Tejidos is a community artistic project that aims to develop a community to give voice to the particular stories of those who live in Oaxaca (women and the deaf community) and Mexico City (older adults). The project has been funded by the Arts Council England (2018) and Iberescena (2019). “Theatre of Yes” is a methodology that uses the power of beauty as a language to break the stereotypes of situations that society views with apathy. By creating a provocative and emotional performance, we can transform the lives of people who suffer social exclusion. Yet, how can we create a high-quality performance with people who are not professional actors but have stories that should be shared? How can we use powerful performances as an axis of change? How can emotions be the motor for the struggle against the social oppression that many groups suffer? Artistic work has helped us to observe how creativity pushes people to find a freer self and, above all, to be close to the essence of the human being. The base of the Theatre of YES brings together the universal characteristics, honesty, simplicity, humility and generosity. The characteristics of the methodology developed with these groups are the yes as a weapon against the non-worthy self, beauty as the axis of change, physical theatre according to the Lecoq methodology.

Abstract Objectives The current study aims to examine how social exclusion is related to subjective well-being in older adults across different European regions. Methods European population-based cross-sectional study design was employed using data sampled from the eighth round of the European Social Survey (ESS). Multiple items for social exclusion were used in this round, including household income, civic participation, frequent meetings with friends and relatives, basic health services, and neighborhood cohesion. Life satisfaction, happiness, and self-rated general health were also assessed. An ANOVA was performed to examine the regional differences related to social exclusion and subjective well-being, while a regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between the social exclusion and subjective well-being. Results There were significant regional differences in the social exclusion and subjective well-being of older Europeans. In addition, older adults in the Nordic nations are more likely to indicate higher levels of subjective well-being and lower levels of social exclusion, while older adults from Central and Eastern European nations tend to report lower levels of subjective well-being and higher levels of social exclusion. Material resources and basic services are highlighted as the most important domains pertaining to life satisfaction, happiness, and general health. Discussion The study findings reinforce the inequality in subjective well-being linked to social exclusion across different societies. Both global and country-specific exclusion models in later life should be implemented in order to enhance comparable research and provide insight into EU and national guidelines for interventions to diminish social exclusion.

Abstract: Social cohesion is defined in, and adapted to, social policymaking in numerous ways. This paper attempts to clarify the definition with regard to the policymaking decisions of the U.K. government. In doing so, it brings to light the efforts of the 1998 Social Exclusion Unit government program that focused on recognizing how poverty grows in individual neighbourhoods, pointing out why neighbourhoods decline and how this could be prevented. The second phase of the program was to establish Policy Action Teams to fast-track policy thinking - including areas such as arts and sports - on the most serious issues within these neighbourhoods. From the Teams' reports, an interdisciplinary approach to social cohesion policymaking evolved. The paper also cites an attempt to benchmark the social impacts of the arts. Résumé: On peut définir la cohésion sociale et la relier à la formulation de politiques sociales de plusieurs façons. Cet article tente de clarifier la définition en décrivant les décisions politiques du gouvernement britannique. L'article examine donc les efforts d'un programme gouvernemental de 1998 appelé « Social Exclusion Unit » (Unité d'exclusion sociale). Ce programme cherchait à apprendre comment et pourquoi la pauvreté augmentait dans certains quartiers et comment prévenir le déclin de ces quartiers. La deuxième partie du programme consistait à établir des « Policy Action Teams » (Équipes d'action politique) - y compris des domaines comme les arts et les sports - pouvant accélérer la formulation de politiques adressant les problèmes les plus sérieux dans ces quartiers. Une approche interdisciplinaire pour traiter de la cohésion sociale a évolué à partir de rapports rédigés par ces équipes. L'article se rapporte aussi à un effort de souligner l'impact social des arts.

La crisis ecológica ha sido objeto de la atención prioritaria por parte del papa Francisco desde el inicio de su pontificado en 2013 hasta el momento. En mayo de 2015 publicó la Encíclica Laudato si’ sobre el cuidado de la casa común, la primera en el magisterio social de la Iglesia católica íntegramente dedicada a las relaciones del ser humano con la naturaleza. Este trabajo trata de sintetizar los aspectos fundamentales de la enseñanza del papa Francisco sobre la crisis ecológica, que constituye una denuncia profética de la degradación ambiental y la exclusión social que el ser humano está llevando a cabo, y que debe ser combatida con urgencia mediante la conversión personal y la transformación del sistema económico dominante. Esa posición no es completamente nueva porque está enraizada en el magisterio de sus antecesores Juan Pablo II y Benedicto XVI. ---------- Pope Francis has devoted particular attention to the ecological crisis since his election in 2013 until now. In May 2015 he published the Encyclical Letter Laudato si’ on care for our common home, the first of the social magisterium of the Church entirely focus to the relationships between human being and nature. This paper intends to synthetize the main aspects of pope Francis teaching on the ecological crisis, which consists in a prophetic denounce of the environmental degradation and social exclusion caused by the humanity, that has to be fought urgently with the personal conversion and the transformation of the dominant economic system. His position is not completely new because is profoundly rooted in the magisterium of his predecessors, John Paul II and Benedict XVI.

AbstractCombating social exclusion of older adults is a key objective of European social policy. But from the beginning of the debate, social exclusion has mainly been interpreted as arising from economic circumstances. Doubts have been raised as to whether this narrow focus contributes to solving the problems identified. In particular, spatial aspects come to the fore, highlighting the fact that exclusion always happens in a specific place. However, spatial exclusion is often reduced to a territorial concept of ‘where’ the exclusion takes place. – but it is simplistic to state that everything happens in a space. The aim of this chapter is twofold. First, it presents a theoretical model, developed during and through the ROSEnet COST Action. The model integrates dimensions of age, space and exclusion in one perspective – the ASE Triangle. Second, this chapter explores the potential of the ASE Triangle to enhance our understanding of two specific European case studies of older people’s exclusion, in Greater Dublin – Ireland, and Nicosia – Cyprus. By ‘upgrading space’ as a theory-led idea we contribute to and challenge existing (human) gerontological theory of space. Similar to the exploration of a relational vision of space, our model does not only consider “experience” of space exclusion, but offers the possibility to simultaneously encompass it in societal processes.

Abstract In recent decades, we observe a significant disorganization of family life, especially in the sphere of parental functions performed by unprepared for the role emotional, socially and economically young people. Lack of education, difficulties in finding work, and the lack of prospects for positive change are the main causes of their impoverishment and progressive degradation in the social hierarchy. Reaching young people at risk of social exclusion and provide them with comprehensive care, should be a priority of modern social work and educational work. In order to provide help this social group and cope with the adverse event created a lot of programs to support systemically start in life. An example would be presented in the article KARnet 15+ program as a form of complex activities of a person stimulating subjectivity, and allows you to modify support in individual cases

Food also reflected as the symbol of individuality, generosity, social status and religious believes etc in a civilized society. Food is not a discriminating aspect. It is the part of a culture, habits, addiction, and identity of a civilization.Food plays a symbolic role in the social activities the world over. It’s a universal sign of hospitality.[1]
