The COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdowns have restricted regular clinical physiotherapy services. This has necessitated a sudden shift to the use of telerehabilitation to prevent disruption in the delivery of physiotherapy interventions. This survey investigates the perceptions of physiotherapists in India and their willingness to use telerehabilitation during the pandemic. An electronic questionnaire was sent to 176 physiotherapists around India, and 118 completed questionnaires were received (acceptance rate of 67.04%). A majority of the respondents (n=67; 77%) had used telerehabilitation for the first time during the pandemic, and 72.9% (n=86) found telerehabilitation to be a viable option for healthcare delivery during the pandemic. Some of the barriers identified were lack of training (n=64; 52%) and a lack of connection between information and communication technology experts and clinicians (n=62; 52.5%). Overall, physiotherapists in India expressed a positive perception of telerehabilitation and are willing to use such services.

This paper characterises the joint impacts of intra- and extra-organisational contexts on innovation development during the socio-economic crisis in Portugal. The characterisation of these contexts in 309 firms of the Information and Communication Technology services sector allowed for the identification of two profiles via a cluster analysis. These were mostly discriminated by financial resources and clients and not by science and technology activities. Subsequently, these profiles were related to innovation, top managers’ perceptions and expectations for the future. The data shows that under favourable contexts, innovation increases, the firm is perceived to drive innovation and confidence in the companies’ future emerges. In more unfavourable scenarios, innovation is compromised, the environment is perceived to block innovation and confidence is halted. This paper establishes companies’ profiles for the first time in Portugal and suggests that intra- and extra-organisational contexts have to be jointly tackled to foster present innovation and promote future activities.

The role of technology in education has been critical in the potential of computer technology to transform teaching and learning. This study explored nursing students' information and communication technology competence and confidence. It presents selected findings that focus on students' attitudes towards information and communication technology as an educational methodology. Information and communication technology is integral to contemporary nursing practice. A cross sectional study was used and the sample consists of 74 undergraduate nurses. The result showed that 95.8% undergraduate nurses have good competence level of ICT and 88.7% undergraduate nurses have positive perception towards the use of ICT while the remaining 11.3% have a negative perception. Findings of the study revealed that majority of the undergraduate nurses have a positive perception and good competence level about ICT. It is therefore the role of the lecturers to design students' curricula program emphasizing importance role ICT in nursing.

Evolution of e-Governance concept in Sri Lanka can be traced back to 1983 because the Government of Sri Lanka for the first time recognized its obligation for ICT development by creating the National Computer Policy of 1983. The Information and Communication Technology Act No. 27 of 2003 came into existence in 2003 and the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka was established. In 2004, “e-Sri Lanka Development Project” was initiated. It included information infrastructure building, improvement of human resources in ICT, citizen-specific service delivery, creating a modern government using ICT for social and economic development, and endorsing Sri Lanka as a destination for ICT. The e-Sri Lanka initiative expects to use ICT to develop the economy of Sri Lanka by reducing poverty and thus improving the quality of life of its citizens. Presently, the government makes an effort in realizing this vision through six programme strategy schemes. This is explored in this chapter.

Abstract The use of information and communication technology in electoral processes has become commonplace, being seen simply as another tool in the hands of policy-makers to improve the quality and effectiveness of public policy and representation. There have been diverse experiences in this area, and the instances in which ICT has been used in the mentioned processes differ. This article analyses and evaluates systematically, for the first time in literature, the incorporation of ICT when voting from abroad, paying attention to the practices of some of those countries that have implemented these technologies in one way or another, into their voting processes. Hence, by introducing the Electronic Voting From Abroad Index, this paper observes at which phase of the process the technology is being used and how this vary from country to country.

The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is progressing very rapidly. Due to the strong era of globalization where computers and the dynamic internet become facilities that have dominated various life activities, so educational activities also require the availability of these facilities. Google Translate becomes one of the translation machines that can be used by academics in translating literature written in foreign languages. Google Translate is one of the media that can make it easier for someone to translate text from various languages into the desired language. This paper uses a descriptive qualitative approach with this literature study method aimed at describing the process of translating foreign language texts and pronunciation into appropriate Indonesian. The media can be used to translate text, both by word, phrase, clause, sentence, and even discourse. However, it is often found errors and irregularities in the translation of the entered text. The results of this study are that academics are greatly helped by the existence of the Google Translate application as a learning medium. Despite the lack of this application, learning academics still have a positive perception of their use. They believe that the results of the translation will remain accurate as long as they can match the context.

This paper studies whether and how information and communication technology (ICT) changes self-construal and cultural values in a developing country. Ethiopian children were given laptops in the context of an ICT for development scheme. We compared children who used laptops (n = 69) with a control group without laptops (n = 76) and a second control group of children whose laptop had broken down (n = 24). Results confirmed that after 1 year of laptop usage, the children’s self-concept had become more independent and children endorsed individualist values more strongly. Interestingly, the impact of laptop usage on cultural values was mediated by self-construal (moderated mediation). Importantly, modernization did not “crowd out” traditional culture: ICT usage was not associated with a reduction in traditional expressions (interdependent self-construal, collectivist values). Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
