The present investigation consisted of 9 lines, 3 testers with their 27 F1 hybrids developed through line x tester mating fashion in randomized block design with three replications. Parents and hybrids differed significantly for gca and sca effects, respectively. Among the parents, maximum gca effect was found in EC 112241 and Aruna for inter node distance, EC 112241 and Arka Anamika for single fruit weight, EC 109454, EC 169344 and Arka Anamika for number of branches per plant, EC 169331 and Arka Anamika for number of fruits per plant, EC 109454 and Aruna for plant height at final harvest. The crosses exhibited maximum positive significant sca effect was observed in EC 112241 x Aruna, EC 109454 x Kashi Kranti and EC 112264 x Aruna were found as good specific combiners for single fruit weight, number of branches per plant and number of fruits per plant respectively. The hybrid EC 112264 x Aruna exhibited maximum significant negative sca effects for inter node distance and plant height at final harvest.

This research aims 1) To determine the effect of interaction of different plant spacing and the provision of mulch to growth and yield of tomato plants. 2) To know the different spacing affect the growth and yield of tomato plants. 3) To know the use of mulch type effect on growth and yield of tomato plants. This research was conducted by using Randomized Block Design in Factorial (RAK) with 2 factors, first factor is plant spacing (J) consisting of 3 levels ie 40x30 cm (J1), 40x50 cm (J2), 40x70 cm (J3) . The second factor is mulch (M) consisting of 3 levels ie: without mulch (M0 / control), straw mulch (M1), plastic mulch (M2). The variables observed were plant height, number of branches, number of bunches, number of fruit, and fruit weight. Data were analyzed by using variance analysis (Anova), 5% level. The results showed that: There was no interaction between plant spacing and mulch on growth and yield of tomato plants. Treatment spacing 40x50 (J2) effect on the number of bunches of 35 HST, the weight of the first harvest fruit and total fruit weight. The use of straw mulch type (M1) has an effect on plant height, number of branches, number of 35 HST bunches, and total fruit weight.

A field experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Research Farm Department of Horticulture, J. V. College, Baraut, Bhagpat during the year 2011 with the cultiver “Arka Anamica” was done in Randomized Block Design (R.B.D) with three replication. The experiments consisted of 16 treatments viz. N1 (80:60:60) NPK (Kg.)/ha, N2 (60:40:40) NPK (Kg.)/ha, N3 (40:20:20) NPK (Kg.)/ha, B1 (Azotobacter) 7kg/ha, B2 (Phosphate Soluble Bacteria) 7kg /ha, B3 (Azotobacter + PSB) and B0 (Control). The Maximum results an different attributes viz. Plant Height (67.30 cm.), No. of leaves per plant (63.95), No. of green pod per branch (3.87), and Area of green pod (48.69 cm2), Days to 50 % germination (7.25) and Days to 50 % flowering (20.06) were recorded under the treatment B3, where as Azotobacter 7 kg/ha + Phosphate Soluble Bacteria 7 kg./ha. Compression to the treatment B1, where as Azotobacter 7 kg/ha and better results like, Number of branches per plant (4.58), leaf area (267.57 cm2), Number of green pod per plant (3.87), Fresh weight per green pod (8.11 gm.) and Green pod yield per plot (3382.56gm.) were recorded under the treatment B3 (Azotobacter 7kg/ha + PSB 7kg/ha), followed by N1 (80:60:60) NPK (Kg.)/ha and minimum results were found under the control.

