Effectiveness of Structured Teaching programme on Knowledge regarding Life Style Modifications for the Prevention of Atherosclerosis among Housewives

The study was titled as “effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding life style modifications for the prevention of atherosclerosis among housewives.” The objectives of the study were to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding life style modification for the prevention of atherosclerosis and to find out the association between knowledge regarding life style modifications for the prevention of atherosclerosis among housewives with selected demographic variables. Quasi experimental pretest posttest control design was adopted for this study. The study was conducted in a community area of Pallithottam at Kollam district. The sample consisted of 60 housewives. Non-probability convenient sampling technique was used. Data were collected from the housewives to assess their existing level of knowledge by using structured knowledge questionnaire before giving structured teachingprogramme. Post test was conducted one week after administration of structured teaching programme, to assess their level of knowledge. The collected data were tabulated and analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that, the mean posttest knowledge score of selected sample in experimental group (14.53) was higher than the mean pretest score (8.47). Since the calculated ‘t’ value (14.43) was greater than the table value (2.05) at 0.05 level of significance, there was statistically significant difference between mean pretest and posttest knowledge scores in experimental group. The mean posttest knowledge score of selected sample in experimental group (14.53) was higher than the mean posttest score (8.47) in the control group. The calculated ‘t’ value (14.43) was greater than the table value (2.05) at 0.05 level of significance. This indicated that there was statistically significant difference between mean pretest and posttest knowledge scores regarding life style modifications for the prevention of atherosclerosis in experimental group. The study concluded that structured teaching programme was effective in improving the knowledge regarding life style modifications for the prevention of atherosclerosis among housewives.

A pre-experimental study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding text neck syndrome among young adults in a selected college at Alappuzha District. The objectives of the study were to assess the mean knowledge score regarding text neck syndrome among young adults, to find out the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding text neck syndrome among young adults and to find out the association between pretest knowledge score and selected socio demographic variables. The Conceptual framework was based on Nola J Pender’s Health Promotion model (1982). The study was conducted at Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara. among 60 young adults, who were selected by disproportionate stratified random sampling technique. The pretest level of knowledge was assessed using structured knowledge questionnaire and structured teaching programme was given. Posttest was conducted after 7days.The result showed that the mean posttest knowledge score 20.26 with SD 3.15 was significantly higher than the pretest mean score 8.43 with SD 2.48 with a mean difference of 11.83. Since the calculated ‛t’ value 35.45 which was greater than the table value (2.00) with degree of freedom 59 at p<0.05 level of significance. Hence the study revealed that structured teaching programme on text neck syndrome was effective in improving the knowledge of young adults. The association between pretest and selected socio demographic variables showed that the pretest knowledge scores was influenced by year of study (p<0.05), family monthly income (p<0.05) and source of information (p<0.05).

Introduction Breastfeeding is the normal way of providing young infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Virtually all mothers can breastfeed, provided they have accurate information and the support of their family, the health care system and society at large. Colostrum, the yellowish, sticky breast milk produced at the end of pregnancy, is recommended by WHO as the perfect food for the newborn, and feeding should be initiated within the first hour after birth. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond. Objectives 1- Assess the existence knowledge on breast feeding and its techniques among postnatal mothers. 2- Evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding breast feeding and its techniques among post natal mothers. 3- Association between level of knowledge score with selected demographic variable among post natal mothers. Research Hypothesis H1- A significant difference will be found between pre-test and post-test level of knowledge regarding breast feeding & its techniques among postnatal mothers. • H2-There will be significant association between knowledge score and selected demographic variable among post natal mothers at P<0.05 level of significance. Research Methodology: Quantitative study was conducted using to assess the effectiveness of teaching cum demonstration on knowledge regarding breast feeding & its techniques among Postnatal Mothers where non-probability convenient sampling was used to collect data from 30 Postnatal Mothers at Krishna Medical Centre, Lucknow. Structured questionnaires on knowledge regarding breastfeeding were used to assess the level of knowledge of Primigravida Mothers, analysed by using inferential statistics. The average time i.e. 10-15 minutes was taken by the samples to fill the answers of the questionnaires used to assess the knowledge of postnatal mothers regarding breast feeding and its techniques. Result- The present study revealed that there was proper identification of level of knowledge regarding breast feeding & its techniques among postnatal mothers. Researcher also observed that the level of knowledge of postnatal mothers regarding breast feeding & its techniques enhanced after structured teaching programme was found to be effective in increasing the knowledge of postnatal mothers admitted in Krishna Medical Centre, Lucknow.

