It proved by the fact that 4 students (33.33%) classified as high ability, 4 students (33.33%) classified as moderate ability, and 4 students (33.33%) classified as low ability. Based on the data, the students’ score were bigger in the high and moderate level than in the low ability level. Based on the research finding, the English teacher is suggested to consider the five components in scoring speaking ability (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension). Background: As various dental procedures can transmit HIV, rapid HIV oral testing facilities in dental settings could play a major role in prevention of HIV infection. Being most popular HIV testing methods worldwide, the rapid HIV oral test is not available in India and its level of acceptance in Indian dental settings is unexplored. This study conducted with the objective to assess patient’s knowledge about HIV and their willingness toward rapid HIV oral testing in dental settings. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in two dental clinics selected from two different largest mixed socioeconomic housing societies of Jodhpur respectively. A semi structured questionnaire consisting of demographics, respondent’s general knowledge towards AIDS/HIV infection, willingness towards HIV rapid oral test was developed for data collection. Standard descriptive statistics were calculated and comparisons between demographic data and willingness to get tested in dental setting, awareness for HIV etc. were analyzed. Results: Total of 473 age-eligible patients were surveyed out of which 214 were males. The difference about the knowledge of HIV/AIDS between two groups of education levels (p<0.05) was statistically significant and almost 82% of these respondents were willing to have HIV oral rapid saliva testing as a part of regular dental appointment. Conclusions: It can be concluded that dental patient generally are willing for HIV rapid oral testing, but additional studies are needed to explore relevant policy implications.

The objective of the study was to find out whether or not the silent way method can significantly affect students’ speaking competence. The design of this study was a pre-experimental research design (one group pre-test post-test design). The researcher applied a simple random sampling technique. The class 10 IPA1 was taken as the sample of the study with 18 students. The instrument of this study was an oral test in pre-test and post-test. This research was conducted through the following procedures: giving a pre-test, applying treatments and giving a post-test. The data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test. Through the SPSS16.0 version. The result showed that the mean score on students’ speaking competence in a pre-test was 32.22 and in the post-test was 49.44. Hypothesis testing found that the value of sig (2 tailed) was 0.00 while the significant alpha value was 0.0. It could be concluded that the value of sig (2 tailed) was lower than the significant alpha value was (0.00<0.05). Therefore, H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. So, the use of the silent way method had a significant on the students’ speaking competence at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Kontu kowuna.

Despite the high frequency of occurrences of wh-interrogatives in daily use, there are repeated negative comments about the poor mastery of the wh-interrogative structure among Hong Kong students. However, so far little attention has been paid to their difficulties in the acquisition of the structure. There is a strong need to understand what linguistic knowledge they possess, and identify the learning difficulties in order to seek ways to address them. This study obtained its quantitative data from three classes of Hong Kong Secondary 3 students through a written test and an oral test. The major learning difficulties found include the word order transfer from the Chinese language, failure to use correct verb phrase structures, and erroneous use of some wh-words ( whose, which, and how) and wh-phrases (e.g. how far, whose bag). The findings also reveal learning difficulties related to learner variables. Students of different English proficiency levels showed wide variation in their understanding of interrogative structures. The pedagogical implications are discussed.
