Industrial parks have been promoted as cornerstone strategies for economic development in countries around the world, including Viet Nam. The transformation of conventional industrial zones (IZs) into eco-industrial parks (EIPs) presents an effective opportunity to attain inclusive and sustainable industrial development, as well as increasing the economic competitiveness and resilience of industrial parks. This paper presents and discusses the interventions, key results, and lessons learned from the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and UNIDO’s work on EIPs in Viet Nam as part of the Project “Implementation of eco-industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Viet Nam”. The Project was undertaken with the objective of developing policies and guidelines to facilitate the transformation of industrial zones into eco-industrial parks and implementing EIP principles in five existing industrial zones in the provinces of Da Nang (Hoa Khanh IZ), Can Tho (Tra Noc 1 and 2 IZs), and Ninh Binh (Khanh Phu IZ and Gian Khau IZ), which serve as pilots to support replication and upscaling across Viet Nam. The application of the Project’s policy, company, and park-level interventions demonstrated their value in contributing to the development and implementation of EIP practices in the country. Rather than stand-alone solutions, multi-disciplinary EIP concepts are most effective if applied as part of an integrated top-down approach (policy support as entry point for interventions) combined with a bottom-up approach (industrial park as entry point). The issuance of Decree 82/2018/ND-CP on the management of industrial parks and economic zones is a new policy outlining the requirements and process for transforming industrial zones into EIPs. The Decree is thereby an important driver for EIP development. Legal challenges with regards to EIPs still exist, including the lack of available and reliable data and the need for detailed standards and guidelines on reusing by-products, wastes, and wastewater. The final adoption of minimum EIP requirements in Viet Nam for social, economic, and environmental aspects is a key issue for scaling up implementation. The work undertaken as part of the Project will continue through the Global EIP Programme, in which Viet Nam is one of the participating countries.

This research aims to assess the service quality of industrial parks (IP) in the view of FDI (foreign direct investment) firms in Vietnam. Data was collected from 270 FDI firms in Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) in Vietnam. The proposed research model was based on researches on service quality. Cronbach's Alpha Average Variance Extracted (Pvc),rho (ρA), and Composite Reliability (Pc) tested the reliability and validity of the scale. The analysis results showed that four factors were affecting the servicequality of industrial park in Vietnam being tangibleof VSIP, reliability of VSIP, the empathyof FDI investors, and their assurance. The responsivenessof VSIP did not affect the servicequality of the industrial park. Contents of the article focus on two main issues: the analysis framework of the quantitative model and implicating results todevelop the industrial park services. The limitation of the research was only in VSIP in Vietnam.

The objective of this study was to analyze factors affecting uptake of agency banking services among customers in rural Kenya. Specifically, the study sought; to examine the effect of fraud on uptake of agency banking services among customers in Kenya; to determine the extent to which skills of agents affect uptake of agency banking services among customers in Kenya; To establish the effect of location on uptake of agency banking services among customers in Kenya and to find out how confidentiality affect agency banking services uptake among rural customers in Kenya. A multivariate regression model was applied to determine the relative importance of each of the four variables. The findings indicated that bank agent skills, location and confidentiality were found to be statistically significant in explaining uptake of agency banking services. Banks should create awareness to the public that the bank agent’s premises adheres to standard security measures and should also hire security services from security firms to transport cash to and from the agents where necessary. Banks should also train the agency banking agents on how to detect fake money and fraud. The study revealed that agents’ skills affected uptake of agency banking services by rural community in Narok County. The study recommends banks to offer training to agents before they start providing specific services on behalf of the banks to improve their customer handling skills and increase the uptake of the agency banking services.

The paper investigated the magnitude of social parameters’ impacts on effective use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in agricultural marketing by the farmers. In addition, how farmers identify information sources and how they access to those sources in selected areas of Jamalpur district were also examined. Purposive sampling method was used in this investigation and data were collected from eighty farmer’s thorough survey questionnaire.  Descriptive statistics, Likert scale and multivariate regression model were used to analyze the data. Multivariate regression model was specified and estimated to identify the factors affecting use of ICT by farmers. The outcome of this study highlights important factors for the use of ICT. It is evident from the findings that the users of ICT are getting better quality information and are hence making significantly better decisions on all aspects of agricultural marketing. Regression analysis revealed that two factors i.e. cultivated land of farmers and level of education were the important factors of using of ICT by farmers. Modern ICT tool such as mobile phone was the most used device by the farmers due to low price and availability. They collected most of the information regarding the marketing activities of their produce by mobile phone from other progressive farmers, traders and agricultural extension workers. Social imperative findings of this paper might be helpful for the policy maker to emphasis on further extension of mobile phone based agricultural marketing information system in Bangladesh. J. Abstract Background The rankings of physicians’ services constructed on the basis of the feedback from patients became a popular form of the appraisal of their work. The main objective of the study was the assessment of predictors of the patients’ satisfaction with services provided by physicians of selected specialities. Methods The opinions about physicians of three specialties (paediatricians (P), gynaecologists (G) and family medicine physicians (FM)) who accumulated the highest numbers of opinions, were extracted from the rankinglekarzy.pl website. Only 100 physicians of each specialty who were the most frequently scored were included. Apart from the scores on six individual criteria, the data reflecting the number of opinions (NOO), the type of medical practice (TMP), number of specialties (NS) and PhD title (PhD), as well as the location of the practice (LOP) were collected. The total score was calculated as the sum of scores assigned to individual criteria. Results The final data set consisted of 9482 opinions (4234 for P, 2057 for FM, and 3191 for G). The multivariate regression model revealed that odds of obtaining the maximum total score (MTS) depended on S, NOO, LOP, and TMP. G had higher odds of receiving the MTS than P and FM (OR, 95%CI, 0.75, 0.68-0.83, and 0.72, 0.64-0.82, respectively). MTS was less frequently received by physicians practicing in medical centres (0.56, 0.49-0.62) and hospitals (0.55; 0.44-0.70) than in private practices, but not by those practicing in more than one place (3.81, 2.78-4.21). Higher NOO was related to lower odds of receiving MTS (0.992; 0.990-0.995). Conclusions There are significant differences in patients’ assessment of services provided by physicians of three analysed specialties. The type of practice has a considerable impact on the satisfaction of patients. Interestingly, it seems also that the number of specialties and PhD title do not influence patients’ opinions about the quality of the medical doctor’s services. Key messages Internet-based rankings of physicians may be an important source of information about provided medical services. Key factors influencing patients’ opinions include specialty, the type and the location of medical practice, but not scientific a scientific title and number of specialities.
