ABSTRAK Latar   Belakang : Peningkatan SDM keperawatan sejak berada di Institusi pendidikan perlu mengembangkan kemampuan soft skill seperti assertive yang berpengaruh terhadap konsep diri menjadi perawat profesional. Adapun salah satu komponen konsep diri adalah self esteem perawat yang dapat digambarkan sebagai informasi dan keyakinan bahwa perawat memiliki tentang tugas, nilai, dan perilaku untuk pengembangan nilai-nilai profesional. Tujuan:  Penelitian ini bertujuan mengatahui perilaku assertive dan Self Esteem pada mahasiswa keperawatan  di STIKes Pamenang Pare Kediri pada tahun 2020. Methode: Penelitian  ini  adalah analitik digunakan  pendekatan  cross  sectional dengan spearman-rho. Populasi adalah mahasiswa keperawatan 119 dan sample 40 dengan teknik random sampling. Adapun Instrument penelitian ini kuesioner baku adalah Rathus Assertiveness Schedule (RAS) dan Rosenberg Self Esteem (RSE). Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat  hubungan signifikan yang cukup kuat dengan nilai korelasi positive antara assertive dengan self-esteem pada mahasiswa di STIKes Pamenang Pare, di karenakan mahasiswa keperawatan yang berperilaku asertif tinggi cenderung mempunyai harga diri tinggi, sehingga sangat berkaitan erat dengan kelancaran selama menjalani masa studi di pendidikan keperawatan yang menghasilkan lulusan perawat yang kompeten dan profesional. Kesimpulan: Self esteem merupakan sejauh mana individu menilai dirinya yang memiliki kemampuan, keberartian, berharga, dan kompetensi yang dapat mempengaruhi perawat bertindak profesiona sangat berkaitan dengan perilaku asertive. Sehingga semenjak di pendidikan perlu di siapkan pengelolaan assertiveness yang efektif untuk peningkatan low self esteem pada mahasiswa keperawatan. One component of the self-concept is nurses' self-esteem which can be described as information and beliefs that nurses have about duties, values, and behaviors for the development of professional values. Aims:  This aims of  research identified assertive behavior to self esteem in nursing students in Department of nursing Pamenang Health Institute Pare Kediri East Jawa in 2020. Methods: This study used analytic cross sectional approach with spearman-rho. The population nursing students were 119 and samples were  40 with random sampling techniques. This research the instruments were Rathus Assertiveness Schedule (RAS) and Rosenberg Self Esteem (RSE). Results: The results of this research was a significant and positive corelation between assertive and self-esteem in nursing students in Department of nursing Pamenang Health Institute Pare Kediri, because nursing students with high assertive category behavior tend to have high self-esteem category, so its were closely related to fluency while undergoing a period to study in nursing education that produces competent and professional nurse graduates. Conclusion: Self-esteem was the extent to which individuals assess themselves who had abilities, meaningfulness, worth, and competence that can influence nurses to act professionally were closely related to asertive behavior. So since in education it was necessary to prepare effective assertiveness management to increase low self esteem in nursing students. Keywords: students, nurses, assertiveness, self esteem

Background Stress and self-esteem are common issues that everyone has to cope with at some time in their lives and they could also affect other things going on in a persons’ life. Academic stress is psychological condition often experienced by college students as, to some extent, being multidimensional variables. Among others are self-esteem and psychological well-being which are considered to have influences in explaining why college students experience stress.Objective The objective of this study was to assess the self-esteem level and academic stress among the nursing students.Method This is a cross-sectional study carried out in 2012. Total respondents were 190 nursing students selected randomly from Kathmandu University. Academic stress was assed using 30-item Scale for Assessing Academic Stress (SAAS) and Self esteem was assessed using 10 item Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale. Information was collected through the self-administered questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS version 16 software. Simple statistics measurement, percentage, means, correlation was used for the data analysis.Result This study shows mean age of the respondent’s was 20.44±2.67 years. Majority (88%) of students getting financial support of less than NRs 6000 per month and 64% have low perceived family support. This study found mean score of self esteem and academic stress was 11.9 and 18.4 respectively. Further nearly 78% students have low self esteem and 74% have high academic stress. Significant variable for high academic stress and low self esteem were lower the age, lower the education and low perceived family support. Lower financial support has also high academic stress.Conclusion Nursing students have low self esteem and high academic stress. Intervention to lower the academic stress and increase the self esteem should be carried out so that the learning of students will be efficient.

