A comprehensive study of feed staff of animal origin was carried out to identify the most efficient ways of the use as components of compound feeds. In the samples of feeds (fish meal, fish extrudate, meat and bone meal), parameters of nutritional value and safety were determined. It was found that the most stable content of crude protein and essential critical amino acids was characteristic of fish meal, which is advisable to be used for the purpose of balancing compound feed for young animals in protein and lysine.

Level of mold contamination and mycoflora were determined for 144 mixed feed and feed ingredients, including corn, sunflower cake, soja cake, meat and bone meal, and fish meal. Four samples were found to be free of mold. Among the feed samples examined, the mold count has been found to be low (102 to 103 colonies/g) for fish meal, high (104 to 105 colonies/g) for meat-bone meal and sunflower cake, and extremely high (more than 105 colonies/g) for soja cake, corn and mixed feed. The predominant flora in the feed samples consisted of Penicillium, Aspergillus, Fusarium, Mucor and Eurotium, respectively. The most frequently encountered species was found to be Penicillium aurantiogriseum, followed by Aspergillus flavus.

SUMMARYTwo diets, one based on barley and white-fish meal and the other on oats, wheat and meat and bone meal, with similar concentrations of digestible energy, crude protein, lysine and methionine+cystine were used to investigate the effects of sudden changes in the composition of the diet on the performance of pigs growing from 32 kg live weight, over a period of 77 days.The diets were given separately, alternated weekly with sudden changes from one diet to the other, or as a 1:1 mixture.Changes in diet per se had insignificant effects on performance.

The effect of dietary protein content (25, 60, 95, 130, 165 and 200 g crude protein (N × 6.25)/kg diet) on the apparent and true ileal digestibilities of N and amino acids in meat-and-bone meal given to the growing rat was investigated. Semi-synthetic diets in which meat-and-bone meal was the sole protein source were given to 180 g body-weight rats for 14 d. On the fourteenth day the rats were fed and then killed 4 h after the start of feeding and digesta were sampled from the terminal 200 mm ileum. Endogenous amino acid excretion was determined for eighteen rats given an enzymically hydrolysed casein (EHC)-based diet and with subsequent treatment of the digesta using ultrafiltration. The EHC-fed rats were killed 3 h after the start of feeding and digesta were collected from the terminal 200 mm ileum. True ileal digestibility values determined with reference to Cr as a marker were higher than the corresponding apparent estimates. Apparent digestibility values of N and amino acids increased significantly (P < 0.001) with increasing dietary protein level; however, dietary protein content had no significant (P > 0.05) effect on the true ileal digestibilities of N and amino acids. The mean apparent ileal digestibility of N in meat-and-bone meal ranged from 65.6 to 75.3%. The corresponding range for the true ileal digestibility of N was 76.9 to 78.2%. True ileal digestibility, unlike apparent digestibility, appears to be independent of dietary protein level and may allow feed ingredients to be compared accurately even if they are ingested in different quantities.

Enzymes benefit digestion and absorption of the ingredients and their addition to an animal-origin meal (AOM) can improve its nutritional quality. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of protease on nutrient digestibility, amino acids, and metabolism of AOM energy for broilers. Four hundred and eighty broiler chickens were distributed in a completely randomized design (4 × 2 factorial scheme), eight treatments, six replicates containing 10 birds/replicate. Treatments consisted of poultry viscera meal, swine viscera meal (SVM), bovine meat and bone meal, and basal diet; with and without protease addition. Two tests were performed. In the first test, the total excreta collection method was used with birds at 13 to 20 days of age and 25% of the reference feed was replaced by AOM. In the second test, a protein-free diet was administered to birds at 21 to 24 days of age and AOM replaced 25% of the starch. The inclusion of protease increased the apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen balance of SVM by 15.99% and the apparent metabolizable crude energy by 5.7%, and it also raised the coefficient of true ileal digestibility of the amino acids in the AOMs by 5.67% on average. The inclusion of protease improved the apparent metabolizable crude energy of AOMs, apparent metabolizable dry matter of bovine meat and bone meal, coefficient of true ileal digestibility of essential amino acids, and apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen balance of SVM. Dietary supplementation of protease may be a potential strategy to improve the digestibility of amino acids for broilers, a possibility of using animal-origin meals as a protein source of diets.

