Background: Nursing students must have the desired level of professional socialization to acquire the necessary roles and values to participate in the health care system. The process of socialization is part of the self-concept. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the level of socialization of nursing students and its relationship with self-esteem. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study. Data were collected from 166 nursing students. Data collection tools were demographic, professional socialization, and self-esteem questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods by SPSS 16. Results: The average scores of professional socialization and self-esteem were 174.87 ± 19.5 and 5.65 ± 5.10, respectively. Professional socialization was moderate in the majority of the participants (54.80%). The dimensions of “valuation and knowledge of the profession” and “management and organizational policies” had the highest and lowest averages, respectively. There was a positive and significant relationship between professional socialization and all its dimensions with self-esteem (P < 0.05). Also, there was a significant relationship between “professional socialization” and “interest in the field” as well as “the adaptation of the field to the ideas after entering the university”. Conclusions: By considering strategies, such as creating a positive attitude towards the nursing profession in students, professors can create a sufficient sense of self-esteem in different clinical settings and, consequently, strengthen professional socialization.

Background:Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) present as pain or discomfort in the musculoskeletal system that individuals experience from work-related activities. Substantial research evidence exists on qualified nurses with WRMSDs, but there is a distinct lack of research regarding nursing students and their work environment in South Africa.Aim: The primary aim of this study was to establish a baseline prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) amongst undergraduate nursing students. The secondary aim was to identify the role of certain occupational and biopsychosocial factors in the development of MSDs.Setting: The University of Johannesburg, Health Sciences Faculty, Doornfontein Campus, Johannesburg, South Africa.Method: A cross-sectional quantitative study conducted through a questionnaire (from 24 June to 29 July 2019) was initiated amongst the undergraduate nursing students at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. All 250 undergraduate nursing students were given the opportunity to participate by completing the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire-Extended (NMQ-E). A total of 125 questionnaires were collected and used in the study. Data analysis consisted of frequencies, descriptives and custom tables. The Chi-square test for association was used to test the associations between variables.Results: The study found an 83% prevalence of MSDs. Musculoskeletal disorders occurred most commonly in the lower back (81.1%), neck (65.9%) and shoulder (63.6%) regions. Factors that showed associations with overall MSDs were female gender (p = 0.002), height (p = 0.009) and studying at home (p = 0.040). Stress and tablet or smartphone use had significant associations with certain body regions.Conclusion: The findings indicate a high prevalence of MSDs in undergraduate nursing students in this sample, substantially higher than in other similar studies in which lower back disorders were most prevalent.

The study describes the relationship between subjective well-being and self-esteem levels of candidate nurses studying at the University of Balikesir and University of Bozok Colleges of Nursing. A total of 338 students enrolled at University of Balikesir, Bandirma College of Nursing and University of Bozok, College of Nursing formed the research sample tested under this study. Data were obtained by employing the “Personal Data Inquiry Form”, “Coopersmith Self- Esteem Inventory” and “Subjective Well-being Scale”. For the statistical evaluation of data, frequency distribution, t test, one-way analysis of variance and correlation coefficient were used. Of the participants 76.9% female and 23.1% male and the average age was 20.45 years. Most described their levels of income as average (80.2%) and family household relations as being at good levels (78.1%). The study revealed the presence of a positive significant relationship between subjective well-being and self-esteem levels of students. Furthermore, a significant relation was observed also between the subjective well-being and selfesteem levels of students by their perceived income levels and family relations. While a significant difference was observed between the subjective well-being and self-esteem scores by gender, no difference was found to exist between subjective well-being scores. At the end of the study, a significant relationship was found to exist between subjective well-being and self-esteem levels of nursing students.   Keywords - Subjective well-being, self-esteem, nursing, university student