Background: Professional self-concept (PSC) is an important issue concerning the nursing profession and is reflected as the key concept in nursing professionalism. Even though previous studies investigated this nursing concept and its related factors among nursing students, meanwhile, their results showed there is no consensus. Objectives: To assess professional self-concepts among senior nursing students and examine its relationship with gender and, Grade Point Average (GPA). Design and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 157 nursing students selected by a convenience sampling among senior nursing students in the seventh semester in January 2020, at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS), Iran. The data were collected using Cowin’s 36-item questionnaire of NPSC which measures nursing self-concept in six dimensions. Results: The age of undergraduate nursing students vary from 22 to 24 years old (22.58 ± 98). Two-thirds of the students were female (66%) and married (71%). The nursing students reported a total mean score of PSC was (161.1 ± 3.27). The highest mean score of the PSC dimensions belonged to communication (27.7 ± 1.17) and the lowest mean score was observed for self-esteem (25.52 ± 1.06).There was no significant difference between gender and total professional self-concept and its dimensions and also no relationship with GPA except for the staff relations subscale, (r= -.198, p<0.05) and leadership subscale (r= -.210, p<0.05) which was a negative and significantly correlated but the correlation coefficients were weak (<0.3). Conclusion: Given a moderate level of total professional self-concept and the lowest dimensions in self-esteem among nursing students, it is recommended that nursing students’s professional self-concept and its dimensions specifically in self-esteem, which can boost their nursing professionalism, be given more consideration.