This study aimed to evaluate the apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) of dry matter, crude protein, gross energy, and minerals of marine fish meal (MFM), salmon meal (SM), tilapia by-product meal (TBM), meat and bone meal (MBM), poultry by-product meal (PBM), blood meal (BM), and feather meal (FM) by silver catfish Rhamdia voulezi. Groups of 12 fish were fed the experimental diet three times a day until apparent satiation, and the fecal samples were collected from an accumulation device. SM and PBM exhibited the highest digestibility values for dry matter, crude protein, and gross energy, while MBM and FM presented significantly lower ADCs for dry matter. BM and FM exhibited higher ADCs for phosphorus, 65.05 and 63.87%, respectively. The ADCs for calcium were 58.8% for MFM, 56.69% for TBM, and 60.08% for PBM. PBM and FM had the highest iron ADCs, 44.01 and 46.29%, respectively. Magnesium ADCs ranged from 44.87% for MBM to 75.50% for TBM. BM had the highest digestibility for zinc (62.77%), whereas MBM (36.68%) and FM (39.39%) had the lowest. In general, SM and PBM showed higher values as feedstuffs for silver catfish feeds. At the same time, the digestibility was lower for TBM and MBM for macronutrients and minerals such as phosphorus, iron, and zinc.

Fish meal, containing 64 per cent crude protein, was fed at a level of 10 per cent, as a protein supplement, in rations based on grain sorghum. Food conversion and daily gain of pigs fed this diet, from shortly after weaning to bacon weight, was superior to that obtained on diets containing either 14 per cent of a 65 per cent or 16 per cent of a 49 per cent crude protein meat and bone meal. Superior performance was also obtained when this diet was compared with two mixtures of the lower protein meat and bone and fish meal. There was no significant difference in performance when the fish meal diet was compared with a mixture of the higher protein meat and bone and fish meal. In spite of its high cost the imported fish meal was a very economical supplement.

Production of high-quality food of animal origin directly depends on the health of farm animals. Feeding of farm animals balanced in terms of nutrients is the most important condition for improving the quality of livestock production and its productivity. The productivity of animals depends on providing their organisms with all the necessary nutrients and biologically active substances. Along with the nutritional value, chemical safety of feed is also important for animals and humans. Pesticides have a special place among chemical toxicants. The article presents the monitoring of the nutritional value and chemical safety of the main feeds of agricultural producers of the Republic of Tatarstan, based on the results of their physical and chemical studies carried out in 2019 by of "FCTRBS". The feed was tested for content of crude protein, moisture, crude fat, crude fiber, ash, and pesticides in accordance with the test methods included in the scope of accreditation of Test Center. 94.4% of feed for farm animals in the Republic of Tatarstan meet the requirements for nutritional value and chemical safety, which are imposed on them by the current regulatory and technical documentation. Only 5.6% of the studied feeds did not meet the physical and chemical parameters (the content of crude protein, crude fat, moisture, ash). A comprehensive assessment of the results of physical and chemical studies shows that agricultural feed producers in the Republic of Tatarstan comply with the basic requirements of the normative and technical documentation for the nutritional value and chemical safety of feed for farm animals. The latter determines not only the quality of animal husbandry, but also its efficiency and productivity.

This article presents the results of a study of the amino acid composition of green protein concentrates. The technique of recalculation of formulations for the replacement of expensive protein components by the protein concentrates from green plants. The authors drafted recommendations for replacement such feed ingredients like soy, meat and bone and fish meal by cheaper green protein concentrates. According to the protein content, the soybean is proposed to replace by green protein concentrates of canola, alfalfa, fodder beet; the meat and bone meal by green protein concentrates of canola and alfalfa, fish meal by green protein concentrates of rape.

Variation in the apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids in 19 meat and bone meal samples, obtained from commercial rendering plants in New Zealand, was determined using 5-week-old broilers. Assay diets contained meat and bone meal as the only source of protein, and chromic oxide as an indigestible marker for the calculation of amino acid digestibility values. Correlations of chemical composition (crude protein, ash, crude fat, and gross energy) and in vitro assays (protein solubility in 0.2% potassium hydroxide and nitrogen digestibility by 0.2% pepsin hydrolysis) with ileal amino acid digestibility were also examined. Considerable variation was observed in the contents of crude protein (38.5–67.2 g/100 g), ash (13.0– 56.5 g/100 g), crude fat (4.3–15.3 g/ 100�g), and gross energy (9.4–22.3 MJ/kg) of meat and bone meal samples. The amino acid concentrations and ileal digestibility of amino acids also varied substantially. Cystine, the first limiting amino acid in meat and bone meal, had the lowest digestibility estimates. Correlation analyses showed that the ash content was the only chemical parameter that was consistently correlated with amino acid digestibility. Digestibility of amino acids, with the exception of aspartic acid, threonine, serine, tyrosine, histidine, and cystine, was negatively correlated with ash content, with samples with high ash levels having lower digestibility. Both in vitro assay measurements were found to be insensitive indicators of variations in amino acid digestibility.
