Forage cactus is a perennial crop, which has been widely exploited for feeding ruminants in the semiarid region of different countries around the world. The main objective of this chapter is to describe the use and importance of spineless cactus as forage, desertification mitigation, source of water for animals and a source of income for producers in semiarid regions. The main species explored in Brazil are Opuntia spp. and Nopalea spp., due to characteristics such as resistance to pests, productivity, water-use efficiency and demand for soil fertility. The productivity of the species in a region will depend on its morphological characteristics, plant spacing, planting systems and its capacity to adapt to climatic and soil conditions. In other parts of the world, cactus species are the most cosmopolitan and destructive among invasive plants. However, the use of spineless forage cactus in areas where it can develop normally and may become the basis for ruminants’ feed would increase the support capacity production systems. Thus, specifically for Brazil’s semiarid region these species can make the difference as forage for animal feeding, cultivated as monoculture or intercropped, for soil conservation and desertification mitigation, source of water for animals, preservation of the Caatinga biome and be a potential source of income for producers if cultivated as vegetable for nutritional properties and medicinal derivative of fruits and cladodes for exports.

This chapter outlines the origin and historical development of global agriculture. Agricultural systems around the world are extremely diverse, but all involve the management of land for the production of food and other commodities. Agroecosystems encompass a wide variety of production systems, both within and between different regions, and different classifications are used to order these. Characteristics and classifications of some major types of contemporary agricultural systems are introduced. The difference between agricultural and natural (or alternatively managed) ecosystems and farmed versus unfarmed habitats on agricultural land is explored, and examples of each are provided. Some of the impacts of agriculture on wider ecosystems are introduced.

O Brasil mantém a segunda maior produção de abacaxi do mundo, movimentando bilhões e empregando milhares de pessoas anualmente. Contudo, a abacaxicultura no Nordeste ainda é insipiente, destacando-se principalmente nos estados da Paraíba e Bahia. As características morfológicas da planta apresentam resistência ao clima semiárido, podendo ser produzida nessas áreas sem grandes restrições. Dessa forma, este estudo tem como objetivo mapear a potencialidade, do ponto de vista geoclimático, à produção do abacaxi na microrregião de Araripina, a partir de aspectos físico-naturais e de uso de solo, procurando adequar a cultura do abacaxi à baixa oferta hídrica da região semiárida, de modo a otimizar o uso da água na região. Para tanto uma carta de potencialidade geoclimática foi gerada por meio do cruzamento de informações das cartas de geomorfologia, pedologia, índices pluviométricos anuais e uso e ocupação do solo, também sendo estimada a evapotranspiração da cultura do abacaxi e a necessidade hídrica da cultura na região. Os resultados indicaram que a microrregião de Araripina possui a predominância do grau de potencialidade à abacaxicultura das classes de “muito alta” a “alta”. Sendo a área cultivada na microrregião de aproximadamente 20ha de abacaxi, há uma demanda anual de 343.373m³ num sistema de irrigação por aspersão e de 286.512m³ de água num sistema de microaspersão para suprir as deficiências hídricas dessa cultura. Portanto, a irrigação e o manejo adequado do solo são atributos necessários para o desenvolvimento viável e competitivo da cultura no semiárido.  ABSTRACTBrazil maintains a second world's largest pineapple production, moving billion and employing thousands of people annually. However, the pineapple culture on Northeast is still and incipient, highlighting especially on Paraiba and Bahia states. Morphological characteristics as the plant exhibit resistance at the semi-arid climate and can be produced in these areas no major restricted. Thus, this study aims to map a potentiality, the geoclimatic viewpoint, to pineapple production in the micro region of Araripina, from the physical and natural aspects and land use, looking suit pineapple crop at low water supply semiarid in the region, a mode to optimize the water use in the Region. For both letter geoclimatic potential was generated through information from the letters of crossing geomorphology, soil conditions, rainfall and annual use and land use, also was estimated pineapple crop evapotranspiration and water requirement of the crop in the region. The results indicated that the micro region of Araripina has the predominance of the degree of potential for pineapple culture of class ";very high"; to” high ";. Being cultivated in the micro area of approximately 20ha pineapple, there is an annual demand 343.373m³ a sprinkler irrigation system and 286.512m³ of water in micro sprinkler system to meet the water deficit that culture. Therefore, irrigation and good stewardship of soil properties are required for viable and competitive development of the crop in the semiarid.Keywords: fruit culture, evapotranspiration, irrigation methods, water use efficiency.

