Australia’s demographics are going through structural and cultural impediments, and massive changes are starting to occur in the following five years. The baby boomers’ generation is in the process of retiring. The major task which consumes most of the time was to extract knowledge from the baby boomers. Moreover, it involves identifying and evaluating knowledge from critical employees and will leave the establishment sooner. Succession planning mostly involves employees, which are about to depart the organization in the short term, and new skilled employees will engage in the function. Effective succession planning requires affirmative responses regarding the department’s organizational culture, functionality, goals and objectives, and relationship with the stakeholders and vision. To deliver high-quality succession planning, it is indispensable to deliver a robust Successor-Incumbent relationship, mutual reliance, open and sincere communication. Therefore, this paper emphasizes the strategic plan for succession planning and explains how critical it is to have clear, trustable, and authentic communication between the successor and the Incumbent.

Organisations have shifted from traditional beliefs to the incorporation of agile methods for attaining high levels of performance through its established goals and objectives. Emotional intelligence (EI) is envisaged to contribute to the achievement of higher levels of performance. With the current global economic crisis and the pandemic situation, it has become very critical to achieve higher levels of performance with limited resources. Countries confront challenges by way of attaining a higher level of emotional maturity and realisation in order to sail through the current economic storm. The Administrative and Diplomatic Officers (ADOs) are seen to shoulder a heavy responsibility in materialising this shift. This study analyses the impact of EI on organisational performance (OP) in the Malaysian public sector. A survey instrumentation was distributed to 700 ADOs based in Putrajaya, within five selected ministries, obtaining 375 valid responses. The results attained, analysed using the SMART-PLS method, affirm the significant positive effect of EI on OP, suggesting the need for an increase in the EI of civil servants by including EI indicators and measures in the areas of recruitment, learning and development, workforce planning, succession planning, and organisational development. EI should actively be adopted to increase awareness and maturity, which would thus enable civil servants to embrace the current challenging agile environment.

Abstract Introduction: randomized controlled trials are high quality studies. Many problems related to the drafting of these studies have been identified and consequently various national and international journals, in an attempt to improve this writing, have adopted the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials recommendations. Regarding the studies written specifically by physical therapists, until now, the quality of the drafting in Portuguese has been unknown. Aim: To critically analyze the drafting of RCTs in the area of physical therapy, published in Portuguese, in relation to the CONSORT recommendations. Materials and Methods: On 17th Oct, 2012, 548 RCTs in Portuguese were recovered from the MEDLINE and PEDro databases, which were divided among four evaluators who, after reading the abstracts, selected those related to physical therapy. Of these studies, 78 RCTs were related to physical therapy, which were divided among the four evaluators for the analysis of the drafting according to the CONSORT recommendations. The four evaluators who participated in this study previously obtained a median kappa above 70% when their analyses were compared to the analyses of the evaluator considered the gold standard due to having greater experience. Results: The quantity of items of the CONSORT recommendations according to year of publication was very small, corresponding to a mean of 43% of the items in the articles analyzed. Conclusion: The results make very clear the need to improve the quality of the drafting of the RCTs related to physical therapy in Portuguese and to include more rigorous methodological procedures, such as sample size, randomization and blinding. The dissemination and adoption of the CONSORT recommendations by physical therapy researchers would, without doubt, be a big step towards improving this quality.