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis kompos dan pemangkasan terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman okra. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan dan Laboratorium Hortikultura Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Darussalam Banda Aceh, dari bulan Mei sampai Agustus 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial 4x2 dengan 3 ulangan dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur taraf  5% pada hasil uji F yang signifikan. Faktor pertama adalah dosis kompos dengan 4 taraf yaitu: 0, 75, 150, dan 225 g.polibag-1. Faktor kedua adalah pemangkasan dengan 2 taraf yaitu: pemangkasan dan tanpa pemangkasan. Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, diameter pangkal batang, jumlah buah per tanaman, panjang buah, total berat buah per tanaman, berat berangkasan basah, dan Indeks panen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, perlakuan dosis kompos berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 45 HST dan berpengaruh nyata pada umur 60 HST. Pertumbuhan tanaman okra terbaik terdapat pada dosis kompos 225 g.polibag-1. Pemangkasan berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman umur 60 HST, parameter pertumbuhan dan hasil terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan pemangkasan. Kombinasi perlakuan terbaik antara dosis kompos dan pemangkasan terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman okra terdapat pada dosis kompos 225 g. polibag-1 dengan pemangkasan.The Effect of Compost Dosage and Pruning on Growth and Yield of Okra Plants (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench)Abstract. This study aims to determine the effect of compost dosage and pruning on the growth and yield of okra plants. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden and Horticulture Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam Banda Aceh, from May to August 2018. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) factorial pattern 4x2 with 3 repetation and continued with a 5% Honest Real Difference test on a significant F test result. The first factor was compost dosage with 4 levels, namely: 0, 75, 150, and 225 g.polibag-1. The second factor is pruning with 2 levels, namely: pruning and non- pruning. The parameters observed were plant height, stem base diameter, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, and total fruit weight per plant, wet strength weight, and harvest index. The results showed that the treatment of compost dosage had a very significant effect on plant height of 45 HST and had a significant effect on the age of 60 HST. The best growth of okra plants is in compost dosage 225 g. Polyibag-1. Pruning has a significant effect on plant height at 60 HST, growth parameters and the best result is in pruning treatment. The best combination of treatment between compost dosage and pruning on the growth and yield of the okra plant is in compost dosage 225 g. polybag-1 with pruning.

The study was conducted in Pepara Village, Tanah Grogot District, Paser Regency. The research was conducted from October 2018 to February 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of planting distance and mulch use on the growth and yield of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.). This research was in the form of an experiment using a Randomized Block Design arranged in factorial two factors with three replications. The first factor is the treatment of plant spacing with three levels, namely j1 = 60 x 60 cm, j2 = 60 x 70 cm, j3 = 60 x 80 cm. The second factor is the use of mulch which consists of 3 levels, namely m1 = no mulch, m2 = rice straw mulch, m3 = silver black plastic mulch.  Based on the results of the study showed the results that plant spacing had a very significant effect on the height of Chilli plants at the age of 2 MST and 4 MST, the number of productive branches, the number of fruits per crop of the second harvest sample, the weight of the fruit per crop of the second harvest sample, weight of fruit per bed and weight of fruit per hectare. The use of mulch also has a very significant effect on plant height at ages 2 MST, 4 MST, number of productive branches, the weight of fruit per crop of the second harvest sample, weight of fruit per bed and weight of fruit per hectare. While the interaction between the two plant spacing treatments with the use of mulch had no significant effect on plant height at ages 2 MST, 4 MST, 6 MST, the number of proactive branches, the number of fruit planted samples, the weight of fruit planted samples, fruit weight per bed and fruit weight per hectare.

The purpose of this study were: (1) To determine the effect of dolomite lime and phosphorus fertilization on soils that were often inundated on the growth and yield of peanuts, (2) to determine the interaction between these two factors on the growth and production of peanuts in soils that were often inundated. The experimental design used in this study was "Randomized Block Design", with 3 (three) replications and 2 (two) factors studied, namely the effect of dolomite (Liming) (K) lime with 4 (four) levels, namely; K0 = 0 gr / polybag, K1 = 2 gr / polybag, K2 = 4 gr / polybag, and K3 = 6 gr / polybag. While Phosphorus (Sp-36) (P) fertilization with 3 (three) levels, namely; P0 = 0 gr / polybag, P1 = 2.5 gr / polybag, P2 = 5 gr / polybag. The variables observed to show the effect of dolomite lime and Sp-36 fertilization were: (1) Plant height: measured at the age of 21, 42, 63 days after planting (DAS). (2) A number of branches per clump (cm). (3) The number of flowers per family. (4) The yield of pods per polybag (gram). And (5) the number of pods per (fruit). The results of the research on the effect of dolomite liming treatment on the growth and yield of groundnut showed that: (1) had a very significant effect (level of 1%) on plant height at 21, 42 and 63 DAS, (2) had no significant effect on the number of branches per clump, (2) 3) It had a significant effect (level of 5%) on the number of flowers per clump, (4) had a very significant effect (level of 1%) on the yield of pods per polybag, and (5) had a very significant effect (level of 1%) on the number of pods per hill. While the effect of phosphorus fertilization treatment on the growth and yield of peanuts showed that: (1) had a very significant effect (level of 1%) on plant height at 21 and 42 DAS, (2) had no significant effect on the number of branches per clump, (3) very real (level 1%) on the number of flowers per clump, (4) had a very significant effect (level 1%) on the yield of pods per polybag, and (5) had a significant effect (level 5%) on the number of pods per hill. The interaction between dolomite liming and phosphorus fertilization on the growth and yield of peanuts in all the variables studied (plant height, number of branches per clump, number of flowers per clump, a yield of pods per polybag and number of pods per hill), showed a very significant effect (level 1%).Keywords: Dolomite lime, phosphorus fertilization, soil, peanuts.