Orientation: Employers expect young graduates to have a well-rounded sense of self, to display a range of graduate employability capacities and to adapt to constant changes they are faced with in order to obtain and maintain employment.Research purpose: The goals of this study are (1) to investigate whether a significant relationship exists between graduate employability capacities, self-esteem and career adaptability, (2) to ascertain if a set of graduate employability capacities, when combined with self-esteem, has a significant relationship with a set of career adaptability capacities and (3) to identify the major variables that contribute to this relationship.Motivation for the study: The potential for career adaptability, graduate employability capacities and self-esteem of young adults promotes employability among graduates, thereby addressing and possibly reducing youth unemployment in South Africa.Research approach, design and method: A quantitative, cross-sectional research design approach was utilised in which descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlations and canonical correlation analysis were employed to accomplish the objectives of this study. Respondents (N = 332) were enrolled at further education and training (FET) colleges and were predominantly black (98.5%) and female (62%) students between the ages of 18 and 29.Main findings: The results displayed positive multivariate relationships between the variables and furthermore showed that graduate employability capacities contributed the most in terms of clarifying the respondents’ career adaptability as compared to their self-esteem.Practical and managerial implications: This study proposes that young adults’ career adaptability can be enhanced through the development of their self-esteem and particularly their graduate employability capacities, thus making them more employable.Contributions: Theoretically, this study proves useful because of the significant interactions found between graduate employability capacities, self-esteem and career adaptability. Empirical evidence is provided that confirms the need to enhance graduate employability and self-esteem capacities in order to improve the career adaptability of young adults. This will then assist them in dealing with the instability of the 21st-century world of work. Practically, the findings imply that young adults differ with regard to their career adaptability and that graduate employability capacities and self-esteem influence their career adaptability. Therefore, in focusing on the enhancement of young adults’ graduate employability capacities and self-esteem, an industrial psychologist and career counsellor can enhance young adults’ career adaptability, thus making them employable and adaptable to the changes in the 21st-century world of work.

Nursing training is a blend of both theoretical and practical learning.  Students learn practically in the clinical environment. Despite the progression in nursing education, in some clinical settings, the effective teaching behavior of clinical instructors is absent that affects student learning. The aim of this study is to assess nursing students' perception of a good clinical preceptor. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used for the study. Data were collected from all 4th year nursing students (n=130) in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Medical Technical Sciences, Alzaiem Alazhari University (AAU). The result shows that 68 out of 130 (52.3%) nursing students considered teaching ability as very important followed by competencies 57 (43.8%).

Abstract Objective: this paper explores the experiences of registered nurses working with Spanish nursing students within the hospital. Methods: a qualitative phenomenological approach was followed. Purposeful sampling was employed. Twenty-one registered nurses, from a public hospital located in Spain, were included in the study. Data were collected by means of unstructured and semi-structured interviews and were analysed using Giorgi's proposal. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research were followed. Results: three main themes described the experience of registered nurses: "The nurse's relationship with nursing students"; most nurses emphasized the importance of the first contact with students and they considered students' attitude to be key. "Defining the role of the student in clinical practice"; it is necessary to unify the nurse's role and interventions to avoid misleading students and establish priorities in clinical practice. "Building bridges between clinical settings and the University"; the need to establish a common ground and connection between the university and hospital clinical settings was emphasized. Nurses felt that the training program should also be designed by the clinical settings themselves. Conclusions: understanding the meaning of nursing students with registered nurses might gain a deeper insight into their expectations.

The anxiety of speaking in front of the class is one of the greatest fears experienced by every human being. Speaking anxiety experienced by someone when making a presentation in front of the class due to lack of self-confidence. This study aims to determine the relationship of confidence with anxiety when making presentations in class at nursing students at the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang. This research method uses quantitative research with cross sectional design. The population in this study amounted to 78 nursing students. Samples taken in this study used Non Probability Sampling with Purposive Sampling techniques in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the study. Data were analyzed with Chi Square test. The results of this study there is a relationship of confidence with anxiety when making presentations in class of nursing students in 2nd semester at the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang with P Value (0.039) <Alpha (0.05). This research is expected to increase students' confidence when making presentations in class by extending exercises such as practicing speaking in front of the class.