Elméleti háttér: A Campbell és munkacsoportja (1996) által kidolgozott Énkép Egyértelműség Skála (Self-Concept Clarity Scale; SCCS) az énkép egyik strukturális jellemzőjének, önfogalmunk világosan és határozottan defi niált jellegének mérésére alkalmas eszköz.Cél: A tanulmányban bemutatjuk a kérdőív magyar változatát, és értékeljük annak pszichometriai jellemzőit.Módszer: Önbeszámolón alapuló, kérdőíves, keresztmetszeti vizsgálatban 1205 fő (245 férfi , 960 nő; átlagéletkor 27,05 év, SD = 9,8 év) vett részt. Az SCCS mellett a Rosenberg Önbecsülés Skálát (RSES-H), a Szorongásérzékenység Indexet (ASI), a Bizonytalansággal Szembeni Intolerancia (IUS) és a Szkizotípia Személyiség Kérdőívet (SPQ-BH) vettük fel.Eredmények: A feltáró faktoranalízis egy faktort jelez, amely a variancia 50,8%-át magyarázza. Ezen egydimenziós modell illeszkedése elfogadhatónak bizonyult (CFI = 0,939; TLI = 0,925; RMSEA = 0,079; CI90 = 0,072–0,085). A skála belső konzisztenciája jó (Cronbach-alfa: 0,88). A validitásra vonatkozó eredmények igazolták a nemzetközi adatokat: az önértékelés és az énkép egyértelműség egymással közepesen erősen, pozitívan kapcsolódó, ugyanakkor egymást nem helyettesíthető konstruktumok. Az énkép egyértelműsége közepesen erős mértékben, negatív módon asszociálódik a szorongáshoz kötődő szomatikus és kognitív tünetekkel (ASI), valamint a bizonytalan, kétértelmű helyzetekre/eseményekre vonatkozó negatív reagálási módokkal (IUS). A szorongáson alapuló személyiségvonások mellett igazoltuk az SCCS szkizotípiás érintettség mértékével (SPQ) való negatív kapcsolatát is. Következtetések: Az SCCS magyar verziója az énkép egyértelműségének, világosan artikulált jellegének megbízható és érvényes mérőmódszere, amely általános, pszichés sebezhetőséget, sérülékenységet jelző mérőeszközként támpontul szolgálhat pszichopatológiai tárgyú kutatások mellett a terápiás hatékonyság megítélésében.Theoretical background: The Self-Concept Clarity Scale (SCCS) developed by Campbell et al. (1996) is suitable for measuring one structural feature of the self-concept, its clearly and fi rmly defi ned nature. Purpose: In this study we present the Hungarian version of the Self-Concept Clarity Scale (SCCS-H) and evaluate its psychometric characteristics. Method: 1205 persons (245 men, 960 women; average age 27.05 years, SD = 9.8 years) participated in a cross-sectional, self-reporting questionnaire-based research. Besides SCCS, the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES), the Anxiety Sensitivity Index (ASI), the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS) and the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire (SPQ-BH) were also administered. Results: The exploratory factor analysis revealed one factor, which explained 50.8% of the total variance. The fi t of our one-dimensional model was acceptable (CFI= 0.939; TLI=0.925; RMSEA=0.079; CI90=0.072-0.085). The reliability analysis indicated good internal consistency for the instrument (α=0.88). Construct-validity results are consistent with the literature: self-concept clarity moderately positively correlated with self-esteem, however they are not replaceable constructs. Self-concept clarity is moderately negatively associated with anxiety-based somatic and cognitive symptoms (ASI) and with negative responses to uncertain, ambiguous events/situations (IUS). In addition to anxiety-based personality traits we also verifi ed the negative correlation of SCCS with the degree of schizotypic involvement (SPQ). Conclusion: The Hungarian version of Self-Concept Clarity Scale can be considered a reliable and valid measurement tool for the clear and confi dent nature of self-concept. Being an indicator of general, psychological vulnerability, SCCS may serve both as a reference point for psychopathological research and as a screening tool for mental patients, furthermore for assessing psychotherapeutic effi cacy too.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic led to unprecedented effect over the nursing education. First time exposure of the nursing students with the digital learning has raised a question regarding their self-efficacy in navigating the online courses effectively. This study aimed to assess the self- efficacy of online learning among nursing students during Covid-19 pandemic.Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional web-based survey was conducted between May to June 2021 to assess the self-efficacy of online learning among nursing students in India. Data collection was done through Google forms that was sent to all the potential respondents through email, messenger and whatsapp. Online learning self-efficacy scale (OLSES) was used for assessing the efficacy of online learning.Results: Online survey was completed by 332 nursing students from various nursing colleges of Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi, India. Majority (81.6%) of the participants were female. Nearly half (50.9%) of them were satisfied with the online classes. Maximum (77.4%) had poor self- efficacy scores in learning domain. Only 77 (23.2%) of students had overall good online learning self-efficacy.Conclusions: The study revealed that majority of the nursing students had poor overall as well as domain wise online learning self-efficacy scores, which highlights the need for urgent identification of possible predictors. Appropriate skill-based trainings should be designed and provided to the students before exposing them to the online learning. This will aid them in gaining confidence and mastery in the skill of navigating the online courses.

28 men and 32 women were given Vingiano's Hemisphericity Questionnaire and the Coopersmith Self-esteem Inventory. People who reported the greatest numbers of right hemispheric indicators displayed the lowest self-esteem; the correlations were moderately strong ( r>.50) for both men and women. These results support the hypothesis that the sense of self is primarily a linguistic, left-hemispheric phenomenon and that a developmental history of frequent intrusion from right-hemispheric processes can infuse the self-concept with negative affect.

