<br/><b>Introduction:</b> Rational nutrition is one of the most important factors affecting human development, maintaining good health and prevention of civilization diseases. <br/><b>Purpose:</b> To assess the state of knowledge among students from John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska in the impact and effectiveness of vitamin A supplementation on the human body. As well as the assessment of students' knowledge concerning the problem of deficits and diseases caused the overdose of vitamin A. <br/><b>Materials and methods:</b> The study was conducted among 70 students of the John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska in the period March - April 2018. We used the diagnostic survey method based on the original questionnaire. <br/><b>Results:</b> Students have knowledge about dietary supplements; they could indicate the main effect of the preparations. 62.86% of the respondents knew the correct definition of dietary supplements. They had difficulty with the term of vitamin A in the human body and the diseases caused by the lack of it. The problem was a detailed knowledge of the occurrence and impact on the body of vitamin A supplementation. A small percentage (14.29%) students have ever taken supplements. <br/><b>Conclusions:</b> Students have knowledge about dietary supplements

BackgroundBiannual vitamin A supplementation is a well-established survival tool for preschool children 6 months and older in vitamin A deficient populations but this schedule misses the opportunity to intervene on most young infant deaths. Randomised trials of neonatal vitamin A supplementation (NVAS) in the first few days of life to assess its impact on under 6-month mortality in low/middle-income countries have had varying results.MethodsInvestigators of 11 published randomised placebo-controlled NVAS trials (n=163 567 children) reanalysed their data according to an agreed plan and pooled the primary outcomes of mortality from supplementation through 6 and 12 months of age using random effects models and meta-regression. One investigator withdrew but allowed use of the data.FindingsOverall there was no effect of NVAS on infant survival through 6 (risk ratio (RR) 0.97; 95% CI 0.89 to 1.06) or 12 months of age (RR 1.00; 95% CI 0.93 to 1.08) but results varied by study population characteristics.NVAS significantly reduced 6-month mortality among the trials conducted in Southern Asia (RR 0.87; 95% CI 0.77 to 0.98), in contexts with moderate or severe vitamin A deficiency (defined as 10% or higher proportion of women with serum retinol <0.7 µmol/L or 5% or more women with night blindness) (RR 0.87; 95% CI 0.80 to 0.94), early infant mortality was 30 or more per 1000 live births (RR 0.91; 95% CI 0.85 to 0.98), 75% or more of infant mortality occurred in the first 6 months of life (RR 0.92; 95% CI 0.84 to 1.01), or where >32% mothers had no schooling (RR 0.88; 95% CI 0.80 to 0.96). NVAS did not reduce mortality in the first 6 months of life in trials conducted in Africa, in contexts characterised by a low prevalence of vitamin A deficiency, lower rates of infant mortality and where maternal education was more prevalent. There was a suggestion of increased infant mortality in trials conducted in Africa (RR 1.07; 95% CI 1.00 to 1.15).Individual-level characteristics such as sex, birth weight, gestational age and size, age at dosing, parity, time of breast feeding initiation, maternal education and maternal vitamin A supplementation did not modify the impact of NVAS.ConclusionNVAS reduced infant mortality in South Asia, in contexts where the prevalence of maternal vitamin A deficiency is moderate to severe and early infant mortality is high; but it had no beneficial effect on infant survival in Africa, in contexts where the prevalence of maternal vitamin A deficiency is lower, early infant mortality is low.

Traditionally, theories of justice require individuals to transfer material resources to other individuals who are needier or worse off. But three technologies, organ transplantation, genetic engineering, and artificial wombs, have changed our obligations to one another. It appears that justice now requires us to subject our body to sometimes invasive procedures should others need our bodily resources, particular genes, or nutrients which we no longer want to provide through our body itself.