Introduction. The earth cutter resource depends on the characteristics of the materials they are made from. In particular, the important parameters that directly affect the tillage tool parts efficiency and durability are the values and ratios of the coefficients of relative wear resistance of the two-layer parts materials, as a rule of the hardened deposited layer and the base material (steel). It is established that the characteristics of the relative wear resistance of the materials for earth cutter parts vary depending on the treated soil properties. The objectives of the study are to consider the influence of soil conditions on the values of the relative wear resistance coefficients of two-layer earth cutter part materials and to carry out a comparative assessment of their resource and use efficiency. Materials and Methods. The authors gave a generalized dependence of the wear proportionality to the existing specific pressures values. The characteristics of soil abrasion were given. The scientific substantiation of the changes in the characteristics of the materials wear resistance at various values of specific pressures was given. Results. The results of the operational resource tests and the studies of two-layer and monometallic earth cutters are presented. The influences of the values of the operating specific pressures on the coefficients of the relative wear resistance of the materials for the tillage machine parts are determined. Discussion and Conclusion. The authors have found out that the coefficients of relative wear resistance of materials are not constant, but vary depending on the current surface specific pressures. The correlation of the specific pressure values with the parameters of the tillage operation, in particular with the furrow slice hardness was established. It has been found that while increasing the cultivated soil hardness, the coefficients of various materials relative wear resistance get closer to each other. The difference varies from 1.80 to1.85 times.

Of human activities, agriculture is perhaps the most disruptive to the functioning of ecosystems around the world. As agriculture's impact on the Earth has been amplified by industrial farming, the agroecological environment is worsening. By developing perennial crops, however, would help deal with the multiple issues involving agroecological environmental conservation and economic benefits in a world of shrinking resources. It can provide multiple ecosystem services essential for sustainable production more effectively than production systems based on annual crops, such as reducing soil erosion, minimizing nutrient leaching, sequestering more C in soils, building better pest tolerance and providing continuous habitat for wildlife. This paper presents advantages of perennial crop system in agroecological benefits, introduces the important role of perennial crop at the development of sustainable agriculture, and prospects the significant utilization of perennial crop on conservation of agroecological environment.

The phenomenon of economic growth is studied by economists and statisticians in various aspects for a long time. Economic theory is devoted to assessing factors of growth in the tradition of R. Solow, R. Barrow, W. Easterly and others. During the last quarter of the century, however, the institutionalists, namely D. North, D. Wallis, B. Weingast as well as D. Acemoglu and J. Robinson, have shown the complexity of the problem of development on the part of socioeconomic and political institutions. As a result, solving the problem of how economic growth affects inequality between countries has proved extremely difficult. The modern world is very diverse in terms of development level, and the article offers a new approach to the formation of the idea of stylized facts using cluster analysis. The existing statistics allows to estimate on a unified basis the level of GDP production by 174 countries of the world for 1992—2016. The article presents a structured picture of the world: the distribution of countries in seven clusters, different in levels of development. During the period under review, there was a strong per capita GDP growth in PPP in the middle of the distribution, poverty in various countries declined markedly. At the same time, in 1992—2016, the difference increased not only between rich and poor groups of countries, but also between clusters.

A human-centred approach to the environment is leading to ecological collapse. One of the ways that speculative realism challenges anthropomorphism is by taking non-human things to be as valid objects of investivation as humans, allowing a more responsible and truthful view of the world to take place. Brian Willems uses a range of science fiction literature that questions anthropomorphism both to develop and challenge this philosophical position. He looks at how nonsense and sense exist together in science fiction, the way in which language is not a guarantee of personhood, the role of vision in relation to identity formation, the difference between metamorphosis and modulation, representations of non-human deaths and the function of plasticity within the Anthropocene. Willems considers the works of Cormac McCarthy, Paolo Bacigalupi, Neil Gaiman, China Miéville, Doris Lessing and Kim Stanley Robinson are considered alongside some of the main figures of speculative materialism including Graham Harman, Quentin Meillassoux and Jane Bennett.

