This paper aimed to investigate individual or team sports participant high school students’ perceived social anxietylevels according to their sports branch, the weekly duration/day of doing sports, the aim for doing sports and gender.Two hundred high school students (Mage=16.29 ± 1.11) participated in the study. The study designed as across-sectional study and the Turkish version of Social Anxiety for Adolescents (SAS-A) used as the data gatheringtool. In the evaluation of data independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA statistical methods used as thehypothesis tests. According to the study findings, there was not any significant difference in the variable socialanxiety according to the sports branch and the weekly duration/day of doing sports. However, significant differenceswere found between individual sports participants’ social anxiety according to aim for doing sports and gender. As aresult, this paper showed that professional individual sports participants had higher perceived social avoidance anddistress for general and new situations. Also, male individual sports participants reported a higher fear of negativeevaluation than females.

The aim of this study is to examine the social anxiety scale for high school students (ESKO) in terms of psychometric properties. The research has been studied on 200 students in total in the academic year of 2017–2018 in Samsun Sema Cengiz Büberci Technical and Vocational High School, Samsun Canik Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Samsun Gazi Anatolian High School. The ESCT consists of three sub-scales: fear of negative evaluation (ODK), social avoidance and unrest in general situations (G-SKHD) and social avoidance and unrest in new situations (Y-SKHD). When the findings were examined, there was no significant difference between adolescents' gender, age group, number of siblings, mother's education status, mother's profession, mother's self or stepmother, father's education status, mother's or father's status and family income. A significant difference was found between the social anxiety level of the adolescents, whether the mother was her own or stepdaughter, and the father's occupation and the rent or self-ownership of the house. The purpose of this study is to analyze the self-talk and optimal emotional state of athletes in team and individual sports. In this research, 86 females and 156 males—a total of 242—athletes participated on a voluntary basis. The self-talk scale and the optimal performance emotion state scale were identified as data collection tools in the scope of the research. For the analysis and evaluation of the data, descriptive statistical methods and Independent Sample t-test were used. The analyses were carried out using the SPSS package, and the significance level was determined as P <0.05. Upon evaluation of the findings in terms of branch and gender variables, no significant difference was observed in the optimal performance emotion states and self-talk levels of the athletes who took part in the study. It can be concluded that individual or team sports do not have an influence on self-talk or optimal performance emotion state of athletes.

The present study is aimed at determining subjective vitality and subjective happiness levels of sport high school students and to examine the levels based on certain variables. Relational screening model was used in this study. The sample of the research consisted of a total of 185 students, 113 (61.1%) male and 72 (38.9%) female, who continued their education at “Trabzon Sports High School” in 2019-2020. “Personal Information Form” designed by the researcher, “Subjective Vitality Scale (SVS)” and “Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS)” were used as data collection tools in the research. It was accepted that the research data showed a normal distribution according to the skewness and kurtosis values. Accordingly, descriptive statistics were used as a statistical method in the analysis of the data, and T-Test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation and regression analyzes were used for independent groups.In line with the research analysis, it was found that the students of sports high schools had above-average levels of vitality and happiness. It has been observed that the subjective vitality and happiness levels are higher among male students and students affiliated with a sports club (licensed/unlicensed). In addition, it was concluded that the subjective happiness and vitality levels are higher among students who do team sports and those who have longer years of practising sports, and no significant difference was determined according to the variable of socio-economic status of the family. As a result, it was found that there was a high (.81) significant positive correlation between subjective happiness and vitality. Another important result is that subjective vitality (66%) has an important role in predicting subjective happiness.

The study was carried out to determine the significant difference of the environmental attitude of Junior High School students when analysed in terms of demographic profile.  Non-experimental descriptive-survey research design was utilized using mean, t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) as the statistical tools in data treatment. The findings revealed a high extent of environmental attitude of students with a high extent of environmental awareness, attitude towards recovery, attitudes towards recycling and environmental consciousness and behaviour indicators. Furthermore, the study revealed no significant difference in the level of environmental attitude when analyzed by age and gender. However, there is significant difference in the year level. Hence, the null hypothesis pertaining to no significant difference of year level was rejected and these findings became the basis of the proposed intervention scheme.

Many countries have incorporated computational thinking (CT) and programming languages into their science and technology courses. Students can improve their CT ability by learning programming languages. Moreover, situated learning enables students to generate knowledge and master problem-solving skills through interaction with situations. This study incorporated Webduino learning and the situated learning strategy into a programming course and analyzed its impact on high school students’ CT ability, learning motivation, and course satisfaction. A quasi-experimental research method was adopted, wherein the experimental group was subjected to the situated learning strategy and the control group was subjected to a traditional teaching method. The study results revealed that integrating Webduino programming with situated learning could effectively improve five categories of CT skills; moreover, the activity models of situated learning enhanced the value and expectation dimensions of learning motivation. In addition, satisfaction with the course content and self-identity slightly improved. However, because teachers were required to elaborate on stories to promote learner engagement with life situations, the time available for programming was limited. Thus, no significant difference was observed in teaching satisfaction.

The possible relationships among creativity, intelligence, and self actualization were examined in 208 high school students to determine whether or not consistent self actualization scores existed for subjects high in the first two variables. Students high in both creativity and intelligence had significantly higher scores in self actualization than those obtained by students high in either creativity or intelligence. No significant difference in self actualization was found between students high in creativity only and those high in intelligence only. The results were interpreted as indicating that educational systems should stress both intellectual and creative abilities to achieve the highest level of psychological well being in students.

This article draws on qualitative data of U.S. high school students considering their place in the adult world; the purpose is to investigate Jeffrey Arnett’s (2000) concept of “emerging adulthood” as a new stage of life course. Drawing on interviews and observational data collected around the time when Arnett’s notion of emerging adulthood started to take hold, I use intersectional interpretive lens in order to highlight how race and gender construct emerging adulthood as high school students move out of adolescence. I consider Arnett’s thesis twofold. First, when emerging adulthood is examined intersectionally, young people reveal that – rather than being distinct periods that can simply be prolonged, delayed, or even reached – life stages are fluid and constantly in flux. Second, since efforts to mitigate against uncertain futures characterizes the Millennial generation, I argue that the process of guarding against uncertainty reorders, questions or reconfigures the characteristics and stages that conventionally serve as markers of life course. I conclude that the identity exploration, indecision, and insecurity associated with emerging adulthood can also be understood as related to how the youth reveal and reshape the life course intersectionally.

Peer assessment training has appeared as potential new tools for enhancing Arab English as foreign language (EFL) high school students on writing performance. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of using peer assessment training on writing performance among Arab EFL high school students. One hundred and twenty students aged fifteen and sixteen years old participated in this study with an equal number of male and female students. The students were from two Arab high schools in Malaysia. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design. Data was collected using Analytical Marking Scale (Alderson, et al., 1995) to assess student’s writing performance in the pretest and posttest. The result of this study shows that there is a significant difference in the writing performances between the experimental and control groups at P < 0.001. The findings suggests that students who have been exposed to peer assessment training write a better draft compared with those students who were only given conventional training in writing an essay, and without the benefit of peer feedback.
