Mining industry has long development history and is among the most developed industry contributed to the economy of the country. Working in the sector is also considered as heavy and hazardous duty. The Law on Occupational Safety and Hygiene was passed and enacted in 2016, and different sub - law guiding documents were developed to regulate about working environment and risk control solution required for all industries especially for risky industry like mining. However, implementation and enforcement of Law was still inadequte. This review report aims to discuss about current situation of health and safety issues among the sector and to propose some possible solutions. Reults show that number of accidents and number of deaths was increasing. Prevalence of silicosis and hearing imparement among workers in the sector was among top ranking industries. It was recommended that monitoring, supervision and enforcement should be invested properly. Different technologies and innovations should also be applied on reducing the risk of occupational injury and diseases.

Occupational hazards have a deleterious effect on the individuals health and safety as well as organizational effectiveness. The occupational safety issues may broadly be studied under two headings viz. Physical and psychological aspects. Physical aspects of occupational health related to the occupational environment and include injuries, accidents, ergonomic problems, physical hazards, chemical substances, communicable disease and violence in the workplace and Psychological aspect are lack of reward, workload, staffing, role conflict, role ambiguity, meeting emotional needs of the patient, leadership style and professional conflict as the main sources of stress on nurses. To overcome these issues there are few strategies such as The Factories Act,1948, The Employees State Insurance Act, 1948, Role of TNAI and Stress Management Intervention Programmes (SMI) are applied. Except that the nurse administrative has to implement the universal precautions, protective personnel equipment and compulsory HBV vaccination, needleless delivery system and non latex gloves, periodic breaks, safe working environment and safe patient lifting devices etc. Organizations must consider what they can do to eliminate occupational physical problems, workplace stressors. This will necessarily result in improved well-being of the individual as well as increased effectiveness of the organization.

This article deals with the role and the place of risk-based thinking in today’s occupational safety and health (OSH) systems used by mining companies. A brief survey on modern challenges and pressures affecting companies, as well as on the structure of supply chains, is given. It is demonstrated that, despite all measures and actions that are being taken, occupational injuries in the mining sector: (a) remain a matter of serious concern and (b) should be examined and investigated through the lens of the company’s complexity. The objective of the article is two-fold: to trace the evolution of risk-based thinking from quality management systems towards OSH management systems and to demonstrate how this approach can be implemented by a company performing open-pit mining operations. The matrix method along with the Fine and Kinney’s method was used in assessing OSH risks, and the checklist method along with a Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats (SWOT)analysis was used while assessing OSH opportunities. The results of the study make it possible to conclude that risk-based thinking incorporated into an OSH management system can be a robust and efficient instrument for OSH planning and implementation. This article contains an example of assessing OSH risks and opportunities for a dragline operator and also discusses the possible ways of using the data on the OSH risks and opportunities that were identified in OSH activities. The final part also contains comments and reflections on various risks mining companies are facing nowadays.

Large-scale mining disturbs wide areas of land. The development program for the mining industry, with an expected considerable increase in production output, aggravates the problem with even vaster territories exposed to the adverse anthropogenic impact. Recovery of mining-induced ecosystems in the mineral-extracting regions becomes the top priority objective. There are many restoration mechanisms, and they should be used in integration and be highly technologically intensive as the environmental impact is many-sided. This involves pollution of water, generation of much waste and soil disturbance which is the most typical of open pit mining. Scale disturbance of land, withdrawal of farming land, land pollution and littering are critical problems to the solved in the first place. One of the way outs is highquality reclamation. This article reviews the effective rules and regulations on reclamation. The mechanism is proposed for the legal control of disturbed land reclamation on a regional and federal level. Highly technologically intensive recovery of mining-induced landscape will be backed up by the natural environment restoration strategy proposed in the Disturbed Land Reclamation Concept.

