The quality of institutions in a country can direct investment towards improving growth. This paper analyzes the individual and combined effect of foreign direct investment and institutions on economic growth in Ghana. The paper used the Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) tech¬nique for secondary data obtained from 1995 to 2019. All data series, except for the quality institution index, were drawn from the World Bank Development Indicators. Institutional Quality Index data was obtained from the Heritage Foundation’s Economic Freedom Index website. The results of the ARDL model indicate that foreign direct investment and a quality institutional index together have a significantly positive effect on a country’s economic growth compared to their individual effects in both the short and long run. The study recommends that government policies should be aimed at attracting foreign direct investment while strengthening institutions and regulations to enhance output growth.

This study examines the impact of the exchange rate, as an important determinant of economic growth in Nigeria between 1980 and 2019. Secondary data was used and sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin 2016. The econometric techniques used in the analysis were: Unit Root Test, Johansen Cointegration Test, and Error Correction Model (ECM). The result revealed that exchange has a positive and statistically significant impact on economic growth at a 5% level of significance. But the result further revealed that economic openness was found to have impacted negatively on economic growth. Based on these findings it was recommended that the government through its monetary authority such as (CBN) should redesign the existing monetary policies to maintain a stable exchange rate. Lastly, since the economic openness hurts economic growth, it is therefore suggested that the government should sustain its current efforts in diversifying the economy in the country and disregard the notion that openness generates economic growth in the country.

This study examines the role of technology and investment in the business sector in driving net exports and economic growth. This study uses secondary data from world banks to process regression using the moving average autoregression method. When the government focuses on directing the export-oriented Indonesian economy by increasing investment in the business sector and investment in the development of supporting technology for an export-oriented economy will result in integration between the business, technology and international trade sectors that will encourage net exports and export-based economic growth with a fluctuating economic growth trend following global economic conditions. However, despite this economic growth is positive.
