English is noticed as one of international languages which is very common to be used by people from different region and country to communicate each other. Nevertheless, the ability to use this language should developed during youth’s school age. Students are often trapped by the very old-fashioned way of learning. They get bored even when they are not learning it. Based on current formal interview with the seventh grade English teacher of MI Jauharul Ulum, the students in class VII had more difficulties in learning English, especially in vocabulary. The students of this class had the lowest motivation in learning and mastering vocabulary. The teacher said that the students often look enthusiastic which is shown by their score in vocabulary which is only 59% of the whole students who got score higher than 70.        The research problem of this was “How is the use of Cartoon video able to increase the eighth grade students’ vocabulary mastery at MI Jauharul Ulum in the 2012/2013 academic year? The research objective was intended to find out how the using of cartoon video is able to increase the seventh grade students’ vocabulary mastery at MI Jauharul Ulum in the 2012/2013 academic year. This research applied cartoon video to increase students’ vocabulary mastery.             The design of this research was classroom action research. The research subject was the VII grade students at MI Jauharul Ulum in the academic year 2012 /2013. There were two kinds of data applied in this research, primary data were collected using vocabulary test and supporting data were collected using observation checklist.             The result of vocabulary test in the first cycle showed that from 32 students there were only 17 (53.13%) of them who got score ≥ 70. This means that the rest of the students did not achieve the target score.             In addition, the results of observation in Cycle I revealed that only 65.51% of 32 students actively participated in the teaching and learning process of vocabulary by using Cartoon Video. The rest of the subjects (34.49% of 32 students) were passive in joining the lesson             The result of vocabulary test in the second cycle showed that from 32 students, there were only 7 of them who get score ≤ 70, so the rest of them or 78.12%  or 25 students got score ≥ 70. This means that more students achieve the target score.             The result of observation in Cycle II showed that the students’ active participation improved during the lesson. There were 26 students or 81.25% actively involved in the teaching and learning process of vocabulary mastery through cartoon video. The rest 6 of 38 students were still categorized as passive students. It can be said that the observing in cycle 2 success because more than 75% students active in class.             Based on the results above, it could be concluded that the use of cartoon video could improve the seventh grade students’ vocabulary mastery. And it could help the students to identify of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs in a short period and it was worth to be carried for the next vocabulary class.

<p>The objective this research are to know the application of teaching descriptive text reading through Index Card Match (ICM) and the advantages and disadvantages of teaching descriptive text reading through Index Card Match (ICM) for the seventh grade students SMPN 2 Barat in the academic year 2014/2015.This research is conducted in SMP N 2 Barat by qualitative method. The sample is class VII A which consists of 22 students. The strategies of accumulating data are observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis is carried out by the use of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The result of this research indicates that the activities are divided into three activities. There are pre-activities, whilst-activities and post-activities. Pre-activities are greeting, asking condition, giving motivation and mentioning the materials. Whilst-activities are explaining materials, explaining the instruction of ICM, and giving exercise of ICM. Then, post-activities are asking the difficulties, summarizing materials and closing. From the result of the data observation cheek list, the researcher makes the class interesting and the students always pay attention in teaching reading. The advantages using ICM are that: 1)Index Card Match (ICM) the students are able to read descriptive text faster in limited time, 2) Index card match (ICM) makes teaching learning process exciting, 3)Index card match makes the subject matter presented be more attractive for students, 4)Index Card Match can make students have self confidence, enjoy, have good enthusiasm in the teaching and learning. But disadvantages using ICM  thatare the situation becomes crowded classroom, because students interact with classmates and Teachersshouldspend some more time. Finally, the researcher suggests to the teacher to apply ICM method in teaching learning process as an alternative method. For further researcher they can develop this method to get a better result in teaching and learning process.</p>

Classroom Management is a multifaceted concept and views about classroom and its styles can be categorized in various ways. This study focused on the classroom itself. Therefore, this study was intended to describe the classroom management and the use of teaching learning strategy at the eight grade students in SMPN 05 Kota Serang. This study was also aimed to give some contributions concerning the Classroom Management Strategy and the students’ participation on the use of the strategy in teaching learning process in the class. This study is qualitative research. The writer had chosen two english teachers who taught the eighth grade  students  of  SMPN  05  Kota Serang  in  the  academic  year  of 2017/2018 as the subject. The writers describe the process of organizing teaching and learning process in SMPN 05 Kota Serang by applying interview and observation to the teachers. The writers could conclude that T1 applied 72% and T2 applied 70% classroom management strategy in their classroom. They applied the classroom strategies from opening to closing activities, used seating arrangement during the teaching learning process, explained the material well, gave motivation, had positive attitude and built the relationship with students.

