The present work presents the results of the research of the ichthyofauna of the largest accumulation lakes in the Republic of Moldova (Dubăsari on the Dniester River and CosteștiStânca on the Prut River) under the conditions of climate changes and intensification of anthropogenic pressure. The state of profound change in the ichthyocenosis of the Dubasari reservoir is demonstrated, which is currently dominated by small species (gobius species, bleak, bitterling, blackstriped pipefish), and indicates the urgent need to carry out ameliorating measures of populating the ecosystems with economically valuable species of fish, among which a significant share shall be placed on ichthyophagous species of fish, such as pikeperch, northern pike, catfish, asp. The higher share of oxyphilic and reophilous fish species in the fish catches from the Costești-Stânca accumulation lake reveals a more favourable ecological status of this ecosystem compared to the Dubasari accumulation.

The article discusses the historical geography of the river Prut (967 km). In the ancient period it was known as the Pyretus, Porata, or Prout. The river originates on the eastern slope of Mount Hoverla (2 068 m), in the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine. The Prut flows to the southeast, eventually joining the Danube near Giurgiuleşti, east of Galați. The Prut currently divides three countries: Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. At present, it constitutes the border between Romania and Moldova, with a total length of 695 km. It has a hydrographic basin totaling 27 540 km2 , of which 10 990 km2 are in Romania and 7 980 km2 in Moldova. The article presents a summary description of the geographical setting and hydrographic specificity of the Prut River. The main geo-morphological characteristic features of the Prut basin are presented. The author also offers a historical overview of the main settlements situated on the river, as well as a brief analysis of the recent projects for international cooperation centered on the Prut as an important waterway of the region. Finally, the author emphasizes the role of the Prut as a border river, looking at both the pragmatic and symbolic dimensions of its significance for Romanian history.

The article presents the results on qualitative and quantitative indicators of phytoplankton of the Prut River lower sector within the Republic of Moldova in 2018-2020. In phytoplankton compositions 72 species were identified. Seasonal and long-term patterns of phytoplankton development have been established in Prut River lower sector. The numbers of phytoplankton changed within the limits 1,06 to 20,32 mln. cell/l, with biomass 1,23-21,64 g/m3. The values of saprobic indexes, estimated on the basis of species-indicators (52 species) from phytoplankton composition, which are in proportion of 58% typically β-mezosaprobic, confirm the following: the water quality of lower Prut River sector in the period 2018-2020 was satisfactory for the development of phytoplankton and was attributed mainly to II-III (good-moderately polluted) quality classes.

Abstract. The year 2010 was characterized by devastating flooding in Central and Eastern Europe, including Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. This study focuses on floods that occurred during the summer of 2010 in the Prut River basin, which has a high percentage of hydrotechnical infrastructure. Strong floods occurred in eastern Romania on the Prut River, which borders the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, and the Siret River. Atmospheric instability from 21 June–1 July 2010 caused significant amounts of rain, with rates of 51.2 mm/50 min and 42.0 mm/30 min. In the middle Prut basin, there are numerous ponds that help mitigate floods as well as provide water for animals, irrigation, and so forth. The peak discharge of the Prut River during the summer of 2010 was 2,310 m3/s at the Radauti Prut gauging station. High discharges were also recorded on downstream tributaries, including the Baseu, Jijia, Miletin etc. High discharges downstream occurred because of water from the middle basin and the backwater from the Danube (a historic discharge of 16,300 m3/s). The floods that occurred in the Prut basin in the summer of 2010 could not be controlled completely because the discharges far exceeded foreseen values.

Once widespread in the large European rivers, Palingenia longicauda underwent a drastic range contraction as a result of the intense pollution and hydromorphological interventions of the 19th and 20th centuries. For the last decades it was considered to be restricted only to the Tisa River and its tributaries, and to the Rba&aacute River, but new reports indicated its presence in the Danube River in Hungary, in the Danube Delta in Romania and Ukraine, and in the Prut River in the Republic of Moldova. The objective of this study is to analyze the phylogeographic pattern between the two main eco-regions (Pannon and Pontic) of the species distribution, based on the combined mitochondrial COI (472 bp) and 16S (464 bp) sequences generated for individuals collected in Romania and Ukraine, and from publicly available ones, representing the Tisa catchment populations. The presence of viable populations in the Danube Delta and on the Prut River in Romania is confirmed, and additional presence on the Mureș and Bega rivers from Romania, and on the Styr and Horyn rivers in Northern Ukraine is shown. The phylogeographic results indicate that the presence of the analyzed populations are not the result of recent founding events from the Pannon region, confirming the survival and expansion of cryptic local lineages. The recent recovery of the species may be related to the improvement of water quality as a result of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive and the EU Floods Directive after 2000.

The development of the digital economy is inextricably linked to cybersecurity. The article discusses issues related to the definition of cybersecurity, its elements, and examines data on cyber-attacks. The analysis of the tightness of the relationship between the share of the digital economy in GDP and the GCI index using a correlation analysis is carried out in this article. The issues of cybersecurity in the Republic of Moldova are also discussed and ways to improve it are suggested. Currently, there have been significant changes in the structure of cyber threats. These changes are associated with discrete changes in the motives and tactics of cybercriminals. The reasons for enrichment contributed to the emergence of crypto miners. At the same time, there is a shift towards reducing the use of malware and complex infrastructure and moving to low-profile social engineering attacks. This article analyzes the situation in the

This paper explores the polyvalent and gendered nature of the relationship between the practices of reading and charming and the Mother of God in the dream narratives of Gagauz women in the Republic of Moldova. The most widespread healing text used by this Orthodox Christian minority, The Dream of the Mother of God, is paradigmatic of this relationship being the principle ‘site’ where images of and beliefs about healing and dreaming meet with women’s reading and writing practices. Women’s knowledge of reading and charming constitutes dangerous knowledge and their dream narratives of literacy and healing represent an important way in which gender and identity are performed by this group of women. I argue here that although dreams with the Mother of God and her text represent transgressions of patriarchal religious boundaries, their ability to contribute to the reimagining or renegotiation of gendered social roles for these women is limited.
