Literacy is often seen as knowing literature. As one of the important goal of education across the world, mathematics literacy focuses on concrete dimension with context and content to be studied. This paper reports an quasi experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design on promoting mathematical literacy through the use of guided inquiry method. A total of 32 secondary school students of class VIII participated as a sample in the study and 192 students as a population. Mathematical literacy of students was measured with essay test. The students’ works were analysed and compared using paired sample t-Test. It was found that the guided inquiry method successfully promote students’ mathematical literacy as indicated by the result of paired sample t-test values of significance (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, the guided inquiry can be used as one of alternative method in learning mathematcs to improve students'mathematical literacy.

AbstractThe purpose of the study was to analyze the differences in the increase in self-concept of elementary school students through scaffolding techniques in Saparua District, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest and involved 30 elementary school students as research samples. The test uses paired sample t-test and it is identified that there are differences in students' self concepts before and after scaffolding techniques are applied. Self-concept enhancement was analyzed using N-gain, where each self-concept indicator achieved an increase in the medium category. The indicators of attitude and self-confidence increased by 31%, The indicators of View of ability and disability increased by 43%, and indicators of self-sensitivity increased by 52%, and the indicators of views of others towards themselves was 45%. These result are due to the effectiveness of scaffolding, because by scaffolding students can be helped to solve a problem.

Several studies have investigated students’ perceptions toward technologies that add game elements to gamify learning content in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. Yet, identifying what specific game elements in these technologies have a significant impact on students’ perceptions has not received much attention. This quasi-experimental study aimed at exploring the effect of Kahoot music on Moroccan students’ acceptance of Kahoot gamified quizzing in the EFL classroom. Two intact groups of secondary school students were recruited for this study. One group played Kahoot Gamified Quizzes without music, while the other group played the same quizzes with music. The results of the independent samples t-test showed that the students in both groups perceived Kahoot gamified quizzing positively and that music had no significant effect on their perceptions.
