One psychological impact experienced by women victims of violence in courtship depression. This study aims to reduce the symptoms of depression by using Empathic Love Therapy. This research uses a quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design model. Three women aged 21-23 years, experiencing severe depression based on Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) participated in eight therapy sessions. The results of quantitative analysis with the Friedman Test showed that there were differences in depression scores before treatment, after treatment and after the follow-up process. This result is supported by the average value of depression which decreases from before treatment, after treatment and after the follow-up process. Besides, Empathic Love Therapy has also been shown to affect decreasing manifestations of depression both in emotional, cognitive, motivational and physical/vegetative aspects. Meanwhile, the description analysis shows that the Empathic Love Therapy session is effective and useful to help participants identify themselves towards recovery. Therefore, it can be concluded that Empathic Love Therapy is effectively used to reduce the symptoms of depression in female victims of dating violence. Empathic Love Therapy can heal wounds for victims of violence in courtship by fostering empathic love in the participants so that the level of depression decreases.

Data collection in this research using documentation technique and record technique. The results showed that the form of language news is a word containing inclusion discourse strategy in the form of strategy of nomination and identification. In the news texts, victims of male violence tend to be featured with a nomination strategy that displays the victim for what it is. However, women victims of violence seem to be shown with an identification strategy that displays the victim as a powerless party. Male victims in the online news text tend to be more protected than female victims. This may indicate that Tribun Timur journalists still tend to embrace the ideology of patriarchy.

Background: Mental health impairments have been shown to negatively affect preoperative self-reported function in patients with various musculoskeletal disorders, including those with femoroacetabular impingement. Hypothesis: Those with symptoms of depression will have lower self-reported function, more pain, and less satisfaction on initial assessment and at 2-year follow-up than those without symptoms of depression. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Patients who were enrolled in a multicenter hip arthroscopic surgery registry and had 2-year outcome data available were included in the study. Patients completed the 12-item International Hip Outcome Tool (iHOT-12), visual analog scale (VAS) for pain, and 12-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-12) when consenting for surgery. At 2-year follow-up, patients were emailed the iHOT, the VAS, and a rating scale of surgical satisfaction. Initial SF-12 mental component summary (MCS) scores <46.5 and ≤36 were used to qualify symptoms of depression and severe depression, respectively, as previously described and validated. Repeated-measures analysis of variance was performed to compare preoperative and 2-year postoperative iHOT-12, VAS, and satisfaction scores between those with and without symptoms of depression. Results: A total of 781 patients achieved the approximate 2-year milestone (mean follow-up, 735 ± 68 days), with 651 (83%) having 2-year outcome data available. There were 434 (67%) female and 217 (33%) male patients, with a mean age of 35.8 ± 13.0 years and a mean body mass index of 25.4 ± 8.8 kg/m2. The most common procedures were femoroplasty (83%), followed by synovectomy (80%), labral repair (76%), acetabuloplasty (58%), acetabular chondroplasty (56%), femoral chondroplasty (23%), and labral reconstruction (19%). The mean initial SF-12 MCS score was 51.5 ± 10.3, with cutoff scores indicating symptoms of depression and severe depression in 181 (28%) and 71 (11%) patients, respectively. Patients with symptoms of depression scored significantly ( P < .05) lower on the initial iHOT-12 and VAS and 2-year follow-up iHOT-12, VAS, and rating scale of surgical satisfaction. Conclusion: A large number of patients who underwent hip arthroscopic surgery presented with symptoms of depression, which negatively affected self-reported function, pain levels, and satisfaction on initial assessment and at 2-year follow-up. Surgeons who perform hip arthroscopic surgery may need to identify the symptoms of depression and be aware of the impact that depression can have on surgical outcomes.

