The pattern design of brassieres is the core technology for the design and manufacture of brassieres, while the female breast shape and part dimensions are the foundations for pattern design of brassieres. Based upon 3D body scanning, this paper studied the relationship between the breast root shape and the steel ring by considering the features of the pattern design of the brassiere. It concludes that the breast root girth is a complicated three-dimensional curve; it’s inappropriate for the neighboring size’s brassieres to adopt the steel ring with the same specification; the material design of the steel ring should be moderate. The purpose is to provide human body basis for pattern design of brassieres and achieve more standard and scientific pattern design of the brassiere by the underwear enterprises.

A variety of bioactive composites have been invested over the last two decades as substitute materials for diseased or damaged tissues in the human body. In this paper, bioactive composites were prepared using polycaprolactone ( PCL ) and hydroxyapatite ( HA ). The influence of micro-sized and nano-sized HA on composite properties was investigated. The nano- HA was prepared by wet chemical co-precipitation reaction method. Studies of biocomposite specimen morphology were performed by Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and DSC (Differential scanning calorimetry) were used to assess the crystal structure of HA and thermal properties of the composites, respectively. The synthesized nano- HA is found to be of high purity HA structure. The relationship between composition, structure and properties was studied. Different methods to prepare uniform composites were tried, and the outcome of this work suggests that by proper manipulation of biodegradable polymers and bioactive ceramics through material design, bioactive composites with controlled properties might be achievable.

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> The objective of this article is to analyze the state-of-art regarding the construction process of the Gaussian Vaults of the Uruguayan civil engineer Eladio Dieste and to identify the elements that underlie the relationship between the constructive techniques and procedures within this specific structural typology and its resulting geometry. As complementary objectives, this research aims for the identification of the gaps in the registry of such constructive procedures. The essay focuses on the geometry of the Gaussian Vaults designed and built by Dieste, in a way that these rigid structural surfaces’ geometry had their original construction drawings redrawn and analyzed from the perspective of its construction technique by means of the Parametrical Modelling and Digital Fabrication of case studies.</p>

In this article we present a theoretical framework for an understanding of the relationship between the material design of mobilities technologies and the multisensorial human body. Situating our work in the emerging field of “mobilities design” within the broader so-called mobilities turn, we focus on two very different aircraft types and their design (the large passenger jet Boeing 737 and the small propeller aircraft DHC-2) in order to explore the sensuousness of in-flight experience and atmosphere. We focus on the interior design of the aircraft as well as on their technical capacities, and end with a conclusion that offers a fl at ontological view of mobilities design. We argue that according the material design of mobilities technologies must be inscribed on equal terms with the sensing human subject if we are to claim that we have reached a better understanding of how mobility feels.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing with foam concrete, which is known for its distinct physical and mechanical properties, has not yet been purposefully investigated. The article at hand presents a methodological approach for the mixture design of 3D-printable foam concretes and a systematic investigation of the potential application of this type of material in digital construction. Three different foam concrete compositions with water-to-binder ratios between 0.33–0.36 and densities of 1100 to 1580 kg/m³ in the fresh state were produced with a prefoaming technique using a protein-based foaming agent. Based on the fresh-state tests, including 3D printing as such, an optimum composition was identified, and its compressive and flexural strengths were characterized. The printable foam concrete showed low thermal conductivity and relatively high compressive strengths of above 10 MPa; therefore, it fulfilled the requirements for building materials used for load-bearing wall elements in multi-story houses. Thus, it is suitable for 3D-printing applications, while fulfilling both load-carrying and insulating functions.

Indonesia is known as a country rich in types of building materials and technologies inherited from generation to generation. Along with the passage oftime appears the computer as a human tools. However during the materialsprocessing this computational approach is still separated. Computers are still usedas tools for drawing and not used as design tools in the design thinking process.Computational design has an ability to integrating the design focus from thematerial side, structure, and formation associated with digital fabrication. Thispaper focuses to divide concepts of tectonics as general and relate them to theunderstanding of digital perception. This paper also presents the results of a studythat has involved digital perception in the study of planar materials and wafflestructure systems from the early stages to the model of construction. Plywood isthe only material used, made with milling machines and built by students. Thisprocess introduces students to different experience of the design process.Computational design makes possibilities to integrating the design focus from thematerial side, structure, and formation associated with digital fabrication.

Abstract Grassroots digital fabrication workshops (such as FabLabs), and associated technologies (such as 3D printers), are attracting increasing attention as a potential source for addressing a variety of social and environmental challenges. Through an analysis of an in-depth case study on FabLabs, this paper aims to provide insights into the practices emerging in these workshops and realities of the relationship between its members and technologies that are currently under-researched. It does this by drawing upon the domestication literature that concerns itself with how people use, adapt and reject technologies and integrate them into their life. The paper examines the significance of the interactions between people and technologies in FabLabs and offers concluding reflections on the role of these relationships within broader social and environmental changes.

Since the last decade, South America experiments the implementation of scripting and digital fabrication, along with architects interested in establishing synergies with artisans, inside the context of cases linked to experiences a) formative, b) academic, and c) practical. The objective of this research was to identify processes for implementation and improvement of tools and instruments, analyzing the relationship and ways in which local traditions are being preserved, while being customizable and transcending into global markets.