24 prison inmates who participated in a psychotherapy program were compared on a self-concept inventory with 19 inmates who did not participate. Self-esteem was defined in terms of the discrepancy between actual-self and ideal-self measures. The greater the discrepancy, the lower the self-esteem. A significant number of Ss in the therapeutic program showed reduction in the discrepancy score after 1 yr. in the program, while the non-therapy Ss showed a slight, but nonsignificant, increase.

AbstractObjectiveCritical nutrition literacy (CNL), as an increasingly important area in public health nutrition, can be defined as the ability to critically analyse nutrition information, increase awareness and participate in action to address barriers to healthy eating behaviours. Far too little attention has been paid to establishing valid instruments for measuring CNL. The aim of the present study was to assess the appropriateness of utilizing the latent scales of a newly developed instrument assessing nursing students’ ‘engagement in dietary habits’ (the ‘engagement’ scale) and their level of ‘taking a critical stance towards nutrition claims and their sources’ (the ‘claims’ scale).DesignData were gathered by distributing a nineteen-item paper-and-pencil self-report questionnaire to university colleges offering nursing education. The study had a cross-sectional design using Rasch analysis. Data management and analysis were performed using the software packages RUMM2030 and SPSS version 20.SettingSchool personnel handed out the questionnaires.SubjectsFour hundred and seventy-three students at ten university colleges across Norway responded (52 % response rate).ResultsDisordered thresholds were rescored, an under-discriminating item was discarded and one item showing uniform differential item functioning was split. The assumption of item locations being differentiated by stages was strengthened. The analyses demonstrated possible dimension violations of local independence in the ‘claims’ scale data and the ‘engagement’ scale could have been better targeted.ConclusionsThe study demonstrates the usefulness of Rasch analysis in assessing the psychometric properties of scales developed to measure CNL. Qualitative research designs could further improve our understanding of CNL scales.

Management is a process of planning, decision making, organizing, leading, motivating and controlling, and an effective utilization of the resources to reach the organizational goals efficiently and effectively. Management has a crucial role in quality of work and production in any institutions. Although a rapid increase of Nursing Education Institutions in Nepal since last decade which had been trained thousands of nursing cadres, the management aspects of these institutions are not studied adequately. Thus current study intended to explore the current status of Nursing Education Institution Management as experienced and perceived by the bachelors nursing students. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among the nursing institutions in Kathmandu valley. Of the total 28 in the valley, 14 were selected purposively. From the selected institutions, all 377 eligible students currently in final year of study were selected. Among them, 208were from BSN and 169 were from B Sc program.  The data was collected through the self administered structured questioners after taking informed consent. Data entry and analysis was done in SPSS version 16 software. The findings of the study show that 70% students were satisfied in institutional management (mean59.62, SD ± 3.66). In academic management (78%), (mean139.82, SD ± 6.22), followed by human resources 67%, (mean43.54, SD ± 2.79) and were in physical resources management 75% students were satisfied (mean45.02, SD ± 3.08). Analysis of variations between group (administrators, faculties, students) found statistical significance (p value <0.05). So it is concluded the perception of students, faculties and administrator were different on managing the nursing education.

The self-concept of PLHIV is a decisive factor in interpersonal communication, because everyone behaves as much as possible according to his concept. The results of interviews with 10 PLWHA showed that the respondents still felt ashamed and felt that they were not useful for this life and felt excluded by their family and environment. The purpose of the study is to describe the concept of self (PLWHA). The design used in this study is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The sampling method uses accidental sampling as many as 188 respondents. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire. The results showed 113 respondents (60.1%) had a positive self-concept. 98 respondents (52.1%) had a positive body image, 116 respondents (61.7%) had an ideal positive self, 96 respondents (51.1%) had negative self-esteem, 167 respondents (83.5%) had an appearance negative role and 98 respondents (52.1%) had a positive self-identity. Conclusion in this study more than half the number of respondents have a positive self-concept, the respondent has accepted what happened to him and is ready to face life in the future and considers that life is a process of discovery. Keywords: PLWHA, self concept.