This research aimed to explain the improvement of students’ vocabulary of the noun (abstract noun and concrete noun), Verb (regular verb and irregular verb) and adjective (Descriptive adjective).The method of this research was classroom action research consisted of two cycles. One cycle consists of four meeting. Thus there were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done at the second year of SMA Negeri 1 Enrekang. As the subject of this research was class XI in 2011/2012 academic year with students’ number about 31 students. These consist of 23 women and 8 men. The instruments of this research were observation sheet and vocabulary test or evaluation. The findings of the research were the students’ score in vocabulary mastery through the bilingual magazine. Before applying this media in teaching and learning vocabulary, the students’ mean score in D-test was 4.6 (poor). After applying bilingual magazine as a media of teaching and learning process, in cycle I the students’ mean score improved to 5.35(fair) and then in cycle II also improved to 7.20 (fairly good).

Dictation is an ancient technique in teaching language becoming one of interesting ways to improve the students’ listening comprehension proposed by Davis & Rinvolucri (1988). This study was aimed to solve the students’ listening comprehension achievement by using dictation techniques as a technique in teaching listening at SMPN 35 Surabaya in the academic year 2020/2021. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was applied in this study in two cycles. In this classroom action research, the technique was divided into note taking and partial dictation. The primary data about students listening achievement were gained from the listening test. Meanwhile, the supporting data were gathered from observation and documentation. The results on students’ activity showed the use of text dictation techniques could improve the eighth-grade students’ activity in listening. Furthermore, In the first cycle of the test’ result, the teaching listening activity was not so good as what was expected. On the average, the percentage of the students’ involvement in the process of teaching listening was only 45% in the first meeting and 50% in the second meeting. But, in the second cycle the percentage of students’ involvement in the process of teaching listening increased from 77% in the first meeting to 80% in the second meeting. This improvement happened because of some revision, they were; choosing the text with familiar story for the students, reading the text more clearly, turning up the volume, and using more gestures in teaching listening technique

This study is directed to obtain information how peer feedback can improve students’ ability in writing. Specifically, it is directed to investigate whether peer feedback works and can improve students’ writing ability in writing sentences and narrative paragraphs, at the first year students of SMA Negeri 1 Balikpapan. The study was conducted based on the result of preliminary study at the school. It is found that the students’ ability in the language skills especially in writing is still insufficient. In the teaching and learning process the teacher provides fewer portions in writing activities for the students in class. In addition, the strategies used in the teaching and learning process are uninteresting because the students have to do the writing activities in under pressure. To answer the problems, a classroom action research is conducted. The teacher as a researcher works in planning the action, implementing the action, observing, and analyzing and reflecting the action. The subjects of the study are the second year students (X-IPA-1) of 2019/2020 academic year consisting of 40 students. The results shows that peer feedback obviously can improve the students’ ability in writing sentences and narrative paragraphs at the first year students of SMA Negeri 1 Balikpapan. It has been observed that the improvements are caused by the regular writing practice done by the students and the teacher’s response given to their writing. It becomes a sort of on going dialogue.

This study was aimed at finding out Speech Acts Analysis on Teaching andLearning Process used by the Teacher in MAN 2 Mataram in Academic year 2016/2017. The method of this research is qualitative research The data of this research were the utterances performed by the Teachers of MAN 2 Mataram. The research instrument was the researcher himself. Participant is the subject from which the data obtained (Arikunto, 2010: 172)The Researcher’s participant actively classification speech act by the Teachers on teaching and learning process.T he instrument of data by using video camera and observation. To analyze the data Based on Louis (2005:181). This study used observation and video recording as an instrument of data collection, the researcher applied coding system. In this research, there are two validity principles applied by the researcher. The results of the research show that there are three classifications of speech act performed by the Teachers in the aching and learning process . The results of the research show that there are three classification of speech act performed by the Teachers in the aching and learning process. they are 4 data of locutionary act , 30 data of Illucotionary act, 7 data of Perlocutionary act . So the total of data were 41 data of speech act are used By the Teachers in MAN 2 Mataram.

