Writing skill is one of the skills that is difficult to learn because we have to know the correct sentence composition and also what we hear must be in accordance with what we write and therefore this skill is very important to learn. The objective of the research is to identify the sudents’ responses toward think talk write (TTW) strategy in teacihng writing skill. The research used descriptive qualitative design. The respondents of this research were eighth grade students of SMP Pasundan 1 Cimahi. The instrument of this research was questionnaire. The result of data analysis shows that students gave positive responses toward TTW strategy. The respondents agree that TTW strategy can increase students’ motivation, TTW Strategy can help students in improving their writing skill and TTW strategy can make teaching and learning process interesting. Keywords:  Writing, Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy, Student’s Responses

<p>Riddle game is one of the good techniques in teaching speaking. The objectives of this research are to describe the application of riddle game in teaching speaking, identify the advantages, identify the disadvantages and identify the solution of disadvantages of riddle game.</p><p>The researcher uses descriptive qualitative research. The sources of data taken from participants, social situation and document. In this research, the researcher uses purposive sampling. To collect the data, there are observation, interview and documentation. Data validity is triangulation. The data are analyzed by using condensation, display the data, verification and conclusion.</p>The result of this research are (1) the application of riddle game in teaching speaking is divided into three steps: (a) pre-activities (b) whilst-activities (c) post-activities (2) The advantages of riddle game in teaching speaking makes the students active in learning process, happy, increase their vocabulary, able to pronounce some words well and confident to retell the story (3) The disadvantages: makes the class crowded and riddle game has limited time (4) The solution of disadvantages of riddle game is the teacher can manage the time well and able to control the students well in order to make a good atmosphere of the class.

This study attempts to answer three research questionsdealing with the use of video inteachingwriting procedure text. The questions are;   1) How is the use of video in teaching writing procedure text? , 2) How are the students’ writing after the use of video?, and 3) How are the students’ responses towards the use of video in teaching writing procedure text?.Since this study was descriptive qualitative study, the writer would describe and analyze the existing phenomena during the study.  Furthermore, there were three kinds of instruments used in this study. They were observation checklist, students’ writing, and questionnaire.Based on the findings, the writer noticed that the use of video mostly had the same activities although it was done in three meetings.   The notes were about the analysis of teacher’s activity, students’ activity, teaching and learning process, material, and media used.  In addition, the use of video helped students to create procedure text based on its generic structures and language features. Meanwhile, the result of students’ responses showed that the students were mostly interested in video viewing and agreed that video was helpful in getting the ideas to write.

<p><em>This research was classroom action research. Classroom action research was a research that was conducted by a teacher in order to find out solutions of any problems found during teaching and learning process. In this research, it was done to explain whether by using an outline technique could improve the students’ writing paragraph and also to investigate some factors that influenced the students in writing descriptive paragraph. This research was done at grade VIII B of SMP Negeri 6 Sungai Penuh in academic year 2017/2018. From the result of the test in this research, the result was increased in cycle and two. In cycle one, the mean score was 58.25% and it increased to 76.87%, it increased 18.63% point. It meant that teaching writing through outline improved the students’ writing skill. The improvements were also improved on the result of each sub-indicators of writing test between cycle 1 and 2. </em></p>

In Dyatmika Kindergarten, the students came from different cultural backgrounds and nations. They were taught by English native speaker teacher in English sessions. The students sometimes might understand the intention of the teacher; however, sometimes they might not understand at all. Therefore, the teacher should know how they communicate with the students to avoid misunderstanding. This study aimed at identifying, describing and explaining communication strategies used by English native speaker teacher at Dyatmika Kindergarten during English sessions of the teaching and learning process. This study used descriptive qualitative design, and the data collected through observation and interview. The data were analyzed using taxonomy of communication strategies by Dornyei and Scott (1995). The result indicated there were thirteen communication strategies used by the English native speaker teacher in teaching and learning process. The use of communication strategies by English native speaker teacher was expected to inspire other teachers inside and outside Dyatmika Kindergarten when they communicate with students and make the students understand the message conveyed by the teachers.

Students think that writing skill is difficult because students determine to be difficult to convey their thoughts, ideas, or opinions into a piece of writing. To deal with this problem, it is very necessary to have a media to facilitate students to convey thoughts, ideas, or opinions into a writing. The lack of instructional media used by teachers in the teaching and learning process also causes a sense of laziness and limited ideas on students to take a theme and make it to a complete drama script. This study aims to improve students’ writing skill of drama scripts for VIII B students at SMPN 3 Jombang by using instructional media in the form of short film. Learning by using the short film as media is a mean for teaching writing drama scripts by utilizing listening activities and writing important things  in the film being watched. Then this activity is developed into drama scripts according to the elements, structure and rules of drama.The research method used in this study is a classroom action research conducted for two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle has four steps including planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. This research uses analysis techniques in the form of qualitative descriptive analysis.Based on the result of the study, the use of Short Film as a media improve the students’ writing skill of drama scripts in the eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Jombang. The media has improved students’ writing skill at each stage of the cycle, this can be seen from the improvement in the average value of students during pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II. In the pre-cycle stage, the average value of students gets 66.75. In the first cycle, it has increased the average value to 73.25 and in the second cycle, it has also increased to 84.5.