ABSTRAK Latar   Belakang : Peningkatan SDM keperawatan sejak berada di Institusi pendidikan perlu mengembangkan kemampuan soft skill seperti assertive yang berpengaruh terhadap konsep diri menjadi perawat profesional. Adapun salah satu komponen konsep diri adalah self esteem perawat yang dapat digambarkan sebagai informasi dan keyakinan bahwa perawat memiliki tentang tugas, nilai, dan perilaku untuk pengembangan nilai-nilai profesional. Tujuan:  Penelitian ini bertujuan mengatahui perilaku assertive dan Self Esteem pada mahasiswa keperawatan  di STIKes Pamenang Pare Kediri pada tahun 2020. Methode: Penelitian  ini  adalah analitik digunakan  pendekatan  cross  sectional dengan spearman-rho. Populasi adalah mahasiswa keperawatan 119 dan sample 40 dengan teknik random sampling. Adapun Instrument penelitian ini kuesioner baku adalah Rathus Assertiveness Schedule (RAS) dan Rosenberg Self Esteem (RSE). Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat  hubungan signifikan yang cukup kuat dengan nilai korelasi positive antara assertive dengan self-esteem pada mahasiswa di STIKes Pamenang Pare, di karenakan mahasiswa keperawatan yang berperilaku asertif tinggi cenderung mempunyai harga diri tinggi, sehingga sangat berkaitan erat dengan kelancaran selama menjalani masa studi di pendidikan keperawatan yang menghasilkan lulusan perawat yang kompeten dan profesional. Kesimpulan: Self esteem merupakan sejauh mana individu menilai dirinya yang memiliki kemampuan, keberartian, berharga, dan kompetensi yang dapat mempengaruhi perawat bertindak profesiona sangat berkaitan dengan perilaku asertive. Sehingga semenjak di pendidikan perlu di siapkan pengelolaan assertiveness yang efektif untuk peningkatan low self esteem pada mahasiswa keperawatan. Aims:  This aims of  research identified assertive behavior to self esteem in nursing students in Department of nursing Pamenang Health Institute Pare Kediri East Jawa in 2020. Methods: This study used analytic cross sectional approach with spearman-rho. The population nursing students were 119 and samples were  40 with random sampling techniques. This research the instruments were Rathus Assertiveness Schedule (RAS) and Rosenberg Self Esteem (RSE). Results: The results of this research was a significant and positive corelation between assertive and self-esteem in nursing students in Department of nursing Pamenang Health Institute Pare Kediri, because nursing students with high assertive category behavior tend to have high self-esteem category, so its were closely related to fluency while undergoing a period to study in nursing education that produces competent and professional nurse graduates. Conclusion: Self-esteem was the extent to which individuals assess themselves who had abilities, meaningfulness, worth, and competence that can influence nurses to act professionally were closely related to asertive behavior. Background: Needlestick and sharp injuries are a serious hazard in any health care setting for health care workers and students during clinical practice. Thus, the efforts to prevent the needlestick and sharps injuries are needed and considered a part of the routine practice.Objective: This study aimed to investigate the frequency of nursing students in doing the correct practice in prevention needlestick and sharps injuries.Methods: This cross- sectional study was conducted between 2013 and 2014 in nursing students of Tien Giang Medical College who participated in clinical practice. There were 360 students participated in the study using simple random sampling. Data were collected using the practical assessment checklist and demographic characteristics questionnaire. Data were processed using STATA 12.0, and analyzed using Chi-square and Fisher test.Results: The students who did general practice correctly accounted for 52.50%, and those who did practice incorrectly was 47.5%. The students who used gauze or wool wrap in inhaler were 59.7%, wearing gloves in practice (39.2%), do not disassemble needles from syringes after injection 50%, and removing needles into barrel after injection (65.6%). There was statistically significant relationship between time of participation in clinical practice and correct practice with p-value 0.04 (<0.05)Conclusion: The correct practice of nursing students related to the prevention of needlestick and sharps injuries remains low. There was a significant relationship between time of participation in clinical practice and correct nursing practice. It is suggested that students must be taught about the risk of infection at the beginning of clinical practice, and constantly reminded throughout the learning process, especially for injection safety awareness, knowledge and techniques about the risk of transmission of HBV, HCV and HIV by sharp objects in the healthcare facility.

Background: Identifying and analyzing the occurrence and sort of student clinical errors which will allow for early detection of problems and offer chance for system evaluation and improvement. This study intended to explain the types of errors along with near-miss errors encountered by nursing students in clinical settings. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at five recognized governmental universities in Khartoum State and included 470 nursing students in their fourth year (2017–2018)who met the selection criteria of the study. A full-converge sampling method was used and data were first collected by the researcher using published self-administered survey and then analyzed. Results: Initially, the study included 519 nursing students but only 470 of them responded(at a rate of 90.5%).The responses showed that while one-third of them, that is, 162(34.5%) students, had never encountered an error, 99(21.1%), 79 (16.8%), 71 (15.1%), 46(9.8%), and 13(2.8%) of them encountered errors with respect to needle stick, medical administration, omission of treatment, and wrong treatment, respectively. Regarding the near-miss errors encountered by the respondents, almost half, that is, 202(43%)of them had never  encountered a near-miss errors, while 112(23.8%), 106(22.6%), 18(3.8%),17(3.6%), and 15(3.2%) of them encountered near-miss errors with respect to medication administration, omission of treatment, wrong  patient, providing wrong treatment and others   such as improper bedrail used, did not follow sterile precautions respectively. Conclusion: This study concluded that errors and near-miss errors exist and that awareness on clinical errors and near-misses need to be raised and strategies be developed for error management.
