Job Satisfaction of Library Professionals of University of Calicut: An Analytical Study

Job and job satisfaction are the twin co-related components of human resource management. It is encompasses the physiological psychological and ecological factors and determines the level of job satisfaction of the employees in any organization. [1] The purpose of this study is to measure the job satisfaction among library professionals in C.H Mohammad Koya Library: University of Calicut. Job satisfaction is an individual feeling which could cause by a variety of factors. The six components of job satisfaction were measures derived through literature: physical environment & ICT infrastructure, organizational culture, personal growth and development, salary, promotion and nature of work.5-point scale were used to examine the job satisfaction of respondents. Questionnaire method was used for data collection and results are tabulated. Outcome of the study has been discussed that although library professionals working in this university library were slightly satisfied with their nature of work, while the salary, promotion, and denied access to benefits were identified as major constraints to job satisfaction. Based on the results, the study recommended that review the conditions attached to promotion, salary, among others as measures for enhancing job satisfaction. It is also suggested that the encourage and motivate the library professionals more incentives and good salary packages are to be offered so that their achievement drive can be activated that in turn lead to high level of job satisfaction.

It is a comparative study regarding job satisfaction among librarians who are serving in public (government) and private sector universities/degree awarding institutes in Lahore. Questionnaires were used to collect data from librarians serving in ten HEC (Higher Education Commission) recognized public and private sector universities/institutes in Lahore. The eight components of job satisfaction were measures derived through literature: physical environment & ICT infrastructure, personal growth, organizational culture, social prestige, salary, rewards, promotion and nature of work. The study observed that librarians serving in public sector universities were more satisfied as compared to the librarians working in private sector universities. While for some aspects, like promotion, private sector universities provided greater opportunities to librarians, as there is a lack of promotional infrastructure in public sector universities of Lahore. The study suggested that authorities in librarianship should formulate policies regarding job satisfaction such as proper reward system or work incentives, encouraging working environment particularly in public sector, and a proper career infrastructure etc

The paper deals with the job satisfaction of the library and information professionals working in government and the private sector libraries in the Fiji. The study was carried out in relation to what is the happiness level of working with their co-workers and how much they are satisfied with their wages and job securities. Library professionals have experienced ignoble and asymmetrical salary payments, lacks of proper housing, inadequate facilities in libraries, low social status given to them and limited opportunities for professional development in Fiji. The main purpose of this study is to find out the major factors affecting career choices, level of job satisfaction, and perceptions of the general image of library professionals in Fiji. This article explores, how much satisfaction of these library professionals, derive from their chosen career and examine the degree of dissatisfaction or areas of discontent among then. Results show that the female professionals are more satisfied from their job as compared to males. Library professionals who are much experienced are possess a proportionately high level of job satisfaction as compared to other age groups. Whereas, those professionals are between ages of 28-35, having a comparatively ignoble level of job satisfaction, compared to another age group of professionals. Unmarried professionals possess a comparatively ignoble level of job satisfaction as compared to married or widow and separated hold comparatively high job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to explore and evaluate the relationship between motivation factors (MF) and job satisfaction (JS) in the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) personnel. There are among the 250 personnel who are serving at Royal Malaysian Navy Head Quarters (RMN HQ), and questionnaires have been distributed to them for data gathering. The study adopted the Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory (1959) as a framework in determining the relationship between MFs and JS among the personnel. To simplify, when an individual has a high level of MFs, which in this study refers to the opportunity for personal growth, promotion opportunity, responsibility, recognition and achievement, the level of satisfaction in doing his/her job is also increased. While for JS refers to workers' who are happy with their job, despite any kind of job, with or without supervision the workers will do their best in doing their work. JS can be measured in cognitive, affective, and behavioural components. Having JS will make an individual more positive and motivated to work independently. SPSS version 22 is used for the analysis of data. The outcomes indicated that there are significant relationships between MFs towards JS among RMN personnel.

The aim of the current study is to look for theoretically and empirically grounded proof for the correlation between aspirations – extrinsic and intrinsic- determining the motivation – and the psychological wellbeing of adolescents in 11th grade. Materialistic orientation is expressed in the preferences of extrinsic goals such as fame, wealth and image, while the intrinsic aspirations are related to preferences of aspirations for personal growth, personal relationships and community contribution. High level of psychological wellbeing is measured through the six elements from K. Ryff’s definition: self-acceptance, positive interaction with others, autonomy, managing of environment, meaning and personal growth. The research includes a group of 50 students in two Bulgarian high schools.

Introduction Community integration is an essential component for rehabilitation among traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors, which yields positive outcomes in terms of social activities, community participation, and productive work. A factor that usually facilitates community integration among TBI survivors is social support, whereas physical environment and fatigue are most often found as barriers. Objectives This study aimed to (1) describe the level of community integration, fatigue, physical environment, and social support of persons after TBI, and (2) examine the relationship between community integration and these three factors. Methods This is a descriptive correlational study. One hundred and twenty TBI survivors living in the communities of Province Number Three, Nepal were enrolled using the stratified sampling technique. The data were collected using the Community Integration Questionnaire, Modified Fatigue Impact Scale, Craig Hospital Inventory of Environmental Factors, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation were used to analyze the data. Results Community integration, fatigue, and physical environment showed a moderate level, while social support revealed a high level. Fatigue was significantly correlated with overall community integration, whereas physical environment was found to correlate with two subscales of community integration, home integration and productive activities. Conclusion To enhance the level of community integration among TBI survivors, health care providers, in particular rehabilitation nurses and community nurses, should plan and implement strategies such as follow-up appointments or continued rehabilitation at home.