Back ground: An experimental study was conducted to assess the effects of instructional teaching programme (ITP) on knowledge and practices of mothers regarding prevention of pneumonia in children, Pooncherry, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, India.Objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of ITP on prevention of pneumonia on level of knowledge and practices among mothers of under five children. Materials and Methods: Non probability purposive technique was adopted for this study. Samples who met inclusion criteria were participated in the study. Self-structured interview schedule for knowledge  and structured rating scale for practices were used to collect the data. Results: The study results shows that in the pre test 15.13 % of the mothers had adequate knowledge, 24.34 % of the mothers were had moderately adequate knowledge and 60.53 % of the mothers had inadequate knowledge and  and in post test 63.17% of mothers were had adequate knowledge, 28.94% of the mothers had moderately adequate knowledge and very few (8.55% ) mothers had inadequate knowledge. Pre test practices score shows that 63.82 % of the mothers had less desirable practice, 22.37% of the mothers had moderate desirable practices and 13.81% were had highly desirable practices whereas in the post test 63.82% of them had highly desirable practice, 23.03% of them had moderate desirable practices and 13.16% of them had less desirable practices. The mean pretest knowledge score was 5.45 ± 1.47 and the mean posttest knowledge score was 8.49 ± 0.71 and the t value was 15.17, it shows that statistically there was an improvement in the post test knowledge score. The mean pretest practice score was 22.38 ± 2.76, the mean posttest practice score was 43.64 ±1.97 and the t value was 13.35, it shows that statistically there was a significant improvement in the post test practice score. The instructional teaching programme on prevention of pneumonia was statistically effective in promoting the knowledge and desirable practices among mothers.

Introduction: Tuberculosis is one of the most prominent mycobacterium diseases known to humankind. Increasing cases world-wide led to the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring a global Emergency in April 1993. Despite the availability of „tools‟ for controlling TB, programs have been unable to sustain high cure rate. As a consequence of this, and the increasing problems of drug resistance, the International community, through the WHO, has developed and launched the Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) strategy. Directly Observed Treatment, Short course chemotherapy is a strategy to ensure cure by providing the most effective medicine and confirming that it is taken. It is the only strategy which has been documented to be effective Worldwide on a program basis. Design: A quantitative approach using pre-experimental pre-test post-test design with one group. Participants: 50 Staff Nurses were selected using Non-Probability purposive sampling technique in Mehsana District. Interventions: Structured teaching was given to the Staff Nurses. Tool: Self Structured Questionnaire was used to assess the level of Knowledge regarding tuberculosis and dots therapy among staff nurses. Results: The research study shows that in pre test (20%) of sample had a poor knowledge (score 1-10) regarding knowledge about tuberculosis and dots therapy, while average knowledge (score 11-20) was observed in 46% of the sample and (34%) of sample having good (20-41) knowledge score. And in the post test (0%) of sample had a poor knowledge (score 1-10) regarding knowledge about tuberculosis and dots therapy, while average knowledge (score 11-20) was observed in (18%) of the sample and (82%) of sample having good (20-41) knowledge score. And the comparison between pre test and post test observation score regarding knowledge of tuberculosis and dots therapy. The mean pre test observation score was 16.4 and the mean post test score was the 23, and the Standard Deviation was 5.64 in pre test and 7.67 in post test score, also the calculated “t”value was 4.20 was greater than the table value at 0.05 level of significance. The structured teaching was effective in increasing the Knowledge regarding tuberculosis and dots therapy among staff nurses. Chi-square test to associate the level of knowledge and selected demographic variable. Conclusion: The findings of the study indicate that structured teaching programme is effective in increase knowledge regarding tuberculosis and dots therapy among staff nurses.

