The article examines the attitude of the Bessarabian Gagauz to mixed marriages. Their inherent ethnic preferences in this matter are revealed. Through the attitude towards mixed marriages, their culture of adaptation and the degree of ethnic tolerance are analyzed. The reasons for a certain distance between the Gagauz and the Bulgarians in the issue of concluding mixed marriages are considered. Based on the results of ethnosociological studies, the author concludes that the Gagauz people are a community that is quite open for intercultural contacts and interaction, but at the same time capable of resisting assimilation processes. It is emphasized that an integral part of the ethnic consciousness of the Gagauz people is a tolerant attitude towards other peoples and cultures, which is also manifested in a rather large number of mixed marriages. It is noted that this attitude is «registered» in the Gagauz code of traditional moral values and is passed down from generation to generation.

AbstractThe present paper is involved with the Pedagogical faculties’ students’ critique on the current educational system as it has been altered after 1981. The research was carried out utilizing both quantitative and qualitative tools. Students-voters participated in the interviews whereas active voters were difficult to be located to meet the research requirements. The dynamics of the specific political party is based on a popular profile in terms of standpoints related to economic, social and political issues. The research findings depict the students’ strong wish for a change of the curricula and a turn towards History and Religion as well as an elevation of the Greek historic events, as the History books that have been written and taught at schools over the past years contributed to the downgrading of the Greek national and cultural identity. There is also a students’ strong belief that globalization and the immigrants’ presence in Greece have functioned in a negative way against the Greek ideal. Therefore, an overall change of the educational content could open the path towards the reconstruction of the moral values and the Greek national identity.

AbstractNot only does the literature attest to the high levels of trauma among displaced populations, research in the past decade has increasingly revealed the hidden yet pervasive role that shame may play in posttraumatic symptomatology. As defined by Wilson and colleagues, “in the posttraumatic self, shame develops from traumatic experiences that render the victim fearful, powerless, helpless, and unable to act congruently with moral values” (Wilson et al., 2006, p. 127). In the context of forced migration in particular, both trauma and shame are ubiquitous, pervasive, and contagious.

Historically, the surau has become an important means (institution/agency) in terms of community development and enlightenment, particularly in religious learning and cultivation of moral values. In addition, the surau-based education had a significant reputation with regard to the spread of Islam to various regions and the area around an island and beyond, and probably to other countries. As a means of religious education, we can still find surau until now, although its role and function are no longer the same as they were in the past, in which educational activities of Islam in the early days of its growth were carried out under the surau educational system. Thus, since the beginning of the spread of Islam to Indonesia, surau has contributed the shape and pattern of its own in the Islamic educational system

The Past ◽

This novel will bring the reader back to the horror of the Aceh conflict that was swelling and inflamed in the past. Feelings of bitterness and fear of being invited to collide with curiosity to read story after story are arranged neatly. The writer is so adept at composing words that the reader can imagine every imaginative event as if it were real. The story of Amra's love journey, an Aceh girl with a foreign journalist named Evan, is the main dish that will reveal the temptation of the conflict. This novel is truly unique and very interesting to read. There are many moral values that can be obtained so that the reader will not regret reading it.

The future likelihood of a hazardous event is predicted from its frequency per unit of past time or by aggregating the influence of the variables that determine it. It is assumed that accurate scientific measurement provides the best estimate, and that public perceptions, if discrepant, are ‘irrational’. Certainly, perception is a constructive process, dependent on partial information, selected again at the receptor stage and distorted in memory store. However, so-called ‘objective’ assessments generally subsume a limited range of variables, discount interactions and are biased to variables that are readily quantifiable for recording or future modelling. Extrapolation from the past rashly assumes stable continuity. In assessing ‘seriousness’ as distinct from probability, it may be argued that only the public can judge, since social and moral values are the ultimate criteria. Clearly, both objective and perceived assessments must be considered and eventually reconciled. The problems of measurement and a quest for lawfulness in the perception of risk are discussed.