<p class="Abstract">The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomenon known as&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 1rem;">“anglicism”: a loan made to the English language by another language.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Anglicism arose either from the adoption of an English word as a&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">result of a translation defect despite the existence of an equivalent&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">term in the language of the speaker, or from a wrong translation, as a&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">word-by-word translation. Said phenomenon is very common&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">nowadays and most languages of the world including making use of&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">some linguistic concepts such as anglicism, neologism, syntax,&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">morphology etc, this article addresses various aspects related to&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Anglicisms in French through a bibliographic study: the definition of&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Anglicism, the origin of Anglicisms in French and the current situation,&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">the areas most affected by Anglicism, the different categories of&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">Anglicism, the difference between French Anglicism in France and&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">French-speaking Canada, the attitude of French-speaking society&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">towards to the Anglicisms and their efforts to stop this phenomenon.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">The study shows that the areas affected are, among others, trade,&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">travel, parliamentary and judicial institutions, sports, rail, industrial&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">production and most recently film, industrial production, sport, oil industry, information technology,&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">science and technology. Various initiatives have been implemented either by public institutions or by&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">individuals who share concerns about the increasingly felt threat of the omnipresence of Anglicism in&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1rem;">everyday life.</span></p>


Distant hybridization is known to play an important role in expanding the gene pool of any crop. It is believed that the combination of different genomes in one nucleus, as a rule, is accompanied by the phenomenon of “genomic shock”, resulting in a variety of genetic and epigenetic changes. This provides a wealth of material for the selection of genotypes adapted to different environmental conditions. Interspecific hybrids in different combinations were obtained in the genus Brassica, however, until now, interest in distant hybridization in this genus has not died out, since such important crops as rapeseed and mustard demand an improvement of many important agronomic traits. The aim of this work was to study the degree of manifestation of morphological characters of a leaf, flower, and plant as a whole in the hybrid obtained by crossing of brown mustard of the variety Slavyanka and a collection specimen of spring rape. Seeds were sown in the spring of 2019 in a field with 30 cm row width. During the flowering period a number of morphological characters of a flower, leaf, and the whole plant were analyzed. Each parameter was evaluated with 10 plants. The degree of dominance in first-generation hybrid was calculated by the formula of Beil, Atkins (1965). The dominance coefficients were not determined in the case when the difference between the parental samples was insignificant. Differences between parental samples were determined by Student t-test. The level of heterosis was calculated according to the formula of Rasul et al (2002). In a mustard-rapeseed hybrid, the size of the leaves of the lower row was inherited by the type of rapeseed, which had larger leaves than mustard. The height of the hybrid plant was inherited by the type of mustard (hp = 1.32, Ht = 4.89%), and intermediate inheritance was observed for the length of the internodes (hp = -0.48). The size of the flower petals and sepals was inherited by the type of rapeseed, and significant heterosis was observed for the length of the pistil (Ht = 33.57%). The data obtained are of interest for understanding the interaction of genes of different genomes in the genus Brassica.

Beet pulp remaining after the extraction of sugar from beet is a good source of highly digestible fibre and energy used for animal feeding. Beet pulp is mostly used domestically but about 15% of global dried beet pulp production is exported to the world market. Although pulp have only little value as compared to sugar, sales of it abroad help generate additional income for the sugar industry with relatively low overheads. In contrast to sugar where import markets are protected by tariffs and non-tariff barriers while export volumes can be heavily regulated by governments, these restrictions are much less extensive for beet pulp trade. This article reviews recent developments in the world trade in beet pulp. The context of the article is based on the ISO study “World Trade of Molasses and Beet Pulp” MECAS(16)06.
