SMEs play a tremendous role in increased national economic development and consider the backbone of the economy around the world. It contributes a great share in the GDP of Pakistan and a huge number of the workforce involved. However, despite such great importance, the SMEs growth in Pakistan face numerous challenges for access to financial resources, market information, and procurement contract. Hence the main aim behind this study is to investigate the influence of these barriers on manufacturing SMEs' growth and survival. A structured questionnaire was distributed among 172 managerial level employees of manufacturing SMEs to explore the influence of financial resources, market information, and procurement contract on the growth of SMEs by incorporating the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The study shows that the lack of access to financial resources, market information, and procurement contract negatively influence the growth and survival of SMEs. Therefore, it needs a certain action to eliminate such barriers for SMEs' sustainable growth and survival. This study suggestion will help to contribute to policymakers and industry players to overcome such barriers.

One problem for sustainability of systems pensions is how people without specialized financial training could manage their resources and their actual personal intentions towards retirement. Research objective is to analyse the relationship among several factors that affect the behaviour towards retirement, the financial management practices and the financial resources, by carrying out a structural equation model (SEM) that was tested in Spanish workers sample in three phases. The influence of financial literacy, financial retirement objectives, optimism on retirement, tolerance to financial risk, and the commitment to financial planning at time 1, are analysed as explanatory variables of financial management practices at time 2. Financial resources for retirement at time 3 are explained by financial management practices. According to results, the model can predict the 36% of the variance of financial management practices and 53% of the variance of financial resources for retirement. Thus, the model can be used for checking of knowledge of the personal financial behaviour before retirement, what enables a better personal financial planning. It would be possible to apply a model based on self-assessment in order to implement a complementary financial planning that would allow to maintain the welfare during retirement.

The current study empirically examines an integrative model linking multiple types of touch points in tourism experience, hedonic well-being, eudaimonic well-being, revisit intention, and online word of mouth, in response to the calls to revitalize tourism and achieve sustainable development. The research relied on “Nong Jia Le,” an important representative survey on leisure tourism. The questionnaire was developed based on prior studies, then translated into Chinese and set up in an online survey system. In total, 316 respondents were ultimately gathered for analysis. Principal component analysis was used to test the reliability and validity of each construct, and a structural equation model was used to test the hypotheses. The findings show that tourism experiences derived from partner-owned, customer-owned, and social touch points positively affect perceived hedonic and eudaimonic well-being, while experiences derived from destination-owned touch points only positively influence hedonic well-being. In addition, both hedonic and eudaimonic well-being significantly affect consumers’ intention to revisit the destination and to spread word of mouth online. This study fills in a gap in leisure tourism literature by proposing the merits of touch points in tourism experience and placing importance on conceptions of eudaimonia. More importantly, the current research offers important social and economic considerations that can contribute to the sustainable growth of leisure tourism.

This study intends to demonstrate whether firms’ cooperative activities, particularly ‘coopetition’, affect business performances. Coopetition, which is cooperation with competitors, is a strategic concept that suggests competition and cooperation between firms can exist simultaneously. More specifically, in order to investigate cooperation as a part of innovation mechanism, this study analysed the mediating effects of product and process innovation performances in between cooperative activities and management performances. For this purpose, we applied a structural equation model (SEM) by integrating a regression model and a logistic regression model. The former analysed the effects of cooperation and innovation on management performances, whereas the latter studied influence of cooperation on innovation performances. For empirical analysis, we utilised data from Korea Innovation Survey (KIS), which incorporates information on Korean firm’s innovation activities and their relevant performances. The results from this study can be applied to addressing and diagnosing issues in Korean industries by analysing relationships among cooperative activities, innovation outcomes and management performances in the structural context. The analysis showed that coopetition, compared to other types of cooperation, has enhanced the performance of process innovation. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrated that cooperation related positively to management performances. This study, however, also addresses the problem that Korean firms have limitations in linking these innovation performances to actual management performances of financial growth. The results highlight the significance of strategic openness and flexibility, even to competitors, as the business environment and technology market may change drastically. Coopetition strategy can work as a facilitator in providing windows of opportunity for sustainable growth through field-based innovation.