Kandungan Ca-oksalat yang tinggi pada buah nenas kurang baik bagi kesehatan, sedangkan tanaman nenas yang daunnya tidak berduri memudahkan petani dalam pemeliharaannya. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pertumbuhan dan hasil beberapa kandidat varietas nenas rendah oksalat dan nenas manis tanpa duri. Penelitian dilakukan mulai bulan Juni 2009 sampai dengan Desember 2010 di Kebun Percobaan Subang. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan ialah acak kelompok dengan lima perlakuan yaitu dua kandidat varietas nenas rendah oksalat (Q dan EE), satu kandidat varietas nenas manis tanpa duri (P), dan dua varietas pembanding (Simadu dan Ponggok) dengan empat ulangan. Setiap unit percobaan terdiri atas 52 tanaman dan jumlah sampel yang diamati ialah 10 tanaman yang diambil secara acak. Tanaman nenas ditanam dengan sistem dua baris, jarak antarbaris 90 cm dan jarak tanam dalam baris (50 x 50) cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada akhir pertumbuhan vegetatif (umur 11 bulan setelah tanam) rerata tinggi tanaman pada aksesi yang diuji  berbeda nyata, sedangkan varietas Ponggok mempunyai tinggi tanaman tertinggi (88,94 cm), jumlah daun antaraksesi tidak berbeda nyata, yaitu berkisar 41-51 helai. Persentase tanaman berbuah terbanyak ialah varietas Ponggok (94,86%),  sebaliknya  varietas Simadu  paling sedikit (5,6%). Aksesi P, Q, dan EE mempunyai kualitas buah yang kurang baik dibandingkan varietas pembanding  Simadu, tetapi aksesi EE mempunyai kualitas buah (bobot buah 910,00 g, vitamin C 24,53 mg/100 g, dan kadar oksalat 486,85 ppm) yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan varietas pembanding Ponggok. Aksesi EE berpeluang untuk dijadikan varietas unggul baru.<br /><br /><br /><br />The high Ca-oxalate content in pineapple fruit is not good for health. Meanwhile pineapple plants with spineless leaves make farmers easy in their maintainance. The aim of this research was to evaluate growth and yield of several pineapple candidates  with low oxalate, sweet taste, and spineless leaves.  The research was conducted from June 2009 to December 2010 at Subang Research Station. A randomized block design with five treatments (two candidates of pineapple varieties with low oxalate content (Q and EE), one candidate of pineapple variety with spineless leaves (P), and two popular varieties as comparison (Simadu and Ponggok) with four replications was used in this study.  Each unit experiment consisted of 52 plants and 10 plants of sampled randomly were observed. Pineapple plants were planted in two rows with plant distance 50x50 cm. The results showed that at the end of vegetative growth (11 months after planting) the average plant height of accessions tested were significantly different, Ponggok variety had the highest of plant height (88.94 cm) but the number of leaves ranging from 41-51was not significantly different. Ponggok variety had the highest percentage of fruiting plants (94.86%), and conversely Simadu variety was the least one (5.6%). Accessions of P, Q, and EE produced lower fruit quality than Simadu, but accession of EE had better fruit quality in fruit weight 910.00 g, vitamin C 24.53 mg/100 g, and oxalate content 486.25 ppm than Ponggok variety. The EE was a promising accession that can be realeased as a new superior variety.<br /><br />