Writing skill is one of the skills that is difficult to learn because we have to know the correct sentence composition and also what we hear must be in accordance with what we write and therefore this skill is very important to learn. The objective of the research is to identify the sudents’ responses toward think talk write (TTW) strategy in teacihng writing skill. The research used descriptive qualitative design. The respondents of this research were eighth grade students of SMP Pasundan 1 Cimahi. The instrument of this research was questionnaire. The result of data analysis shows that students gave positive responses toward TTW strategy. The respondents agree that TTW strategy can increase students’ motivation, TTW Strategy can help students in improving their writing skill and TTW strategy can make teaching and learning process interesting. Keywords:  Writing, Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy, Student’s Responses

The main purpose of teaching learning English in Junior High School to develop the students’ competence and knowledge in four language skills, Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing. One of the difficult skills is writing. In this research are describe how are the uses, problems, and solutions of the use of Literacy Approach to Teach Writing of Descriptive Text At The Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 1 Ngebel.  Literacy approach is one of the approaches used to teach writing especially in descriptive text because Literacy approach is the ability to read and write. There are some step of teaching writing, they are planning, composing, and revising. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Participant/Informant of the research are the English teacher and the seventh grade students of SMPN I Ngebel Ponorogo. This research uses purposive sampling technique. The techniques which are used to collect the data are observation, interview, and documentation. Techniques of the data analysis are data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. The result of the analyzing data indicates that the uses of literacy approach in teaching writing of descriptive text are divided into two steps. The first is preparation steps and the second is learning process. The learning process uses literacy approach includes introduce and giving explanation the descriptive text, give the modal of the descriptive text and have text to analyze, make group work to discussion the students’ ideas, give the chance to make students’ own product and also checking the students’ understanding about the material. Besides, the problem of the use literacy approach in writing of descriptive text are sometimes the students are noisy in the classroom and their vocabulary are still low. The students feel afraid to deliver their opinion and ideas in teaching and learning process. The solution of the use literacy approach in writing of descriptive are the students must make group work of the students’ worksheet, Teacher controls the students and gives scores for students.

<p>Writing is one of the English skills. Teaching writing is a process to improve students' ability to write in English correctly. Descriptive text is text used to describe a person, place or object. The difficulty experienced in teaching writing through descriptive text is the lack of attention of students towards the explanation given by the teacher. To overcome this, researchers applied VARK learning style to teaching writing. VARK learning style is a learning style using all five senses to get information or knowledge in the teaching and learning process. This study aims to explain the application of VARK learning style in teaching writing through descriptive text. The procedures for applying VARK learning style in teaching writing through descriptive text are: (1) The teacher explains the meaning, patterns and characteristics of descriptive text languages, (2) The teacher asks students to make small groups, (3) The teacher gives examples of descriptive texts, ( 4) The teacher gives questions in the form of pictures to students and asks to make descriptive texts, (5) The teacher asks students to show the results of students' work in front of the class. Based on this research, it can be seen that the advantages of VARK learning style is that it can increase student learning interest, student enthusiasm and reciprocity between teacher and students.</p>

Reading is a multileveled and interactive process in which readers contruct a meaningful representation of text using their schemata. While it has been known for some time that both content and formal schemata are necessary for complete understanding of written texts in a reader’s first language (L1), and has been suspected to be true in the reader’s second language (L2). The purpose of this thesis is twofold. The first, to give a brief overview of some of the literature that deals with scanning as the alternative technique to teach reading comprehension. The second goal, to disscuss the implemetation of scaaning in the reading class. This classroom action research was intended to comprehend students’ reading in scanning recount text at SMPN 1 Glagah in the 2013/2014 academic year. It was conducted at the eighth year students. The respondent oh this research was consisted of 54 students who cocsisted of each class of the eighth grade. This respondents were chosen becouse they were as example of sample to establish the technique had goal or not. Involving the English teacher's preparation, the instructional activities conducted by the teachers, the material or technique used in the teaching of reading comprehension, the evaluation reading comprehension, and other factors that students succeed in the reading comprehension. The instruments of collecting data used test and documentation. The reading comprehension focused in recount text which used scanning technique. The reading comprehension test was used to get primary data about the students’ reading comprehension of English passages. In the implementation to find the value of reading comprehension by scanning techinique for the first time was providing related question reading test of recount text. It was done to determine the value students reading comprehension by using that technique mentioned above. So that, it will be known later on how to comprehend reading text. In the evaluation, the researcher got the test score from the respondent or students. Based on the result, it be concluded that the reading comprehension by scaanning technique had side-effect to improve the reading ability students and help the students of the eighth grade at SMPN 1 Glagah who they got some reading test which focused in recount text.
