteristics were measured and weekly thermal images were captured. All pigs were euthanized at week 5 and tissue samples collected. All data were analyzed with univariate GLM followed by Tukey’s post-hoc test (SPSS®). Compared to PC, final body weight, average daily gain, average daily protein intake and gain:feed ratio were reduced in LP group, but feeding pigs with LPVI partially or completely recovered these parameters. Pigs fed with LPVI had higher thermal radiation than those fed with PC, LP, and LPI on days 28 and 35 of study and had a greater the area under the curve for thermal radiation than LP and LPI. Duodenal villus width and crypt depth, and ileal villus height were decreased in LP relative to PC, but LPVI either partially or fully recovered these measurements. In conclusion, supplementing a combination of valine and isoleucine recovered the negative effects of very low-protein diets on growth performance and gut development, but increased the thermal radiation in weaned pigs.

It is important for industrial pig breeding to maintain a high level of animal productivity and preserve their health through the use of modern technologies and equipment for disinfection and treatment of premises, including in the presence of animals. The purpose of the research was to identify the most effective combinations of methods and modes of sanitary treatment of premises that contribute to the maximum manifestation of fattening and meat traits of pigs, preserving their health under the conditions of industrial pork production. The object of research was hybrid young pigs obtained from industrial crossbreeding of three breeds (Large White, Landrace, Pietren). It has been found as the result of the conducted investigations that the combination of the aerosol method of disinfection of livestock premises with additional aerosol air treatment during the fattening of young pigs contributes to the growth of its livability, improvement of fattening traits and increase in the efficiency of fattening. The daily consumption of animal feed during the fattening period does not depend on the method of disinfection of premises before they are put on fattening, but increases with the multiplicity of additional sanitary treatments, however, feed expenditures per 1 kg of increase have been reduced with wet disinfection from 3,10 to 2,83 kg, with aerosol disinfection from 3,10 to 2,59 kg. The biggest economic effectiveness of fattening has been noted when combining different methods of disinfection with the two-time regime of additional sanitary treatment of premises during the fattening period at the profitability level of 32,5 and 32,8 %.