Soybean is one of the most important food crops in Indonesia after rice and corn, due to its protein content reaches 40%. Rainfed lowland can be used as expansion planting area in hopes of obtaining high productivity with efficient inputs. In order to increase yield, it is necessary to apply the Bio-Detas input package that priorities the use of adaptive improved varieties, organic fertilizers and biological pesticides. This research aim to investigate the response of four Indonesian improved soybean varieties based on the application of Bio-Detas input package in rainfed lowland. The experiment was conducted from March to July 2018 in Pengembur Village, Central Lombok Regency of West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. The experiment was conducted using a non-factorial randomized block design with varieties as treatments, namely Argomulyo, Burangrang, Dega-1, and Dena-1. Each treatment was repeated three times therefore there were 12 experimental plots in total. Parameters observed during the vegetative and generative phases including plant height, number of branches, number of leaves, number of nodus, number of flowers and number of pods. Data were collected from five plants for each replication. Results showed that varieties had a significant influence on the number of leaves, number of nodus and number of flowers during the vegetative phase. While during the generative phase there were a significant effect of varieties on plant height, number of leaves and number of nodus. Due to dry season occurred earlier in April, yield on Bio-Detas input package was reached 578 kg/ha compared to farmer’s existing technology was 393 kg/ha.

Introduction: The research was aimed to obtain the dosage of NASA liquid organic fertilizer (LOF), goat manure (GM) and combinations are appropriate to support the growth and yield of wax apple. Materials and Methods: This research was conducted at Payaroba Street, Binjai City, North Sumatra Province from Juni to December 2018. This research used the randomized block design factorial within the first factor was NASA LOF (C0= 0 ml.l-1; C1= 1 ml.l-1; C2= 2 ml.l-1; C3= 3 ml.l-1 in water), and the second factor was GM (K0= 0 kg.polybag-1; K1= 0.5 kg.polybag-1; K2= 1.0 kg.polybag-1; K3= 1.5 kg.polybag-1) using three replications. Parameters were analyzed using the ANOVA and continued with the least significance different at rate of 5%. Results: GM significantly increased the plant height, stem diameter, number of flower, and fruit weight of wax apple along with increasing doses until 1.5 kg.polybag-1 of 11.76%; 16.70%; 12.90%; and 7.55% respectively, and accelerating the flowering of 2.98 days compared to un-treated. The application of NASA LOF significantly increased the plant height, stem diameter, and number of flower by wax apple along with increasing doses until 3 ml.l-1 water by 7.51%; 46.61%; and 11.04%, and accelerating the flowering of 5.16 days compared to un-treated. The combination of NASA LOF at 2 ml.l-1 water and GM at 1.5 kg.polybag-1 significantly increased the stem diameter by 52.89% compared to the control combination. However, it did not show a significant effect on plant height, flowering, number of flower, and fruit weight of wax apple.

Research was aimed to evaluate  performance of new genotypes of soybean selected in shaded environment under rubber stands and compare it with superior soybean varieties. Field experiment was arranged in a simple Randomized Block Design. Treatments comprised five levels namely four soybean genotypes selected in artificial shade and one shade tolerant superior soybean variety as a check. Each treatment was replicated 5 times. Experimental unit was a plot with size 3 m x 2 m  with 100 plant population. Ten plants were used as samples. Observations were made on growth and yield variables. Such variables were plant height, number of branches, and stem diameter, while the observed yield variables included number of pod per plant, 100 seed weight, and seed weight of 10 plants. Observed data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test at α 5% level to compare the tested genotypes. Results showed that all the tested soybean genotypes gave the same performance with superior varieties of Anjasmoro in terms of stem diameter, number of branches, number of pods per plant, weight of 100 seeds, and seed weight of 10 stems of the plant. The difference was seen in of plant height where the selection genotypes were significantly shorter than  Anjasmoro Variety.
