This paper presents an effective mobile three-dimensional (3D) measurement system that can obtain measurements from the inside of large structures such as railway vehicles, elevators, and escalators. In the proposed method, images are acquired by moving measurement equipment composed of a ring laser and two cameras. From the acquired images, accurate cross-sectional shapes, which are obtained via a light-section method by each camera, are integrated into a unified coordinate system using pose estimation based on bundle adjustment. We focus on the method of separately extracting the information necessary for the two processes – the light-section method and pose estimation – from the acquired images. The laser areas used for the light-section method are detected by a bandpass color filter. Further, a new block matching technique is introduced to eliminate the influence of the laser light, which causes incorrect detection of corresponding points. Through an experiment, we confirm the validity of the proposed 3D measurement method.

The millimeter-wave (mmWave) is expected to deliver a huge bandwidth to address the future demands for higher data rate transmissions. However, one of the major challenges in the mmWave band is the increase in signal loss as the operating frequency increases. This has attracted several research interests both from academia and the industry for indoor and outdoor mmWave operations. This paper focuses on the works that have been carried out in the study of the mmWave channel measurement in indoor environments. A survey of the measurement techniques, prominent path loss models, analysis of path loss and delay spread for mmWave in different indoor environments is presented. This covers the mmWave frequencies from 28 GHz to 100 GHz that have been considered in the last two decades. In addition, the possible future trends for the mmWave indoor propagation studies and measurements have been discussed. These include the critical indoor environment, the roles of artificial intelligence, channel characterization for indoor devices, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, and mmWave for 6G systems. This survey can help engineers and researchers to plan, design, and optimize reliable 5G wireless indoor networks. It will also motivate the researchers and engineering communities towards finding a better outcome in the future trends of the mmWave indoor wireless network for 6G systems and beyond.

Rapid progress in modern manufacturing demands for better measurement technique with on-line characteristics. This paper presents a systematic visual solution for on-line industrial 3D measurement. The solution comprises two parts, a multi-sensor visual inspecting station (MSVIS) and a digital close-range visual inspecting station (DCVIS). MSVIS is an integrated system with many sensors. It can meet the requirement of application with sparse measuring points distributed within a large volume. DCVIS only contains two digital cameras with one or more projectors. It has high relative accuracy and a small set up volume and is suitable for applications with dense measuring points. The combined use of MSVIS and DCVIS can provide a general solution for on-line industrial 3D measurement.

This workshop presents guidelines and tools for action research in the school library which will help the librarian justify expenditures and personnel and evaluate and plan services. It shows how statistics can be turned into meaningful knowledge about what is currently being done in your library, how well it is being done, whether it should be done, and what needs to be known to prepare for the future. Included are types of measurements, measurement techniques, meaningful data analysis, and pungent reporting of data to a variety of audiences.