Women’s equality and empowerment are one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that was initiated to eliminate gender discrimination. This goal can be achieved through establishing women entrepreneurship by employing critical failure factor analysis. Thus, this study was aimed to explore the obstacles faced by women entrepreneurs; consisting of restricted training and education, legal constraints, limited access to financial resources, and family-related interface. Besides, this study was intended to examine how these obstacles affected women entrepreneurs’ growth. Data related to 109 women entrepreneurs in Malaysia were collected. The Relative Importance Index (RII) was used to rank these obstacles. Subsequently, partial least square structural equation model analysis was performed on the data. The findings revealed that restricted training and education, limited access to financial resources, and familyrelated interface have an adverse effect on women entrepreneurs’ growth. Therefore, theoretically this study offered a new women entrepreneurs’ model by linking the obstacles and growth within a single study.

MSEs contribute much to the Indonesian economy and play a crucial role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Unfortunately, MSEs still have limited access to finance. Financing access (SDGs’ issue), support from the government (environmental aspect), and entrepreneurial traits (inside the MSEs) are central for MSEs’ sustainability. This research investigates the role of a business environment built by the government to ease financial constraints and support self-efficacy in MSEs’ sustainable growth. This research applies the Structural Equation Model method to 750 respondents. Initially the direct factors are estimated and then a moderating factor is added. The results find that financial constraints MSEs’ experience limits the their sustainability, whereas self-efficacy enhances it. Although MSEs possess strong entrepreneurial characteristics as the basis for their growth, financing access remains a burden. The research confirms that the business environment created by the government is an effective strategy to facilitate MSEs’ sustainability. However, MSEs’ sustainability cannot be improved merely by government schemes but must be supported by the financial and banking sectors.

Blockchain technology developed as a technical platform for electronic money. It is now considered a next generation information technology tool for sustainable growth in supply chain (SC) management. However, its study is relatively rare in the literature on SC collaboration and sustainability management research, despite its advantages in sustaining connectivity and reliability among SC partners. This study investigates how the use of blockchain in SC activities can influence (increase or decrease) SC partnership efficiency and growth, thereby affecting SC performance outcomes. Specifically, this study empirically validates a measurement and structural equation model with 306 SC experts from various industries. The findings show that the blockchain technology characteristics (information transparency, information immutability, and smart contracts) have significant positive effects on partnership growth and marginal effects on partnership efficiency. Though partnership growth has a positive effect on firm performance, partnership efficiency shows a negative effect.

Purpose Social economy organizations (SEOs) are a hybrid model where relations with stakeholders are managed using transparency mechanisms. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the role that online accessibility (which is understood to be a tool to implement transparency) has in raising financial resources and to assess its impact on economic and social achievements. Moreover, the authors study the interaction between online accessibility and external verification. Design/methodology/approach This study analyzes the behavior of 1,400 SEOs between 2009 and 2012 using a structural equation model and the MPLUS 7.4 software, which is based on covariance analysis. Findings The results show that transparency, which is understood as online accessibility, assists in raising financial resources and enhances SEO economic and social achievements. The authors also note that external verifications favor the economic achievements of SEOs but do not improve their social achievements. Research limitations/implications This research has two limitations: this study refers only to Spanish SEOs and no consensus exists on how to measure economic and social performance. Therefore, the conclusions should be considered with caution in other regulatory and cultural fields. The main implications of this work are the criteria the authors provide to help decision makers decide on the transparency model that SEOs should develop according to their management needs. Originality/value This study bridges a gap in the current research by increasing understanding of the role of accessibility as being the most important tool for an organization that strives to embody transparent behavior.
