With crowdsourcing systems, labels can be obtained with low cost, which facilitates the creation of training sets for prediction model learning. However, the labels obtained from crowdsourcing are often imperfect, which brings great challenges in model learning. Since 2008, the machine learning community has noticed the great opportunities brought by crowdsourcing and has developed a large number of techniques to deal with inaccuracy, randomness, and uncertainty issues when learning with crowdsourcing. This paper summarizes the technical progress in this field during past eleven years. We focus on two fundamental issues: the data (label) quality and the prediction model quality. For data quality, we summarize ground truth inference methods and some machine learning based methods to further improve data quality. For the prediction model quality, we summarize several learning paradigms developed under the crowdsourcing scenario. Finally, we further discuss several promising future research directions to attract researchers to make contributions in crowdsourcing.

The goal of this writing is to explore the learning speaking through learning community. Learning community is of element of contextual teaching and learning. Contextual teaching and learning (CTL) is approaches to be most effective in student learning, teachers must plan, implement, reflect upon, and revise lessons. Such plans are based on CTL principles and approaches that require teachers to serve in the following roles: facilitator, organizer of the teaching/learning/assessment process, role model, learning mentor, content specialist, and knowledge dispenser. A learning community is a model of teaching and learning that has been consistently shown to improve students’ speaking. The reason why learning community can enhance the students’ in expressing idea because it has the meaning as follows: 1).Group of learning which communicate to share the idea and experience, 2).Working together to solve the problem and 3).The responsibility of each member of learning group.

Online discussion can be designed to develop the skills and confidence of students as well as providing an opportunity for constructing knowledge. If students decide not to participate or join too late, they put their own development and the quality of the learning community at risk. This article reflects on a first term undergraduate experience of a series of online discussion activities which failed to inspire timely and constructive participation. The case study identifies flaws in the design of the discussion, constructed using Salmon’s five-stage model, and shows how easy it is to miss the point when designing an online activity. Participation is a pre-requisite for developing community so this article discusses how professional community development workers identify and overcome barriers to participation strengthening engagement in a community by stimulating personal and emotional interests. In the case study, discussion topics failed to strike a personal chord with many students. This has implications for designing activities that engage each student’s interest from the outset so that participation in the discussion becomes a truly creative experience. Keywords: online discussion; Salmon’s five-stage model; learning communities; student engagementDOI: 10.1080/09687760902951599

In 2003, I began a longitudinal study into the purpose of education. The process of my investigation included getting involved in new innovations as they were introduced to our school board. As I looked deeper into the purpose of schooling I discovered some startling things about how and why systems of education, through the apparatus of schooling, influence who and what, professionally, people become. I also discovered patterns related to the act of becoming that exist in school reforms. This study analyzes three reforms introduced between 2003 and 2017: Professional Learning Community, Differentiation of Instruction, and Social-Emotional Learning.
