The Purpose of the research: The study aimed to document the Asteraceae species in the study area. The study also examined the species diversity and medicinally important plants. Data, Materials, and Methodology: The work is based on fresh materials collected during thirty-six field visits to Paba Upazila of Rajshahi district, Bangladesh was carried out from November 2018 to October 2019 to cover the seasonal variations. Plant parts with either flower or fruits collected using traditional herbarium techniques to make voucher specimens for documentation. The results: The result shows in all, 44 species under 35 genera of the family Asteraceae were reported, out of which 40 (90.90%) were used medicinal applications for the treatment of more than 59 diseases. Major findings: The findings of the study that 25% of species were very common, 43.18% were common, 25% species were rare and 6.82% species were very rare in the study area. Mikania cordata (Burm.f.) Robinson is the only climbing species. Blumea laciniata (Roxb.) DC. and Wedelia trilobata (L.) Hitchc. has been reported for the first time in Paba Upazila of Rajshahi. The present study will help in identifying the major Asteraceae species for further investigation and also beneficial to develop the herbal drug development.

Purpose: The aims to investigate the angiosperm taxa in the study area. The present research also documented the species diversity and important medicinal plants.  Subjects and Methods: Angiosperm flora in the Chaar Khidirpur area of Rajshahi, Bangladesh was carried out from November 2018 to October 2019 to cover the seasonal variations. Plant parts with either flower or fruits collected using traditional herbarium techniques to make voucher specimens for documentation.  Results: The result focused that a total of 210 species belonging to177 genera under 71 families were recorded. Forty-five (45) medicinal plants were used for the treatment of more than 61 diseases. Conclusion: The present study was the first time to report angiosperm diversity and medicinal plants in the study area. In this research, the status of occurrence has been recorded for proper conservation management and sustainable utilization of the taxa resulting in 81.33% being common, 16.74% as rare and 1.91% are found as threatened in the study area.

The inventory and assessment of species diversity in the mono-generic family Begoniaceae C. A. Agardh of Bangladesh were made through long term field investigations, collections, identification, survey and examination of preserved herbarium specimens and review of relevant taxonomic and floristic literature. The family is recognized to be represented in the flora of Bangladesh by 19 species under the genus Begonia L. Of these, 11 species were known to be previously recorded from the area of Bangladesh, hence additional 8 species of the present account are being reported here for the first time as new records from Bangladesh, these are: Begonia grandis Dryand. ssp. holostylla Irmsch. , B. heracleifolia Cham. and Schltdl. Cult., B. maculata Raddi Cult. B. modestiflora Kurz, B. muliensis T. T. Yu. Cult., B. scintillans Dunn, B. surculigera Kurz and B. thomsonii A. DC. An enumeration of these 19 species is prepared, and each species is cited with detailed taxonomic data. All species of the Begonia L. are herbaceous in nature and possess potential economic values, viz. 11 (52%) medicinal, 5 (24%) ornamental, 3 (14%) beverage, 1 (5%) food and 1 (5%) poisonous. Determination of status of occurrence showed that 2 (10.53%) species are common, 5 (26.32%) cultivated, 9 (47.36%) threatened and 3 (15.79%) possibly extinct in Bangladesh. Nepal occupies the Central part of the Himalayas and offers unique ecological and species diversity. Ants are amongst the most diverse and successful insects on the Earth. Study of Nepalese myrmeco-fauna has started only after 1906 and little is known about them except the availability of few published works only. This paper provides a brief overview of the status of ant research in Nepal, type localities, distribution records, diagnosis and etymology of ant species which are described for the first time from Nepalese specimens. All the type materials of these species are deposited in museums abroad and it seems essential to deposit voucher specimens in the country to excel taxonomic work on Nepalese fauna. Systematic surveys of ants and well-curetted ant depository will facilitate the discovery of more ant species from Nepal. We hope that this paper will stimulate local interest in the study of ants of Nepal.

This study reviews the family Macrochelidae in Turkey, with new information about species diversity. Nothrholaspis scutivagus sp. nov., Macrocheles niksarensis sp. nov. and Holostaspella bidentata sp. nov. are described as new species from Turkey. Nothrholaspis scutivagus has a characteristic dorsal shield chaetotaxy, and post-genital platelets that are sometimes fused to the ventri-anal shield. Macrocheles niksarensis has 29 pairs of pilose dorsal shield setae and a machete-like cheliceral dorsal seta. The genus Holostaspella is recorded from Turkey for the first time, on the basis of H. bidentata. Macrocheles peniculatus and M. insignitus are reported from Turkey for the first time. Also, Macrholaspis recki and M. evansi are presented here with some notes on the Turkish specimens.

The species diversity of the superclass Crustacea only in Lake Baikal has 58 species of the superorder Cladocera and 52 species and subspecies from the subclass Соpepoda, 5 of them belong to the order Calanoida and 47 to the order Cyclopoida. Species that inhabit the waters of Olkhon Island are not included in this list. On the island there are temporary and permanent reservoirs, which by the chemical composition of the water are fresh or brackish. The species diversity of the island crustaceans includes 28 species, of which only 64 % are known for Baikal. This article gives a brief description of the morphology of rare and small species from the family Daphniidae: Ceriodaphnia megops Sars 1985; Diaptomidae: Arctodiaptomus (A.) wierzejskii (Richard, 1888) and Cyclopidae: Eucyclops arcanus Alekseev, 1990. The first two species were found in Lake Baikal, the third species – on Olkhon Island. Morphological analysis of the species was performed by means of a scanning electron microscope (SEM). A detailed description of the morphological features of C. megops, A. (A.) wierzejskii female and male, and E. arcanus female with illustrations is presented. Data on diaptomus and cyclopoid mouth appendages, tables with biometrical parameters of a cyclopoid are provided. Images of cyclopoid Р1–Р4 coxopodite and basal exopodite segment are shown for the first time. C. megops and A. (A.) wierzeskii crustaceans are rare species in the water bodies of the south of Central Asia, including Mongolia. A. (A.) wierzeskii population is the first finding in the water bodies of the south of Eastern Siberia and Baikal.

