Larvicidal activity of Tagetes and Mentha arvensis essential oil against the different instar larvae of Culex mosquitoes. Mosquitoes larvae are the attractive goal for pesticides as mosquitoes used to breed in standing water and therefore it is easy to deal with them in this type of habitat. The use of chemical pesticides may introduce harm to the lives of people and environment. Natural pesticides that we obtained from plants are better and promising than this chemical pesticides. Different aromatic plants oils that we obtained are used in different respects. Mosquitoes are the life threatening vectors which cause several harmful diseases like malaria, Zika virus and dengue. This study deals with the essential oils and extracts which work against this life threatening vector. The pesticidal activity of essential oil of Mentha against the mosquitoes larvae is due to its menthol content which is the main aroma spreading component of Mentha . Mosquitoes feed on the blood and severe as the important vector for spreading diseases related to human. Synthetic chemical pesticides are toxic and contaminating our environment. Natural pesticides may serve as a suitable alternative technique in future. The natural pesticides are effective, eco- friendly and safe surroundings. Mentha and Tagetes were tested for their repellency against Culex quinquefasciatus.

Aphids are the major pest on crops. Use of chemical pesticides create problems. Chemical pesticides affect the human health, environment and also affects non target organisms. Natural insecticide produced from plants are more promising. The Cymbopogon citratus and Hibiscus rosa sinensis are very important plant which have great effect on insects. The aim of this review to tell about essential oil and extracts which affects insect growth and how much it is effective. The problem of agriculture crop was pests and these pests are responsible for damaging crops and effect nutritive value. Lemon grass oil repels insects like mosquitoes, aphids due to which it contains citral and also myrcene, citronella, citronellol, and geraniol. The essential oil is derived from aromatic plants has observed as risk free alternatives.

One of the most important families of Iranian flora is Apiaceae (Umbelliferae). Most of the species of this family are aromatic plants and rich in essential oils with diverse structures. In the present review, the essential oil composition of 63 genera comprising 141 Apiaceae (66.4% native 33.6% endemic) is summarized.

AbstractZika virus (ZIKV) is an arbovirus transmitted mainly by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Recent scientific evidence on Culex quinquefasciatus has suggested its potential as a vector for ZIKV, which may change the current risk zones. We aimed to quantify the world population potentially exposed to ZIKV in a spatially explicit way, considering the primary vector (A. aegypti) and the potential vector (C. quinquefasciatus). Our model combined species distribution modelling of mosquito species with spatially explicit human population data to estimate ZIKV exposure risk. We estimated the potential global distribution of C. quinquefasciatus and estimated its potential interaction zones with A. aegypti. Then we evaluated the risk zones for ZIKV considering both vectors. Finally, we quantified and compared the people under risk associated with each vector by risk level, country and continent. We found that C. quinquefasciatus had a more temperate distribution until 42° in both hemispheres, while the risk involving A. aegypti is concentrated mainly in tropical latitudes until 35° in both hemispheres. Globally, 4.2 billion people are under risk associated with ZIKV. Around 2.6 billon people are under very high risk associated with C. quinquefasciatus and 1 billion people associated with A. aegypti. Several countries could be exposed to ZIKV, which emphasises the need to clarify the competence of C. quinquefasciatus as a potential vector as soon as possible. The models presented here represent a tool for risk management, public health planning, mosquito control and preventive actions, especially to focus efforts on the most affected areas.

<em>Dracocephalum moldavica </em>L. and <em>Dracocephalum kotschyi </em>Boiss. are aromatic plants belonging to Lamiaceae family.<strong> </strong>The aim of this study was to identify the chemical components of <em>D. kotschyi<strong> </strong></em>and <em>D. moldavica</em> from Iran.<strong> </strong>The aerial parts of <em>D. kotschyi </em>were collected from (Kamu Mountain) Isfahan province and the aerial parts of <em>D. moldavica</em> were collected from Sari (Mazandaran province) North of Iran, during 2014. The essential oil was extracted by a Clevenger approach and analyzed using GC/MS. In total, 32 and 24 compounds were identified in the essential oil from the aerial parts <em>D. kotschyi<strong> </strong></em>and <em>D. moldavica</em>, respectively. The results obtained in our study indicated that the major components in the oil <em>D. kotschyi<strong> </strong></em>were limonene (23.56 %), carvacrol (14.65 %), γ-terpinene (12.99 %), α -pinene (12.62 %), 2-methyl-1-octen-3-yne (9.73 %), camphene (4.66 %), myrcene (3.65 %) and α -terpinene (3.12 %). The major constituents of the oil <em>D. moldavica</em> were geranyl acetate (36.62 %), geraniol (24.31 %), neral (16.25 %) and geranial (11.21 %). <em>D. kotschyi </em>is one of the important sources of limonene and<em> D. moldavica </em>is one of the important sources of geranyl acetate.

After a 40-year hiatus, the International Congress of Entomology (ICE 2016) convened in Orlando, Florida (September 25-30, 2016). One of the symposia at ICE 2016, the Zika Symposium, covered multiple aspects of the Zika epidemic, including epidemiology, sexual transmission, genetic tools for reducing transmission, and particularly vector competence. While there was a consensus among participants that the yellow fever mosquito, Aedes aegypti, is a vector of the Zika virus, there is growing evidence indicating that the range of mosquito vectors might be wider than anticipated. In particular, three independent groups from Canada, China, and Brazil presented and discussed laboratory and field data strongly suggesting that the southern house mosquito, Culex quinquefasciatus, also known as the common mosquito, is highly likely to be a vector in certain environments.