This research aims at improving the writing learning process of the tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Jiwan through closed group Facebook. This research used descriptive qualitative research and data collected using methodological triangulation. Then, to collect the data, researcher needs a technique that is called technique of collecting data. There were observation, interview and documentation.Based on the result of this research, Closed Group Facebook is more interesting than write on paper, helps the students to active in teaching writing, makes easier to share problem in their writing, can increase the students’ interest to learn writing, makes the students easily understand their mistake in writing by giving friend’s feedback in the comment, makes the students enjoy in learning writing.Meanwhile, the disadvantages are first, Closed Group Facebook only can be accessed if there is quota internet or access wi-fi. The second, students’ activity can not be controlled by the teacher when they are opening Facebook or when they operate their gadget. It can be concluded that using closed group Facebook can improve students’ writing skill. The last, the researcher also gives the suggestion for the teacher, students, school, and future researcher that they should do better research.

English is a foreign language (EFL) for Indonesian students. Therefore, many students still get difficulties to comprehend an English reading text that they read. To overcome the problem, this classroom action research investigated how to improve the students' active participation and their reading comprehension achievement by using Semantic Mapping technique. The research participants were the eighth-grade students at SMPN 8 Jember. Based on the results of the observation and a reading comprehension test, it can be concluded that the implementation of Semantic Mapping technique could improve the eighth-grade students’ achievement in reading comprehension of descriptive text. The research results also showed that the students became more fun and more actively participated both individually and in a group during the teaching and learning process of reading comprehension.

Understanding the concept is a benchmark students can proceed to the next stage in the learning process. Van Hiele's thinking stage is a solution to direct students to the actual concept of geometry. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an increase in understanding of the geometrical concepts of eighth grade students of SMPN 8 Langsa through Van Hiele thinking stages. This study used a One Group Pretest-Posttest Desaign research design. With a population of all eighth grade students of SMPN 8 Langsa, the sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique, namely grade VIII1 students. The instrument uses the ability to understand the ability of geometric concepts in the form of a description consisting of 6 questions. From the results of the calculation of the percentage of students understanding the concept of geometry shows an increase of 48%. The results of data analysis obtained that count> ttable is 12.59> 2.08, this means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so the conclusion obtained is that there is an increase in understanding of students' geometry concepts through the stages of van hiele thinking at SMPN 8 Langsa.

The objective of this experimental research is to know whether or not there is an effect of using Crossword Puzzle on the Eighth grade students’ Reading Comprehension of Descriptive texts at SMP Negeri 1 Barat. The researcher uses design True-experimental research in sub design The Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group Design.  This research uses random sampling. The data collection method is test.  The researcher uses primary data consisted of the students’ scores collected by a Reading Comprehension. The researcher uses Pair-Sample t-test to know the result whether it was statistically significant. In research procedure the researcher uses planning, application, and reporting. The results of the research are that: (1) the procedures of teaching reading by using Crossword Puzzle consists of preparation and teaching and learning process. In preparation activities, the researcher prepares the material of descriptive text and RPP or lesson plan. In teaching and learning process, the researcher does three activities in two meetings. The first meeting, teaching a reading by using a conventional technique and the second meeting, by using a Crossword Puzzle. (2) The effect of using a Crossword Puzzle on the eighth grade students’ reading comprehension of the descriptive text at SMP Negeri 1 Barat is significant. It can be seen from the significant value (2-tailed) of  that is 0.000.  It is lower than 0.05. It means that the mean score of one class is different. The mean score of pretest is 55.7813 while the mean score of the post test is 96.7188. It means that a crossword puzzle is effective to teach a reading comprehension..

This research aimed to identify the types of code switching and the students’ perception about code switching used by the English teachers in the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Sawan. This research was conducted in descriptive qualitative design. The subjects of this research were the eighth grade students and the eighth grade English teachers. The instruments used in this study were observation sheet, questionnaire, and interview guide. The results of this research showed that there were three types of code switching used by the English teachers. The data showed there were (31.7%) of intra sentential code switching, (54.8%) of inter sentential code switching and  (13.4%) of inter personal code switching.The results of the questionnaire showed that the average responses of the students were (70.74%), it means that students were catagorized to have positive perception about the use of code switching by the English teachers. The interview shows that the students had positive response about the use of code switching by the English teachers. There were two reasons concerning the students’ positive answer, that is, code switchings that make the students understand the material more easily, and code swicthings that reduce the students’ stress in learning.