The large pantropical millipede genus Stemmiulus, which currently encompasses more than 150 species, i.e. the bulk of the species diversity of the family Stemmiulidae and entire order Stemmiulida, is shown to comprise seven species in Cameroon, including three new ones: S.ongot Nzoko Fiemapong & VandenSpiegel, sp. n., S.uncus Nzoko Fiemapong & VandenSpiegel, sp. n., and S.mbalmayoensis Nzoko Fiemapong & VandenSpiegel, sp. n. In addition, S.beroni Mauriès, 1989, previously known only from the type locality in Nigeria, is recorded from Cameroon for the first time, also being redescribed based on new samples. A key is given to all species of the genus encountered in the country, based on male gonopodal conformation, except for S.camerunensis (Silvestri, 1916), which was described only from female and juvenile material.

The subfamily Beridinae of the family Stratiomyidae contains about 280 known species globally, and distributed all over the biogeographical areas except polar region. In the Korean peninsula, the species diversity of this subfamily has been poorly known so far, in accordance with National species list of Korea by National Institue of Biological Resources. In this paper, the soldier fly genus Beris Latreille is reported for the first time from Korea based on following three species: B. fuscipes Meigen, B. hirotui Ôuchi, and B. tigris Lee and Suh, sp. nov. Among them, B. tigris Lee and Suh, sp. nov. was confirmed to be newly discovered. Consequently, three species within this genus have been identified from the Korean peninsula. The identification key, description, external photographs, and taxonomic notes of these Korean species are presented herein.

Land snails of the family Orthalicidae from Venezuelan Guayana are revised and the following new species are described: Drymaeus (D.) rex, Plekocheilus (Eurytus) huberi, P. (E.) nebulosus, P. (E.) sophiae, and P. (E.) tepuiensis. Drymaeus (D.) griffini Haas, 1955 is now placed in the synonymy of D. (D.) extraneus (Haas, 1955). In addition, the genitalia of Plekocheilus (Eurytus) tatei Haas, 1955 are described for the first time. Plekocheilus (Eudolichotis) gibber (Oberwimmer, 1931) is now considered a member of P. (Eurytus). As a consequence, Antitragus Oberwimmer, 1931 is now regarded a junior synonym of Eurytus Albers, 1850. Of the 16 taxa treated here, 14 are endemic to the table-top mountains (‘tepuis’) of this area. A Principal Component Analysis has been used to study the biotic and abiotic factors that may influence species diversity and distributions. Habitat diversity explained 65% of the variability and was mainly influenced by plant diversity, number of forest types, elevation and slope area of the tepuis.

The study of Pteridophytic flora of Bhimkalipatan, Pokhara was conducted from May 2018 to October 2018. The Pteridophytic plants were collected and then dried for herbarium specimen preparation. The prepared Herbarium voucher specimens were identified based on standard literatures and finally verified from KATH, Kathmandu. A total of 27 species under 19 genera belonging to 11 families were recorded. The family Polypodiaceae was the largest family with eight species under five genera. The family Pteridaceae stood second with six species under three genera. The family Dryopteridaceae was third largest family represented by three species under three genera. In the same way, the families Lygodiaceae and Thelypteridaceae were represented by two species each under two genera respectively. The remaining six families i.e. Davalliaceae, Equisetaceae, Lycopodiaceae, Nephrolepidaceae, Selaginellaceae and Woodsiaceae were represented by one species each. The largest genera were Pteris and Pyrossia representing three species each followed by Adiantum, Drynaria, Lygodium and Thelypteris with two species each respectively and the remaining 13 genera are monotypic genera. Habitat wise, the collected species were terrestrial represented by nine species followed by seven epiphytes, two climbers and one lithophyte. Likewise, three species were found as terrestrial, epiphytes and lithophytes; three species as epiphytes and lithophytes and two species as terrestrial and lithophytes.

The study of several Lake Baikal leech collections offered us the possibility to determine species diversity in the Chivyrkuy Gulf, the biggest one in the lake. As a result, the first information on the Chivyrkuy Hirudinea fauna (Annelida, Clitellata) has been revealed. There are two orders and four families of leeches in the Chivyrkuy Gulf: order Rhynchobdellida (families Glossiphoniidae and Piscicolidae) and order Arhynchobdellida (families Erpobdellidae and Haemopidae). In total, 22 leech species and 2 subspecies belonging to 11 genera were identified. Of these, 4 taxa belong to the family Glossiphoniidae (G. concolor,A. hyalina,A. heteroclitaf.papillosa, andA. heteroclitaf.striata) recorded in Baikal for the first time. Representatives of 8 unidentified species (Glossophiniasp.,Baicaloclepsissp.,Baicalobdellasp.,Piscicolasp. 1,Piscicolasp. 2,Erpobdellasp. 1,Erpobdellasp. 2, andErpobdellasp. 3) have been also recorded. The checklist gives a contemporary overview of the species composition of leech parasites, their hosts, and distribution within the Chivyrkuy Gulf. The analysis of spatial distribution has shown that the leech species diversity is correlated with the biological productivity of the bay. The most diverse community of leech species is detected in the eutrophic zone of the lake.