AbstractThe study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge of polycystic ovarian syndrome among adolescent girls. The study design adopted was pre experimental one group pre-test post- test design. The demographic Proforma were collected from the adolescent girls by using structured knowledge questionnaire. Data obtained in these areas were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. A significant difference between pre test and post test knowledge was found (t79= 2.0 p<0.05).The study findings showed that the structured teaching programme was effective in improving knowledge of adolescent girls regarding polycystic ovarian syndrome. There was no significant association between the level of knowledge and demographic variables except the group in which they study (Science, Arts, Commerce)

This research was intended to investigate the effect of a culture-based approach in improving students’ reading comprehension on spoof text. For that purpose, a true experimental study was applied to the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Soreang. The sample of this study was 88 students from that school. These students were divided equally into the control and experimental group. The experimental group was given the Culture-Based Approach (CBA) as the treatment in comprehending the text.  The students’ scores of pre-test and post-test from both groups were statistically analyzed and compared by the T-test. The findings could be summarized that generally, students from the experimental group gained better achievement than from the control group on their post-test scores. The data analysis also showed that there was a significant difference between the mean score of the pre-test (53.45) and the post-test (58.39.). Furthermore, the result of the t-test (5.707) was relatively higher than the t- table (2.018) for a 0.5 percent level of significance. It indicated that the students’ achievement was significantly improved after the treatment of using a Culture-Based Approach. Thus, it is recommended that a Culture-Based Approach should be considered as an alternative choice for English teachers in teaching spoof text.

The study aimed to know the effect of using the Scientific stations strategy in developing Deductive thinking of intermediate school students in the science subject. To achieve the aim of the research, the researcher used experimental design with two equal groups, the research sample consisted of (65) intermediate-grade students in Al Nidhal school for boys represented by (30) students of the experimental group and (35) students for the control group, the researcher equivalence of the two research groups with a set of variables including (Intelligence, parents ’educational level, previous achievement, age calculated by months and pre-test for Deductive thinking), to verify the research aim the researcher put the two hypotheses as following : 1- There is no statistical significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the scores mean of the members of the experimental group and the members of the control group in the post test of Deductive thinking. 2- There is no statistical significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the mean difference between the (pre and post) tests of both experimental and control groups in the Deductive thinking test. To verify the research hypotheses, the researcher prepared a test for Deductive thinking consisting of (20) items the researcher applied the test of Deductive thinking, collected the data, and tabulated it in tables for statistical processing and the results indicated: 1- There is a statistical significant difference between the scores mean of students in both groups in the Deductive thinking test and in favor of the experimental group. 2- There is a statistical significant difference between the mean difference between the two tests (pre - post) and in favor of the experimental group.

