In recent years, one of the most popular innovations that has accompanied the rapid changes in portable computers, Internet speed and personal digital assistants (PDAs) is augmented reality (AR). At the present, major investments concerning AR are being made, and it is predicted that there will be even further investment in the automotive, media/telecom, healthcare services, consumption and retail, industrial products, power tools, energy and mining, financial services, accommodation, and travel sectors within the next five years. AR is used in different sectors for various purposes such as service, manufacture, sales and marketing, design, operations, education, and quality and guidance. Researchers and educational technologists in particular have conducted different studies on the use of AR in educational environments. In studies implemented with participants who are receiving both K-12 and higher education, the integration of AR into the learning and teaching process has been investigated. The main object of interest is whether the use of AR as a new technology in educational environments will improve the current environments. Examining the literature concerning the use of AR in education, the majority of findings show that AR affects the learning process positively. In the findings, it is generally stressed that AR makes the learning process more interesting and efficient, provides the opportunity for interaction, increases the motivation toward and interest in the lesson, and affects attitudes toward learning positively. Even though the use of AR in educational environments has positive aspects, the study of AR is just beginning. Indeed, despite many advantages, it also has a number of disadvantages that need to be taken into consideration. Thus, there is an increasing number of experimental studies implemented in different disciplines and using different variables. In this study, an in-depth review was performed by addressing different aspects of the use of AR in educational environments.

Abstract: Introduction: The teaching-learning process in health involves a binomial: on the one hand, teaching (the teacher and the institution) and, on the other hand, the students and their ability to adequately interact in this context. Just as teaching requires specific skills, learning also requires students to be able to master the necessary skills for learning. Feedback should also be understood in this regard. Although feedback is a frequent topic in the literature, few studies have addressed its meaning and impact from the students’ perspective. Moreover, a gap has been identified between theory and practice regarding the real power of feedback in the teaching-learning process. Objective: This study aimed to assess medical students’ understanding of feedback. Method: This is a qualitative research with a descriptive and exploratory focus, carried out using in the case study modality, with the focus group technique in data collection and thematic content analysis. The participants were medical students attending the fourth-year or eighth-semester at three schools located in the state of Goiás, Brazil. Results: The following categories emerged: understanding of feedback, frequency of received feedback, impact of feedback on the teaching-learning process and perception about the received feedback. Students understood in part the concept of feedback, not recognizing the internal feedback. A low frequency of feedback was reported and depended on the teacher, subject and year/semester of the course related to the type of curriculum. Even so, the participants recognized the points of feedback that impact on the teaching-learning process and were receptive to effective feedback. Conclusion: Even though they knew the meaning of feedback only partially and experienced it irregularly, medical students recognized the impact of this tool on the teaching-learning process. In a context of students trained to know about their own knowledge, truly empowering them in the teaching-learning process, they will develop a constant reflective practice of generating internal feedback, allowing the actual impact of feedback on the teaching-learning process to be observed in practice, as described in the literature.

No one will argue on this statement as long as ICT is appropriately utilized (well planned, integrated, and sustained) in the instructional activities. However, most research or studies on ICT utilization only focus more on the impact of students’ learning achievement and less on the challenges that teachers face in utilizing ICT in their teaching learning process. In other words, has ICT utilization in schools been well planned, integrated, and sustained? If the answer is “Yes”, what are the steps that have been taken to utilize ICT for learning? If the answer is “No”, what are the causes? Why are there some more developed schools in utilizing ICT and followed with improvement of their students’ learning achievement (ICT gives possitive impact)? It can be stated that there are some factors of opportunities, challenges, as well as hopes that need to be considered before or during utilizing ICT in teaching-learning process. This has attracted the author to conduct a study that is based on some references and supported by some observation and discussion with some teachers and educational personnels. The objective of this study is to know some opportunities, challenges, and hopes in ICT utilization for learning that can be used as references to facilitate teachers in utilizing ICT in their teaching-learning process. Keywords: Information and Communication Technology (ICT), learning, learning achievement
