The main purpose of this research is to establish a link between Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) and the role of private universities to show how EDP helps the performance of common roles of a university. Here, qualitative research methodology has been used to investigate the contribution of EDP of Southern University Bangladesh (SUB) in facilitating the conventional roles of a university. The EDP faculty members of SUB are selected as sample and a face to face interview is conducted with them individually to rationalize EDP as an effective intervention to facilitate the roles of SUB as a university. The study discovers six universal roles of a private university where the EDP of SUB facilitates the performance of the roles such as innovation, community development and promoting national heritage etc. The study also identifies the factors which impede the effectiveness of EDP and proposes some guidelines for the successful continuation of the program. As every private university has the propensity to play an effective role in the socio-economic development of a country, this research may contribute a lot to the body of knowledge of higher education management and endorse the significance of EDP in facilitating the role of higher education institutions effectively.

Research productivity constitutes a key factor in maintaining the sustainability of higher education management. This study aims to identify the impact of knowledge sharing on research productivity in higher education. This research is a mixed-methods study with a sequential explanatory case study design. Quantitative analysis of questionnaires was initially performed by using linear regression. The participants included 35 lecturers working for a private university in Indonesia. The following stage involved further verifying the questionnaire results by means of quantitative analysis of interview data, documents, and focus group discussion (FGD). Results substantiated that knowledge sharing positively and significantly influenced the university's research productivity. In addition, it was revealed that existing expert groups, knowledge-sharing agenda, collaborative research, facility support, funds, partnership with external institutions and human resources development program contributed to the enhancement of lecturers' ability to generate ideas and engage in research endeavors.

Today, the higher education sector can be considered a market and, within it, private university education is a common marketable service in the literature on higher education management. Research on the analysis of the variables that generate the university image has been the subject of numerous investigations. Although there is no generally accepted definition, most authors approach the measurement of image through multi-factor scales, with variables relating to functional and psychological elements. This research aims to contribute to study of the most determinant variables in measuring a product’s image, assessing especially the effect of the reputation construct. This was done through measuring the image of the “private university” product as perceived by citizens of Andalusia, based on a standardized model with three dimensions—functional and affective aspects and reputation. After adapting and validating the questionnaire, a two-phase procedure is performed with double validation through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The results show an adapted scale valid for measuring the image of a generic product; with presentation and discussion of a series of advantages of incorporating reputation and measuring image through models with three dimensions. This article goes deeper into the possible influence of reputation as a determinant factor in measuring image, an assumption arising from some models for measuring image, something that so far has not been sufficiently contrasted.

Women at Turkish Universities do not have the same level of representation as rectors as they have academics at the higher education. It is vital to have women, as one of the genders which comprises the community, at the higher education management as rectors to ensure the gender equality in Turkey. As well as the traditional roles assigned to women in Turkey, the lack of legal arrangements and challenges based on gender discrimination faced by women might be the cause of the women’s low representation in the higher education management. This study aims to explicate the experience of being a woman rector through qualitative data gathered from four rectors working at state and foundation universities in Turkey. The low representation of women in higher education management has been identified as a universal problem. It is obvious that woman academics in Turkish universities have low representation at the universities’ top management. Following two themes were identified: Perspectives of Women Rectors Regarding Their Roles and Challenges Faced. These themes were revealed through the voices of women rectors in Turkey. Therefore, this study is expected to bring unique insights both for university administrators and policy makers in terms of raising an awareness for the role of women leaders.

Job satisfaction in a work place is a feeling of contentment that a n employee derive from his role and responsibilities in the workplace and is dependent upon a number of factors, pertaining to personal, organizational and environmental factors. Considering the job profile and the demand for quality education among universities, the job satisfaction of academic staff in higher education is also affected. This paper aims to examine the job satisfaction of academic staff in higher education as well as private universities in UAE.This study adopts a quantitative research methodology using survey according to 5-point Likert scale instrument. The survey has been divided into ten internal and external factors to determine job satisfaction of academic staff. The data obtained from the survey has been analysed by using statistical and regression analysis.The study concludes that the academic staff of the private universities in UAE has been significantly satisfied with their jobs. It also found that only few factors have positively influenced job satisfaction, especially, supervisor support, promotion and support from colleagues. On the other hand, the study found that recognition and rewards for work done had a negative impact on job satisfaction of academic staff.This study has important implications for higher education management in the development of job satisfaction of academic staff in the UAE. The authors determined that the selected factors, with few exceptions, behaved accordingly to what was expected.

The implementation of public evaluation and accreditation policies by Colombian higher education institutions, suggests the imminent adoption of a new university model that introduces market logic and modifies their substantive functions, which has a direct effect on the role of academic actors, without evident resistance to internalizing a new form of institutional life. This study applies a historical-organizational qualitative method to investigate such problem at a public higher education institution in Colombia. The results show that the institution reconfigured its history and implemented guidelines established by public policies that underlie a perspective of higher education management based on international proposals where New Public Management (NPM) and governance generate different dynamics that modify the rules of the game by overvaluing the research function and giving new meaning to the work of academics in a logic of scientific production to achieve objectives that improve the reputation and positioning of the institution in national and international rankings.

There is a lack of attention from past studies on the role of antecedents in the private higher education in Malaysia. Thus, this paper aim to examine the roles of reliable information and past experience on student’s perceived service quality and satisfaction among the undergraduate students of private universities in Malaysia. A self-administered questionnaire was adopted and collected 388 valid data from the 9 private universities in Malaysia. The SERVPERF instrument was adopted to evaluate the perceived service quality among the undergraduate students. The PLS-SEM was applied to analyze the students’ responses in determining the role of antecedents in improving student satisfaction by providing quality tertiary education in the private universities. The findings depicted that reliable information is significantly related with student perceived service quality. However, there is no relationships between past experience and student perceived service quality. Student perceived service quality is found significantly related to student satisfaction. This paper provides a valuable contribution in the body of knowledge of the antecedent and consequence of perceived service quality. The findings of the study help the management of the universities to improve the student satisfaction through the focus on the role of antecedents, particularly reliable information. Several implications are offered which would benefits Malaysia private universities and Ministry of Higher Education.

The main purpose of this research is to identify the problems of traditional internship programs conducted at tertiary level educational institutions and propose a practical model of the internship entrepreneurship program. The qualitative research method has been used here to explore the existing problems of traditional  internship programs, and rationalize the necessity of entrepreneurship internship program of Southern University Bangladesh (SUB)as an alternative to the traditional internship program. In this regard, three focused group discussions were conducted with three main stakeholders, namely the faculty guide, the internship supervisors of the host company, and the student interns. The study discovered different weaknesses of traditional internship programs conducted in the university, including the limited scope of internship, noncooperation by the host companies, and the limitation of time. However, all the stakeholders are on the same page regarding the incapacity of traditional internship programs in developing the entrepreneurial spirit and aspiration among the interns. The study proposed the SUB model as an independent way to conduct an entrepreneurship-friendly internship program at tertiary level education, which may help the concerned to overcome the challenges of a traditional internship program. This research may contribute to the body of knowledge of higher education management and may support academia to develop an entrepreneurship development centered curriculum.

The article touches upon in details and presents the governing bodies of the higher education systems in Greece and Italy, emphasizes the similarities and differences in the education process in the universities of the above-mentioned countries. It mentions their management pecularities, as well as reveals the importance and role of higher education in the progressive development of each of these countries. At the same time, this article covers favorable conditions for the productive conduct of the education process in universities and the correct approach to solving various issues regarding higher education in Greece and Italy.