Although burnout has been described as a serious hazard for personal and professional lives and has been surveyed among dentists in many countries, no study has been published regarding burnout among dentists in Lithuania. This study aimed to evaluate the burnout level among Lithuanian dentists and its association with demographic variables, job satisfaction, and other job-related variables. The data were collected among dentists online or during professional conferences while using an anonymous questionnaire (n = 380). The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) was used to evaluate the burnout level. A Poisson regression was applied for the analysis of relationships between variables. We observed that 42.3% of the respondents had a high emotional exhaustion (EE) (95% confidence interval (CI): 37.4–42.3%), while 18.7% (95% CI: 15.0–22.9%) and 28,2% (95% CI: 23.4–32.6%) had high depersonalization (DP) and low personal accomplishment (PA), respectively. Nonetheless, 15.3% (95% CI: 11.8–18.9%) of the study population experienced a high level of overall burnout. An original job satisfaction index was elaborated. It was significantly associated with sum scores of all burnout dimensions: with the EE sum score (Ratio of Sum Score Means (RSSM) 1.54; 95% CI: 1.46–1.62), DP sum score (RSSM 1.59; 95% CI: 1.45–1.74), and PA sum score (RSSM 0.88; 95% CI: 0.84–0.92). It was concluded that Lithuanian dentists can be characterised by high burnout intensity and high prevalence of burnout, being especially evident in emotional exhaustion. The dentist with low job satisfaction appeared to be the most vulnerable to all burnout dimensions.

The purpose of this research is to study the need for the students' communication activity component at the Pharmaceutical faculty of VSMU. Dual feature of the levels indicators dynamics in the need for communication is revealed. On the one hand, there is a tendency to reduce the average level in the need for communication and to increase its high level at the expense of girls. On the other hand, there is a fairly significant increase in the average level in the need for communication among young men against the background of an obvious predominance of the average level in the need for communication among the students of the entire sampling. The study allows us to state obvious influence of the informational educational environment at VSMU on the personal growth of students at the Pharmaceutical faculty, on the formation of their communicative competence as the most important component of the professional competence of future pharmacists. The results of the study can be used in the educational process of VSMU, in the activities of the social and pedagogical and psychological service, in the work of educators in academic groups and for tutors.

The article deals with the development of festival tourism in the second half of the 20th century. Festival tourism is referred to the special types of tourism and should satisfy specific needs of people during the trip. The motivational basis of the festival tourism is the desire of people to visit new places, regions and events in the world, including festivals. The article analyzes the main factors of the development of festival tourism in the second half of the 20th century after the end of the Second World War. Six main groups of factors are determined, in particular: civilization, sociological and psychological factors; economic factors; political factors; technological factors; ecological factors and tourism as a factor in festival development. It was established that the progress of civilization and higher incomes made it possible to satisfy the basic social needs in the highly developed countries, as well as to concentrate on high-level needs, including those connected with culture and entertainment, thus, also with festivals. The collapse of the USSR and the democratization of the post-communist countries in Europe caused the appearance of a new cultural and entertainment activity. Moreover, the authorities began to take more and more responsibility for the socioeconomic development of cities and regions, including the cultural aspect, which in turn resulted in promotion of local festivals. The development of transport infrastructure and modern information technologies has also positively contributed to the development of festival tourism. The ecological approach to life and to civilization in general is considered to be an important factor in the development of festival tourism in recent years.

This study examine the various factors which impact on job satisfaction of library staff working in different arts and science colleges affiliated to Bharathidasan university, Trichy. The aim of the study is to determine the level of job satisfaction of a library professionals based on the various concepts which are related to it. The factors such as salary of the staff, quantum of work, salary in relation to experience, opinion about present pay scale, safety of job, job security and freedom of work have been discussed in the study. The study shows that there is an association among the library professionals and the various factors of job satisfaction based on their colleges where they working.

Introduction Care coordination is a priority concern for healthcare systems. In Colombia, there is a lack of information on the topic. This study analysed how doctors of two Bogotá’s public healthcare networks perceived coordination between healthcare levels and what factors are associated with their perception. Methods A cross-sectional study using the COORDENA-CO questionnaire to a sample of 363 doctors (network-1 = 181; network-2 = 182) in 2015. The questionnaire asks about types and dimensions of care coordination: information and clinical management, with items in a Likert scale, as well as conditions regarding health system, organisational and doctors’ conditions. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis were performed. Results The doctors’ perception of a high level of coordination did not exceed 25.4%. On coordination of information, limited transfer of clinical information was found. Concerning clinical management, there were limited care coherence, deficits in patient follow-up and lengthy waiting times for specialised care. A high perception of coordination were associated with being female, being over 50 years old, being a specialist, having less than one year’s working experience, working less than 20 h per week at the centre, forming part of network-1, having time available for performing coordination tasks, having job satisfaction and not identifying limitations imposed by healthcare insurers. Discussion There was limited perception of coordination, in its different dimensions and types with some differences between networks. The results support the importance of guaranteeing job satisfaction, ensuring sufficient time to coordination-related activities and intervening in the restrictions imposed by healthcare insurers to improve care coordination.