Osteoporosis, which means “porous bone”, is a disease in which the bones gradually become weak and brittle. Osteoporosis is often known as the silent thief because bone losses occur without symptoms and progressive loss and thinning of bone tissue happens over many years. The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on knowledge regarding prevention of Osteoporosis among premenopausal women (35-50 years) attending OPDs in a selected hospital, Raipur. Objectives To assess the pretest level of knowledge regarding prevention of osteoporosis among premenopausal women in experimental group and control group. To determine the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on prevention of osteoporosis in experimental group. To find out the association between knowledge regarding prevention of osteoporosis and selected demographics variables of the premenopausal women. Review of literature was prepared relevant to the study. The conceptual framework of the study was based on “Kenny’s open system model. Pilot study was done among patients in general medicine OPD in a selected hospital, Raipur. The main study was conducted in Orthopedics and Obstetrics & Gynecology OPDs in a selected hospital, Raipur. A total of 90 patients included in the study and they were selected using convenient sampling. The instrument used for data collection was structured knowledge questionnaire. Validity and reliability of the tool was done. Data was collected for the period of 4 weeks. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. It was observed in present study that majority (70%) of the total sample in experimental and control group had inadequate level of knowledge regarding prevention of Osteoporosis. And it was observed that the mean post test score of experimental group with standard deviation was 19.98±3.02 which was apparently higher than that of post test score of control group 14.11±4.74. Statistical differences were computed and the independent t value is 7.003 which was found significant at 0.05. Hence, Structured Teaching Programme was effective on knowledge regarding prevention of Osteoporosis. The study findings also shows that the association between knowledge score and educational status (ᵡ2=9.511, P=0.05), religion (ᵡ2=7.053, P=0.05) and previous knowledge (ᵡ2=46.44, P=0.05) were highly significant. Hence there was a significant association between pre-test knowledge and selected demographic variables of premenopausal women such as age, gender, education, income, religion, marital status, dietary pattern, age of menarche, age of marriage and previous knowledge. The objective of the research was to find out whether estafet strategy is effective  to improve students’ writing skill on descriptive text of the eleventh year students’ of SMAN 4 Palopo.  This research usedquasi experimental.The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 4 Palopo. The number of population was 50 students. The sample were class XI PS 1 consisted of 25 students as experimental group and class XI PS 2 consisted of 25 students as control class.The sampling technique in this research was purposive sampling. The instrument of the research was writing test. The writers gave pretest and posttest to the students.  The result showed that the students` mean score of posttest in experimental group was 90.44 and pretest was 65.96. The mean score of posttest was higher than the mean score of pretest (90.44>65.96). While the mean score of posttest in control class was 75.76 and the mean score of pretest was 60.52. The mean score of posttest was higher than the mean score of pretest (75.76>60.52). The result of statistical analysis the experimental group for level of significance 0.05 with degree of freedom (df) = 24; the probability value was smaller than α 0.00<0.5 and the result of statistical analysis the control class in which the probability value was lower than α .0.00>0.05. As a result, there was a significant difference in writing achievement between the students who are taught by using estafet strategy and those who are taught by non-using estafet strategy. Based on the result of this research, the writers concluded that estafet strategy upgrades the students’ writing.

To assess the level of knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.sc Nursing 2nd year students. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on level of knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students. 3. To associate the level of knowledge score regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.sc Nursing 2nd year students with their selected demographic variables. Methodology: A quantitative pre-experimental research design is used in this study as there is a need to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on level of knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students at SGRRU, College of Nursing, Patel Nagar, Dehradun. The conceptual framework used for this study is based on system theory developed by Ludwig Von Bertalanffy. A quantitative pre-experimental research design is used in this study. Sample in this study were selected by using convenience sampling technique. structured teaching programme was given to the B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students at SGRRU, College of Nursing. The data was collected to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students. The data was collected using the self- structured questionnaire and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Major Findings of the Study: 1. Based on gender, 85.7% of the respondents were females. 2. 54.3% of the respondents came from to urban area. 3. Majority (71.4%) of the respondents had not witnessed a patient with LMWH injection 4. Majority (82.9%) of respondent had not ever administered heparin injection 5. Majority of the respondents (71.4%) had undergone any education training programme on effect of cold application. 6. Majority of the respondents (71.4%) had undergone any education training programme on effect of cold application. 7. Majority of the respondents (72.9%) had knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application. 8. The post-test mean level of knowledge score (73.625%) was found higher when compared with pre-test mean level of knowledge score (45.675%). The statistical paired t test indicates that enhancement in the mean level of knowledge scores found to be significant at 0.001 percent level of significance. 9. The association between mean percentage level of knowledge score and demographic variables were computed by using Chi-square test. 10. The finding shows that there was no significant association between any demographic variables. Conclusion: The findings of the study proved that students level of knowledge about complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application was inadequate and the structured teaching programme on complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application was effective in improving the level of knowledge students regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application.