Background: To study the impact of Vitamin A supplementation in anaemia during Pregnancy and thus improving maternal and fetal outcome a Randomized double blind controlled clinical trial was conducted in Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, L.L.R.M. Medical college Meerut involving 250 pregnant women in late pregnancy 18-28 weeks with haemoglobin levels <11 g% (7-11 g%)..Methods: The study subjects were divided into two groups: Group A (n=125): Received daily supplement containing Iron (60 mg elemental iron) + Folate (500 mcg) + Vitamin A 20,000 IU weekly for a minimum of 12 weeks. Group B (n=125): Received daily supplement containing iron (60 mg elemental iron) + Folate (500 mcg) for a minimum of 12 weeks.Results: Maximum patients were uneducated belonging to low socioeconomic status. The mean haemoglobin values in Group A and Group B increased from 9.674±1.05 and 9.53±1.04 to 12.2±0.89 and 10.82±1.06 respectively after supplementation. Similarily Serum Ferritin levels increased from 15.96±2.94 and 15.70±2.83 to 78.40±17.82 and 58.64±11.93. Mean corpuscular volume, packed cell volume and red blood cell counts also increased significantly. Maximum haemoglobin levels were achieved with both vitamin A and iron supplementation. The proportion of women who became non anaemic was 97.17% in Group A vs 68.69% in Group B.Conclusions: Vitamin A supplementation improves anaemia and also dramatically improves iron stores in anaemic pregnant women.

One can survive without food but not without water. A human body is comprised of 70% of water which helps in other activities of the body like digestion and metabolic processes. Water is the most critical issue in todays world and its purity is the second. Currently,Watertreatmentmethodsincludefiltrationandheatathightemperaturetokillthebacteria inside it. As a result, consumer demand for water purifier has been increases. Several companies like KENT, HUL, Tata, Eureka Forbes, LG, Bajaj etc. have entered this segment and have launched various brands of water purifiers. Existing demand has also attracted to local players who have entered in the market and assembling water purifiers in minimum cost such as Aqua fres h, Aqua plus, Aqua grand, Aqua care, Aqua pearl, Aqua pure, Liv pro, etc. They vary in size, purification technology, price, color, patterns, usage etc. This study is conducted in Dehradun city a popular tourist place in Uttarakhand. The study mainly aims to analyze the impact of brand preference of respondents on various local water purifiers available in the market. The study also focuses on the consumer behavior towards water purifiers. This research is based on both Primary Survey, 2020 and secondary data. Study finds that, maximum of the respondents is influenced by design and comfortable size of water purifier.

Vitamins are a complex compound that is needed by the body that serves to aid in the arrangement or metabolic processes in the body. Carrots are a multi-efficacy vegetable for public health. Carrot is a potential foodstuff to alleviate the disease problem of vitamin A because the content of carotene (Pro Vitamin A) in carrots can prevent the disease twilight (Blind chicken) and the problem of malnutrition. Mustard is a horticultural crop that can improve and facilitate digestion. Contains vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. Research aim is to  test the content of vitamin A in mustard and carrots from Bumiaji and Poncokusumo . The method in this research used  a survey method to determine the content of vitamin A in mustard greens and carrots derived from Bumiaji and Poncokusumo villages. The number of repeats used in this study was 12 times. The result of Vitamin A in carrots from Bumiaji is an average of 0.3457% of the highest value of 722.3mg and the carrot from Poncokusumo with the highest value of 672mg. The mustard has percentage value from Bumiaji village is 0.069% i.e 69mg and from Poncokusumo with a percentage value of vitamin A amounted to 66 mg with an average of 51 mg. Both are not diffrent significantly.Kata kunci: vitamin A, carrot, mustard, Bumiaji, PoncokusumoABSTRAKVitamin adalah suatu senyawa kompleks yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh tubuh yang berfungsi untuk membantu pengaturan atau proses metabolisme di dalam tubuh. Wortel merupakan sayuran yang multi khasiat bagi kesehatan masyarakat.Wortel merupakan bahan biologi potensial untuk menjawab masalah penyakit kurang vitamin A yaitu kandungan karoten atau pro vitamin A, dapat mencegah penyakit rabun senja (buta ayam) dan masalah kurang nutrisi. Sawi sebagai tanaman hortikultura dapat memperbaiki dan memperlancar pencernaan.bagi yang mengkonsumsi dan mengandung vitamin A, B dan C. Telah di lakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menguji kandungan vitamin A  pada Sawi dan wortel dari Bumiaji dan Poncokusumo. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metodesurvey untuk mengetahui kandungan vitamin A pada sayuran Sawi dan wortel yang berasal dari desa Bumiaji dan Poncokucumo.Ulangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dua belas kali. Hasil yang didapat Vitamin A pada worteldari Bumiaji adalah rata-rata 0,3457% yaitu nilai tertinggi 722,3mg tiap 100 g dan wortel dari Poncokusumo dengan nilai persentasi tertinggi 0,672%, tertinggi 672 mg. Sedangkan untuk nilai persentase Sawi dari desa Bumiaji adalah 0,069% yaitu 69 mg tertinggi dan dari Poncokusumo dengan nilai 66 mg dengan rata-rata 51 mg. Keduanya tidak berbeda secara signifikan.Kata kunci: vitamin A, wortel, Sawi, Bumiaji, Poncokusumo