AbstractEmerging evidence shows that the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is negatively affecting mental health around the globe. Interventions to alleviate the psychological impact of the pandemic are urgently needed. Whether mindfulness practice may protect against the harmful emotional effects of a pandemic crisis remains hitherto unknown. We investigated the influence of mindfulness training on mental health during the COVID-19 outbreak in China. We hypothesized that mindfulness practitioners might manifest less pandemic-related distress, depression, anxiety, and stress than non-practitioners and that more frequent practice would be associated with an improvement in mental health during the pandemic. Therefore, we assessed pandemic-related distress and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as the frequency of meditation practice at the peak of new infections (Feb 4–5; N = 673) and three weeks later (Feb 29–30; N = 521) in mindfulness practitioners via online questionnaires. Self-reported symptoms were also collected from non-practitioners at peak time only (N = 1550). We found lower scores of pandemic-related distress in mindfulness practitioners compared to non-practitioners. In general, older participants showed fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety. In younger practitioners, pandemic-related distress decreased from peak to follow-up. Importantly, increased mindfulness training during the preceding two weeks was associated with lower scores of depression and anxiety at both assessments. Likewise, practice frequency predicted individual improvement in scores of depression, anxiety, and stress at follow-up. Our results indicate that mindfulness meditation might be a viable low-cost intervention to mitigate the psychological impact of the COVID-19 crisis and future pandemics.

Background:Several studies have shown an inverse relationship between vitamin D levels (25OHD) and disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the existing data in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are poor, and they use the DAS28 index as a peripheral joint activity marker by extrapolation with RA.Objectives:To analyze the relationship between 25OHD levels, disease activity and functional capacity in patients with PsA.Methods:Transversal, observational, descriptive study. We included PsA patients with peripheral joint involvement. We collected demographic variables (gender, age), clinical variables [follow-up, received treatments, TJC (68), SJC (68), VAS] and analytical variables (25OHD, CRP, ESR). We usedDisease activity in psoriatic arthritis(DAPSA) score to measure disease activity, and theHealth assessment questionnaire(HAQ) to determine functional capacity. Levels of 25 OHD <20 ng/ml and between 20-30 ng/ml were considered deficient and insufficient, respectively. Statistical analysis was made with SPSS 22.0. The descriptive analysis results were expressed as percentage and mean ± SD. We used Pearson’s correlation to assess the association between quantitative variables and T test to compare means between dichotomous variables.Results:125 patients were included, the majority women (60.8%), with an average age of 55.4 (SD 12.2) years. The average follow-up was 75.5 (SD 68.3) months. 97.6% of patients had received DMARDs and 40.8% biologics, and almost half of the patients (42.7%) took calcium and 25OHD supplements. The average value of 25OHD was 27.1 (SD 12.1) ng/ml, with 30% of patients having 25OHD deficit and 63.3% insufficiency. The majority of patients had an acceptable disease control, with a mean DAPSA of 10.5 (SD 7,9); and mean of CRP, ESR, TJC and SJC was 6.1 (SD 3.7) mg/l, 10.2 (SD 9.9) mm/h, 1.3 (SD 2.5) and 0.7 (SD 2.1), respectively. The average value of HAQ was 0.6 (SD 0.7). We observed an inverse correlation between 25OHD levels and joint counts, TJC (p=0.02) and SJC (p=0.03). On the other hand, patients with hypovitaminosis D presented a tendency to get higher scores in DAPSA index (P=0.07). We do not observe any relationship between 25OHD and HAQ.Conclusion:As can be seen in our sample, low values of 25OHD are related to increased disease activity in patients with PsA.Disclosure of Interests:L Montolio-Chiva: None declared, Ana V Orenes Vera: None declared, Marta Aguilar-Zamora: None declared, C Vergara-Dangond: None declared, I Vázquez-Gómez: None declared, Eduardo Flores: None declared, A Sendra-García: None declared, À Martínez-Ferrer: None declared, Elia Valls-Pascual Grant/research support from: Roche, Novartis, and AbbVie, Speakers bureau: AbbVie, Lilly, Pfizer, MSD, Novartis, Janssen, Bristol Myers Squibb, UCB Pharma, D Ybáñez-García Speakers bureau: Lilly, Roche, Sanofi, V Núñez-Monje: None declared, I Torner-Hernández: None declared, Juanjo J Alegre-Sancho Consultant of: UCB, Roche, Sanofi, Boehringer, Celltrion, Paid instructor for: GSK, Speakers bureau: MSD, GSK, Lilly, Sanofi, Roche, UCB, Actelion, Pfizer, Abbvie, Novartis

