ABSTRACT Objective: to identify themes addressed in studies on the repercussions of nursing training in professional practice in Brazil. Method: this is a qualitative research, following the assumptions of Ganong's Integrative Literature Review (1987). The keywords or terms "Health Care" were used; "Nursing"; "Higher Education"; "Teaching in Higher Education"; "Health Service"; "Human Resources" and "Nursing Undergraduates" in consultation with the Virtual Health Library and the CAPES Portal of Journals. Sixty-four studies were found, of which 41 met the inclusion criteria. Results: in the analysis, three themes were highlighted: pedagogical processes and the role of professors and students; curricular structure in nursing education; management of health training. Final considerations: we observed the need to incorporate the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) principles and directives in nursing education in the country so that the training is consistent with the needs of professional practice. The study points out to the challenges that emerge with this incorporation.

ABSTRACT In order for nursing work not to become mechanistic, the team needs to develop a critical eye to its knowledge, its know-how and its know-to-be. The training of nursing professionals from a critical and reflective perspective motivated this study, which was based on the theoretical reference and the experience of the authors with use of the analytical methodology of the Groupe Entraînement de Analyze de Situations Éducatives (Training Group to Analyze Educational Situations) professional practice. This methodology aims to analyze professional situations in a group with the presence of a facilitator. The objective is to analyze the contributions of the Groupe Entraînement de Analyze de Situations Éducatives to train reflective professionals in nursing. The steps, rules of operation and the role of the participants are explained in order to promote a safe environment for all, enabling group members to develop hypotheses to understand the situation and develop analysis and reflection skills. It is concluded that this methodology offers the opportunity to open a space for reflective thinking, respecting the different roles and times intended for the speech of each participant, building their professional identity.

The theme of emotions and relationships at school in recent years is acquiring a growing space in pedagogical literature. Their centrality for the purposes of successful teaching and learning is ascertained by numerous studies and research of different disciplinary fields. From the point of view of teacher behavior, the emotional dimension is no longer linked to character aspects but to specific skills that all teachers should possess. First of all, it is fundamental to know how to recognize one's own and others' emotions and to be able to manage them within the educational and didactic relationship. Teaching is a profession of high emotional intensity and, therefore, it is essential to train teachers to become aware of the emotional exchanges that take place within the classroom and to be able to direct them towards conditions of well-being for the students and for themselves. The goal of teachers education is to provide teachers with a reflexive habit that can act as a fulcrum for their constant personal and professional development and to establish a subjective space for «thoughtfulness», which represents a space for reflection and creativity.

This article aims is to promote debate for scientific thinking about the role of political ecology in the decoloniality of knowledge and power in the Amazon region. The work is divided into two parts: the first part discusses the expansion of modernity to the South and the construction of modern coloniality; in the second, we bring the experience of the babassu coconut breakers, in view of the construction of a “nature-world”, the result of the colonization and globalization processes. The current moment expresses an intensification of conflicts involving different ways of representing and using the nature of these communities. The methodology uses the concepts of political ecology, pluriverse, well-being and decoloniality as bases for the idea of a nature in Amazonian communities that constitutes a conflict with the “nature-world”, which is based on the logic of the resource as the material substrate of a market economy.

At a recent meeting of the National Committee for Co-operation with UNESCO in the Natural Sciences, Dr J. Needham, F. R. S. , first Director of the Natural Sciences Section, gave a brief report on the work of the Section. The substance of his report is as follows: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization is part of an international plan for the promotion and maintenance of world peace, and in the domain of the Natural Sciences is one of the most effective means of strengthening the ties which bind the peoples of the world together into one human community. To quote the Report on the programme, issued in 1946 by the Preparatory Commission of UNESCO, ‘the material and cultural well-being of the common man everywhere is an essential basis for lasting world peace, and can alone give meaning and content to the promise of the Four Freedoms. But this material and cultural well-being can not be attained without the continued extension of scientific knowledge and its application to human needs throughout the world.’ The progressive and beneficial role of science in society can best be brought home to the public if statesmen ensure that science does play such a role and that all misuse of science is prevented.

Abstract Participating in meaningful activities has been proven beneficial to the well-being of disabled older adults. However, social distancing policies and restrictions on public activities have been implemented since the outbreak of COVID-19 at the beginning of 2020 in Taiwan. These restrictions not only prevent older individuals from performing meaningful activities but also have actual impacts on their daily life. This study aims to elucidate the intervening role of meanings of life activities on the relationship between functional status and COVID-19 disruptions. Data were collected from a sample of 526 community-dwelling older adults with disabilities in Taiwan between April and July, 2020. Utilizing Multiple Regression Analysis, the research findings were as follows. First, participants with better functional status experienced more COVID-19 related disruptions to their daily routine. In the meantime, they also valued their life activities as more meaningful than those with worse functional status. Second, higher levels of meanings in performing life activities also positively related to COVID-19 disruptions. Third, meanings of life activities fully mediated the relationship between functional status and COVID-19 disruptions. That is, disabled older individuals with better functional status may experience more COVID-19 related disruptions because their accessibility to meaningful activities was limited. Since preventive approaches to control the spread are necessary during COVID-19 epidemic, efforts should be made to sustain meaningful life activities participation among disabled older adults. Based on the findings of this study, this would be especially critical to the well-being of more capable older individuals with disabilities during the pandemic.
