The purpose of the current study was to identify Iranian EFL freshman university students’ listening proficiency levels and the listening strategies they employed to investigate the relationship between these two variables. A total of 92 freshmen were involved in this study. The Oxford Placement Test was employed to identify the learners’ listening proficiency levels and a Listening Strategy Questionnaire was used to identify the strategies they employed in listening. The descriptive analysis of the listening strategy questionnaire revealed that Iranian EFL freshman university students at advanced, intermediate, and lower-intermediate levels employed meta-cognitive strategies more frequently and actively; followed by cognitive and socio-affective listening strategies. The Pearson Correlation analysis also indicated that there was a significant positive correlation between the listening strategies employed by advanced, intermediate, and lower-intermediate freshmen and their listening proficiency levels at p<0.01 and p<0.05 levels respectively.

Research into the role of listening strategies in acquiring knowledge of language has attracted increasing attention over last decades. The current study sought to determine the strategies used by intermediate and advanced learners. It also attempted to investigate the relationship between learners’ overall language proficiency and their choice of strategy. To this end, two language institutes were randomly selected in Yasouj. A Quick Placement Test was validated and administered. Based on the results, 30 intermediate and 30 advanced EFL learners were selected. Two listening tasks were given to each group. Think-aloud technique was used in order to elicit learners’ listening strategies. The protocols were coded by two raters in order to yield more reliable results. The data analyzed through descriptive statistics showed that advanced learners employed more listening comprehension strategies than intermediate listeners did. It was shown that advanced learners employed meta-cognitive strategies more frequently than cognitive and socio-affective strategies. However, intermediate language learners employed cognitive, and then social/affective strategies more frequently. The findings of the present study indicated that there was a relationship between overall listening proficiency of language learners and listening strategies employed by them.

Gardner’s (1983) Multiple Intelligences Theory (MIT) has been found to have profound implications in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) in that it provides a way for teachers to recognize learners’ individual cognitive and affective differences by providing favorable motivational conditions for learning. However, little investigation has focused on the domains of cognition and affect in a single study. Therefore, this study investigates two facets: the relationship of Multiple Intelligences (MIs) with listening among Iranian TEFL university students and the possible relationship between the type of intelligence the students fall into and their attitudes toward learning English. In this study, McKenzie’s (1999) MI Inventory was used to identify 60 participants’ preferred intelligences. The participants comprised an intact group randomly assigned to the experiment. A Likert-type questionnaire was employed to elicit data about participants’ levels of personality traits that accounted for their attitudes to language-learning. Also, the participants’ listening comprehension proficiency was measured using the listening section of a retired TOEFL test. Data analysis using Pearson correlation revealed no significant relationship between the score of listening and any of the MIs. Similarly, the results indicated no significant difference between MIs and attitudes.

This article aims to review and identify the characteristics of Ulul Amri's personality and    leadership among Islamic Education teachers. A total of 109 students from 4 secondary schools in Kota Bharu district were randomly selected as respondents for the study. This study was conducted through a quantitative approach. The data were collected through a questionnaire translated from The Big Five Inventory (BFI) by John (1990) and Ulul Amri's Leadership following the Qur'an. The degree of reliability of the BFI instrument ranges from 0.62 to 0.77 while the Ulul Amri Leadership instrument is between 0.61 and 0.71. Descriptive analysis of frequencies and mins used for distribution analysis. Inference statistics that pearson correlation analysis is used to analyze the relationship between teacher personality and Ulul Amri Leadership. The significant level used is 0.05. The findings show that the most dominant personality dimensions of teachers are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism. The results of the correlation test showed that there was no significant relationship between the personality of the Islamic Education Teacher and the leadership of the Ulul Amri teacher except the personality of the agreeableness. The findings show that Islamic Education teachers have positive personalities such as Openness, Agreeableness, Extraversion and Conscientiousness. Meanwhile, Neuroticism with a negative personality teacher of Islamic Education has recorded the lowest mean. This finding shows that Islamic Education teachers in Kota Bharu have a good and positive perception among students. This is also a reflection of the expectation and dependence of the students on the Islamic Education teacher is very high. As Al-Qabisi's theory emphasizes the four qualities of a quality teacher in educating morals, ie by example, qudwah, unity, demonstration and understanding. Teachers through a qudwah approach or exemplary example can become themselves as followers or model roles to students by means of interaction inside and outside the classroom.

This research aims to investigate the frequencies of single-clause sentences (SS) and multi-clause sentences (MS) used by IELTS test-takers in writing task 2 and the relationship between their use of single-clause sentences and band score in this section. The researcher used the descriptive comparative research design and the quantitative method design with convenient sampling with fifty (50) sample essays mainly sourced from the set of Cambridge English IELTS Academic books. After collecting the data, the researchers analyzed the data using statistical and descriptive analysis. The result shows that the percentages of single-clause and multi-clause sentences in the range between 0 and 6.0 bands are relatively equal. On the other hand, these percentages in the range of 6.5-9.0 have a significant difference. Additionally, the results of Pearson Correlation Analysis show that the frequency of single-clause sentences has an insignificant negative relationship with the IELTS writing task 2 band score. Therefore, IELTS writing task 2 compositions with more single-clause sentences are potentially graded with a lower band score.
