The purpose of the study is to determine the opinions of graduate students from social studies education regarding the qualitative research method. The study was conducted in accordance with the phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research designs. The sample group of the study was composed of 25 postgraduate students including 11 females and 14 males studying in the Department of Social Studies Education in Division of Turkish Language and Social Sciences Education of Educational Sciences Institute, in Firat University in the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample group was determined with criterion sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods. The data of the study were obtained through interview method by using semi-structured interview form. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study and the qualitative data analysis program was employed to assess the data. It was determined as a result of the study that the graduate students expressed the qualitative research method as sensitivity to the natural environment, in-depth examination of a social phenomenon, and revealing perception and experiences. Since the qualitative research experience positively affect the knowledge and skills of the graduate students towards the study, they should be included more in the research environment and process. In addition, during the qualitative research process, graduate students should be encouraged and directed to academic activities.

A semi-structured interview (SSI) is one of the essential tools in conduction qualitative research. This essay draws upon the pros and cons of applying semi-structured interviews (SSI) in the qualitative research method. Moreover, the challenges of SSI during the coronavirus pandemic are critically discussed to provide plausible recommendations.

Turks are one of those migrants living in Europe with constituting majority of the migrants in the country of residence and Denmark is among those countries that opened its doors to Turks since 1960's. In this research, I specifically focus on the diaspora consciousness, relations and belonging of the Turkish migrants in Denmark. In doing that, Copenhagen is chosen as the city for the case study. Focusing on the Turkish diaspora and reflection of the sociological realities in the issue of integration to Denmark is the basis of this research. I use qualitative research method and interviewed with 7 migrants from Turkey in living in Copenhagen while conducting my research applying structured interview method. In this study, I have found out that diaspora identity has a significant role in getting integrated to Denmark. As a result of these, migrant Turkish identity becomes bolder which has a direct affect in the level of integration to Denmark.

This research is designed to explore the importance of tuition centers in the perception of students. It tries to find out the role, supporting methods, environment and good characteristics of tuition centers, their owners and management to support the student to learn effectively and bring good grades in their board examinations. A qualitative research method employed to collect data from the 30 participating students who receive tuition at different centers of Hyderabad district. Semi-structured interview protocol was design; discussed with five experts of field; improved as per suggestions of field experts; piloted on three students; and then implemented and conducted on the recruited sample of students of class Higher Secondary Certificate -II (XII) in order to collect data. The results revealed that the students who receive tuition at different centers bring good grades in their examination and have suitable knowledge about their subjects taught at centers. Their previous grades were found good and attractive such as A-1 and A with more than 80% and 70% marks respectively, due to coaching received at tuition centers that time, reveled from experiences shared by students.

In this study which aims to uncover and examine the metaphorical meanings that teachers have attributed to the concept of teaching during the pandemic period, phenomenological method that is a qualitative research design was used. The study group of the research consists of the teachers working in public primary, secondary and high schools in a city in the Western Black Sea Region during the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The teachers participating in this study were selected on a voluntary basis. In order to collect the data, a semi-structured interview form used in qualitative research method was used as a data collection tool. Content analysis that consisted of such procedures as coding, finding themes, organizing the data according to code and themes was used in the analysis of the data. Based on these perceptions, 278 metaphors were obtained related to the concept of ‘’being a teacher in Turkey during the pandemic period’’. The related metaphors were grouped under 12 categories by the researchers. When they were examined, it emerged that the preferred metaphors usually reflected a negative structure.

The education of individuals with special needs and the difficulties experienced by their families is a vital issue for them to live independently. Therefore, it was aimed to determine the opinions of parents with special needs individuals about the difficulties their experience in this study. The participants of the study are the parents of 13 special needs individuals. The research was designed with qualitative research method and semi-structured interview technique was used to collect data.The findings of the study shows that the support and education which the parents participated received before and after the diagnosis are neither sufficient not efficient; the difficulties they experienced at home and outside; the education at schools and rehabilitation centers are not planned properly; the educational expectations of the parents from the state and the solutions about deficiencies.

This study aims to determine the problems experienced by parents of children with special needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. The phenomenological patterns technique, which is a qualitative research method, was used in the study. Ten parents with children with special needs who were affected by different types of disabilities were included in the study. The data in the research were collected using interview forms consisting of open-ended questions and a semi-structured interview technique. After the data obtained from the interviews were decoded, they were analyzed with the descriptive analysis technique. At the end of the study, the findings of the problems experienced by parents of children with special needs during the epidemic, the problems they experienced with their children, and the problems and expectations related to the education of their children were discussed in detail within the framework of the literature.

The aim of this study was to determine the opinions of students receiving postgraduate education in special education area about special education. 35 students receiving postgraduate education at Near East University participated in this research. 8 of these students were doctorate student, and 27 of them were master student. This research was conducted in 2014-2015 spring semester. Interview questions used in this research were developed by the researchers. To support the enforceability of character education, schools should be conditioned as a major supporter of activities especially in SMP Negeri 9 Banjarbaru.  Character education can also be demonstrated in the behavior and attitudes of teachers in providing. Teachers are expected to be the role models for their students.  This study used a qualitative research method, which gives an idea of character education in teaching social science in SMP Negeri 9 Banjarbaru.  Data collection techniques in the study were interviews, observation, and documentation. Based on the results of the study character education in schools is also strongly associated with the management of the school, how the character education is adequately planned, implemented, and evaluated in the educational activities in schools.  Therefoe, the character education should be combaining by many values, such us: religious, honesty, tolerance, discipline, curiosity, achievement appreciation, environmental care, social care, and responsibility.Keywords: character education and social studies learning.

Timorese culture is patriarchal in that men are more dominant than women. As if women were not considered in traditional rituals so that an understanding was built that valued women lower than men. However, in contrast to the article to be studied, this would like to see the priority of women’s roles in traditional marriages in Belle village, South Central Timor. The role of women wiil be seen from giving awards to their parents called puah mnasi manu mnasi. This paper aims to look at the meaning of the rituals of puah mnasi maun mnasi and the role and strengths that women have in traditional marriage rituals in the village of Belle, South Central Timor. The method used for this research is a qualitative research method using interview techniques with a number of people in the Belle Villa community and literature study to strengthen this writing. Based on the data obtained this paper shows that the adat rituals of puah mnasi manu mnasi provide a value that can be learned, namely respect for women, togetherness between the two families, and brotherhood that is intertwined due to customary marital affrairs.