Di Indonesia, kekurangan Vitamin A masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang penting seperti terlihat pada balita penderita vitamin A defisiensi subklinis yang tinggi (50%). Hal tersebut akan berpengaruh terhadap berbagai fungsi tubuh yang antara lain meliputi sistem imun, penglihatan, sistem reproduksi dan diferensiasi sel. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kontribusi konsumsi minyak yang diperkaya vitamin A dalam memperbaiki status vitamin A dan hemoglobin balita. Penelitian dengan disain studi intervensi Before-After ini dilaksanakan pada anak sehat berusia 7-10 tahun yang diberi obat cacing sebelum intervensi dilakukan. Pengukuran serum retinol dan hemoglobin dilakukan sebelum dan 3 bulan setelah intervensi . Minyak yang difortifikasi vitamin A telah disediakan di warung/ toko di sekitar tempat tinggal responden. Untuk meningkatkan demand, penelitian ini dilengkapi dengan pendekatan pemasaran sosial yang dilakukan pihak lain. Secara umum tidak terlihat perubahan status gizi, tetapi prevalensi anemia turun dari 21,8% menjadi 11,6%. Sementara, prevalens vitamin A defisiensi ditemukan lebih rendah pada anak yang mengkonsumsi ³12 minggu (26,6%) daripada yang mengkonsumsi < 12 minggu (42%) . Hasil tersebut dapat dijadikan pertimbangan untuk merekomendasikan agar minyak difortifikasi vitamin A.Kata kunci: Defisiensi vitamin A, anak sekolah, minyak fortifikasiAbstractVitamin A deficiency (VAD) remains as one of significant public health problems in Indonesia. Around 50% of under five children are suffering from subclinical VAD. Deficiency of vitamin A will affect several important role in the body, such as immune system, vision, reproductive system and cell differentiation. Therefore, guarding Indonesian children to be free from VAD is crucial for their quality as Human Resources. We assessed the impact of the consumption of vitamin A fortified cooking oil on the improvement of vitamin A and hemoglobin status among school children in urban slum area in Makassar City. The study was an intervention design Before-After. Healthy school children 7-10 years were selected from schools and de-wormed before the intervention. Serum retinol and hemoglobin was measured at baseline and at 3 months after. Fortified oil was made available through distribution at shops and accompanied with social marketing. Eventhough overall there was no change in VAD prevalence, the VAD prevalence is lower among children who consumedfortified oil ³12 weeks (26.6%) compared to those who consumed <12 weeks (42%). Prevalence of anemia decreased from 21.8% to 11.6%. We recommended that fortified oil is made mandatory.Key words: Vitamin A deficiency, school children, fortified oil