Background and Purpose This case report describes the clinical reasoning process used to examine a person after stroke and intervene with a novel integrated motor imagery treatment designed for the rehabilitation of walking and delivered in the home through telerehabilitation. The integrated motor imagery treatment consisted of patient-centered goal setting and physical practice combined with motor and motivational imagery. Case Description The patient was a 38-year-old woman who had had a diffuse left subarachnoid hemorrhagic stroke 10 years earlier. She lived independently in an assisted living complex and carried a straight cane during long walks or in unfamiliar environments. Examination revealed a slow gait speed, reduced walking endurance, and decreased balance confidence. Although she was in the chronic phase, patient-centered integrated motor imagery was predicted to improve her community mobility. Treatment sessions of 45 to 60 minutes were held 3 times per week for 4 weeks. The practiced tasks included transitioning from sitting to standing, obstacle clearance, and navigation in interior and exterior environments; these tasks were first executed and then imagined at ratios of 1:5. Task execution allowed the creation of a scene based on movement observation. Imagery scenarios were customized to address the patient's goals and observed movement problems. Motivational elements of arousal, problem solving, and reward were embedded in the imagery scenarios. Half of the sessions were provided on site, and the remaining sessions were delivered remotely. Seven sessions were delivered by the clinician in the home, and 5 sessions were delivered using telerehabilitation. Outcomes Improvements in motor imagery ability, gait parameters, and balance were observed after training. Most gains were retained at the 3-month follow-up. Compared with on-site delivery, the telerehabilitation sessions resulted in less therapist travel time and cost, as well as shorter therapy sessions. Discussion The delivery of integrated motor imagery practice for walking recovery was feasible both on site and remotely.

Objective: We examined the association between depressive symptoms and cognitive functioning in older Hispanics/Latinos enrolled in an exercise intervention. Method: We analyzed baseline, 1-year, and 2-year in-person interview data collected from Hispanics/Latinos aged ≥60 years participating in an exercise intervention across 27 senior centers ( N = 572). Results: Mean age was 73.13 years; 77% female. At baseline, older adults screening positive for depression were 1.58 times more likely to experience cognitive impairment ( p = .04); controlling for demographics and comorbid chronic conditions. Compared to peers with little to no depressive symptoms, lower cognitive functioning scores were evident at each follow-up assessment point where elevated depressive symptoms were present, but baseline depression was not associated with cognitive function in longitudinal analyses. Discussion: In older Hispanics/Latinos enrolled in an exercise intervention, though baseline depression did not predict cognitive function over time, elevated symptoms of depression were associated with greater cognitive impairment at every point in this study.

IntroductionDepression as a pathology and the side effects of pharmacology therapy have been pointed proven to be as responsible for the lack of sexual desire. Among the drugs used in the treatment of depression, anti-depressives are the ones mostly connected to sexual dysfunction.Aims /objectivesTo study the relationship between depression and its impact on the sexual desire in psychiatric patients.MethodsThe chosen sample is composed of 89 subjects, 73 females and 16 males, with ages ranging from 21 to 70 years, who present with depressive symptomatology (mild to moderate symptomatology (MMS) and severe symptomatology (SS).To each patient 3 instruments were applied: 1)Questionnaire used to collect demographic and clinical data from the sample;2)Instrument of estimation of the depression degree (BDI - Beck Depression Inventory);3)Instrument of valuation of the sexual desire (SDS - Sexual Desire Scale).ResultsDepression average value obtained with BDI was 25.58 (SD = 11.86). The majority was satisfied with their marital relationship (72.7% and 52.9%, respectively), and the group with most sexual damaged (actual sexual performance regarding sexual desire) being the one with severe depression (54.5% versus 82.4%, respectively). Regarding total SDS value, the group with MMD present with higher levels of sexual desire (M = 54.93; DP = 14.56) than the group with SD (M = 41.82; DP = 11.86).ConclusionsThis study presents an exploratory character and the obtained results revealed that depressive symptomatology severity is directly related with sexual desire, by saying the higher the depression's severity is the lower sexual desire will be.