This research article presents a software module for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of open pit mines. The EIA software module has been developed based on the comprehensive examination of both country-specific (namely, Kazakhstan) and current international regulatory frameworks, legislation and EIA methodologies. EIA frameworks and methods have been critically evaluated, and mathematical models have been developed and implemented in the GIS software module ‘3D Quarry’. The proposed methodology and software module allows for optimised EIA calculations of open pit mines, aiming to minimise the negative impacts on the environment. The study presents an original methodology laid out as a basis for a software module for environmental impact assessment on atmosphere, water basins, soil and subsoil, tailored to the context of mining operations in Kazakhstan. The proposed software module offers an alternative to commercial off-the-shelf software packages currently used in the mining industry and is suitable for small mining operators in post-Soviet countries. It is anticipated that applications of the proposed software module will enable the transition to sustainable development in the Kazakh mining industry.

In this study, an analysis of independent studies dealing with occupational safety training in different learning environments, in which various learning materials are used, was carried out. As a method, meta-analysis method was used. For this purpose, databases were used to collect national and international articles and papers suitable for the purpose of the study. Studies that did not mention the tools, equipment and environment used in education in the collected studies were excluded from the research, and 18 studies were included in the meta-analysis. The data obtained studies are categorized according to the education models, the sectors in which the education is applied and the characteristics of the participants in the education. As it is known, occupational health and safety procedures aim at a healthy and reliable working environment for its employees. However, the ultimate goal is to raise not only employees but also future generations with this awareness. The most important instrument of this is undoubtedly education. For this reason, it is necessary to develop training models suitable for the work environment, age, gender and every conceivable situation.

Any approach to occupational health must acknowledge that accidents in the workplace result in many injuries. Construction, agriculture, and primary extraction are the main causes of fatalities and serious injuries, but many more minor injuries result from all types of work. Health and safety law has developed with an emphasis on accident prevention that is based on designing and managing the working environment. Establishing this approach to safety management begins with an organization committing itself to a policy influenced by legal obligations and current good practice. While this chapter draws heavily on the UK situation, where there has been considerable experience and development of approaches to health and safety, it is incumbent on any physician to consider the work environment and whether changes to the workplace might improve not only the lot of their patients, but others potentially at risk in the workplace.

Analysis of the grade composition of the mineral resource base of the distributed and undistributed subsoil Fund as of 01.01.2018 showed a decrease in reserves of coal intended for open pit mining. In the future, the production of a number of technological grades of coal (gas fat (GZh), fat (Zh), coking fat (KZh), coking (K), coking caking low-metamorphized (KCN), coking caking (KC), lean caking (OC), low caking (CC) is possible only by underground method. The expansion of the raw material base of the Kuzbass coal industry and the support of coal production volumes, primarily by the technological of grades coking fat (KZh), coking (K), coking caking (KC), lean caking (OC), low caking (CC) involves exploration, the use of unconventional production technologies and tax preferences for coal mining enterprise


Significance On the agenda is the issue of legislation on open-pit mining and the stopping of the export of unprocessed ores. This follows Cimatu’s confirmation in post by the Commission on Appointments on October 4. Previously acting secretary, Cimatu replaced the controversial Regina Lopez, who was not confirmed as environment secretary earlier this year. The Philippine mining industry was wary of Lopez’s pro-environment, anti-mining policies, and now wants to see what Cimatu’s plans are. Impacts Under Cimatu, mining firms could gain more opportunities to engage with policymakers. Environmental and anti-mining groups will see Cimatu’s appointment as a betrayal; protests are possible at mining projects. Peace in Mindanao would unlock an estimated 1 trillion dollars in untapped mineral resources.

It is the advantage to outsourcing of supply chains that opened up a new door of economic emancipation for Bangladesh. The readymade garments (RMG) of Bangladesh emerge as value chain member of European, USA cloth merchants and retails. Many of them are found economic justification in outsourcing production function to Bangladesh. RMG sector of Bangladesh responded to this outsourcing demand quite successfully. The overwhelming success of the RMG sector of Bangladesh has moved its status in the global context in terms of economic and social development indicators. Despite the challenge that lies ahead, Bangladesh performed well in terms of realizing benefit of economic globalization, particularly its RMG sector.