Abstract Introduction Smartphone applications for health (M-Health) seem to overcome barriers to access Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Programs (CRP), because of their high degree of acceptance and also their potential to influence the frequency of physical exercise in weight loss. Objective To analyze the effectiveness of the combination of M-Health and CRP compared to CRP alone on functional capacity, adherence to CRP, management of cardiovascular risk factors in cardiac patients. Design Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Methods The following databases were used Medline via Ovid, EMBASE, Central, PEDro and SPORTDiscus via EBSCOhost from their inception until July/2020. We included randomized controlled trials investigating the effects of M-Health in combination with CRP compared to CRP alone in adults with heart disease, and the interventions with M-Health consisted of text messages, e-mails, and applications. The primary outcome of this review was functional capacity, measured by VO2peak, or self-reported physical activity (METs.min/week). PEDro scale was used to assess the methodological quality of the studies and the GRADE approach to assess the overall quality of evidence. Pooled estimates were calculated using a random effect model to obtain mean difference (MD) or standardized mean differences (SMD) and their respectives 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results Nineteen RCTs were eligible, the median risk of bias was 7 out of 10 points. The primary endpoint was analyzed by subgroups, time of intervention and kind of type CRP, eigthteen of these studies assessed functional capacity. CRP in combination with a m-health intervention was more effective than CRP alone in improving VO2peak, ml/min/kg, (MD: 0.84, CI: 0.30 to 1.38; I2=0%, high quality evidence, 12 trials, n=1889) at short-term follow-up, but at medium-term follow-up (MD: 0.84, CI: −0.26 to 1.41; I2=0%, high quality evidence, 8 trials, n=927,). Similarly, CRP associated with m-health was superior to CRP alone in increasing self-reported at short-term, METs.min/week, (MD:1.31, CI: −0.24 to 2.37; I2 = not aplicable, very low quality evidence, 1 trial, n=18), and at medium-term follow-up (MD: 0.18, CI: −0.01 to 0.36; I2=56%, moderate quality evidence, 4 trials, n=1107). Conclusion High quality of evidence shows that M-Health improves cardiorespiratory fitness at short-term follow-up. In addition, supervised program showed to be more effective than non-supervised. The current research aims to propose a competency-based succession planning model with respect to adjusting role of organizational culture in Telecommunication Infrastructure Company of Iran (TICIR). This study was conducted as an applied research in terms of objective and it was assumed as a descriptive survey by taking approach toward interpretative structural modeling. The statistical population of this study included two groups of experts and directors (Directors general, chairmen of offices, responsible experts and experts of TICIR Company). Primarily, in order to determine sample size for statistical population, 20 of experts were elected using non-randomized and selective sampling method and 340 members of the second statistical population were chosen by means of classified sampling technique including directors general, deputies of directors general, chairmen of offices, responsible experts and other experts of TICIR Company. The findings about succession planning model indicated that the variable of succession planning reached to a level higher than satisfactory rate therefore all of the related elements were placed higher than satisfactory level. Finally variable of organizational culture, as adjusting variable, was also placed at the level higher than satisfactory rate in this study. Hence, all of these variables reached to the level higher than satisfactory rate.

The parts of the Shelter object structures remained outside the New Safe Confinement (protruding parts) are considered in the article. The analysis of the building structures condition of the turbine hall and the deaerator stack protruding parts on the east and west sides is carried out and the necessity of works on strengthening and/or dismantling of bearing structures is confirmed. Possible variants of reconstruction of the Shelter object protruding parts are stated and the technological sequence of works is provided. The analysis of the possibilities of performing works in the conditions of functioning of the New Safe Confinement — Shelter object system proved that such activity is rather difficult task, which can cause significant physical and financial costs. As there is no guarantee of trouble-free operation of the building structures of the protruding parts during the entire service life of the New Safe Confinement, it is necessary to make every effort to solve this problem in the short term. The results of the analysis allow to choose the most advantageous solution to the goals and objectives for the safest and most cost/effective dismantling and/or strengthening of structures of protruding parts, taking into account a number of different criteria. These criteria may be different in nature, which allowed to build a generalized efficiency indicator for individual criteria with certain weights that determine the importance of each of the criteria for decision making. Based on the results of the analysis, these options can be considered equivalent. The final decision on the choice of the optimal variant for the Shelter object protruding parts reconstruction can be made after detailing the technological decisions at the design stage of protruding parts reconstruction and before the design studies of the radiation condition in the work area. The obtained information can be used as input data during the design of the reconstruction of the deaerator stack and the turbine hall parts of the Shelter object, which protrude beyond the New Safe Confinement.

In the conditions of economic uncertainty, serious requirements are put forward for the personnel management system. Special skills and qualifications of personnel are increasingly prevailing as the main competitive companies’ advantage in the struggle for a leading position in the market. In the short term, highly dynamic employment processes are expected, as many organizations aim to significantly adjust existing labor relations. Personnel consulting reflect the activity to solve the tasks set for the top personnel management in order to increase the profitability of the organization. The object of the personnel audit is the internal labor market, that is, the available human resources are considered, in particular, the workforce, various aspects of the organization’s production activities. Effectiveness evaluation of the methods of vocational guidance and adaptation, identification and diagnosis of problems arising during the adaptation period is also one of the main parameters. Thus, the specific diversity of personnel audit is determined by the goals and objectives. The lack of personnel assessment and development systems in the company entails serious risks in forming and implementation of management decisions, which can also lead to serious costs for the organization. Personnel assessment using transparent and understandable criteria, organization of trainings and training for employees, formation of programs for the development of professional competencies are not only conditions for retaining employees, but also a tool for developing the organization’s HR brand.

In an ongoing bid to provide high quality local government services, Penrith City Council partnered with the University of Western Sydney to derive a mobile strategy for the development of a range of handheld systems for use in the field. Several R&D projects aimed at determining the viability of using mobile technology for the conduct of off-site health, building and development and sewerage inspections and the allocation of parking and waste management infringements were conducted over a two-year period. Some significant issues relating specifically to the implementation of mobile technologies in a large Australian city council were encountered including: release hype vs. the implementation realities of mobile technology, technological options for the introduction of mobility, user acceptance of new technologies, management of client expectations, and local government standards and guidelines and their impact on development directions. The experiences and lessons that were learned from these projects can be of assistance to other local government agencies and similar organisations employing a heterogeneous workforce that is restrained by external legislation and policy.
