Information management, an important element of which is the information system, has a direct impact on the functioning of a company, including its competitive position. Information management is related to the shape of the organizational culture, represented, inter alia, by the context of trust, relationship, and communication. The shape of the organizational culture, including the functioning of the information system, is particularly influenced by factors (usually external) that appear in a sudden and unpredictable manner. This impact increases with the intensity and scale of their influence. The recent COVID-19 pandemic should undoubtedly be considered such a factor. As a result, many enterprises suddenly had to switch to remote work. The aim of this paper is to analyze the essence and recognize the impact of the forced transition to a remote form of work on trust as a shaping and effective factor in the functioning of the company’s information system. To achieve this goal, the results of qualitative research conducted by the authors during the period March 2020–February 2021 and quantitative research conducted in February 2021 were used. In connection with the conducted research, it was found that trust is a very important factor influencing the efficiency and quality of employees’ work. It was also found that the forced need to switch to remote work mode was a problem for most people. This was influenced by both the time of the pandemic, as well as technical and organizational problems. As a result of observations, own experiences, interviews, and a questionnaire survey, the authors state that the necessity to switch from traditional to remote work resulted in an increase in the costs of functioning of people, including employees.

The proponents of national culture have a strong belief that national culture has an impact on the performance of a firm. They also believe that national culture influences team work and the ability to innovate. They consider the impact of national culture on behavior and relationships to be longer lasting than cultural influences that tend to diminish as a company changes. On the other hand, the supporters of organizational culture have a strong conviction that well-defined and widely used organizational practices throughout the organization will help an organization become excellent and capable of achieving high levels of performance. Both the partisans of organizational culture and the supporters of national culture have their own reasons as to why each side is more impactful when compared to the other. This paper attempts to answer which side has a stronger impact by reviewing the literature on the effect of national culture or organizational culture on the supply chain operations of MNCs in Japan and the US. It appears that national culture is more impactful than organizational culture when it comes to supply chain operations.

Organizational culture has become a fashionable subject in recent years, a topic that has been approached frequently in both academic and economic environments. Its importance is mainly reflected by the impact it has on the results of an organization. Thus, whether a public institution, a state-owned or a foundation society, we can definitely appreciate that a healthy organizational culture is a safe chance for success, it is one of the main factors that can determine the performance of that organization. In this context, the paper addresses a topic that has been little explored in the Romanian literature: to establish a possible link between the organizational culture and the performance of an organization. In order to achieve a first pragmatic approach to the research topic, we have conducted a case study on the assessment of organizational culture within a power generation company. This study evaluated the organizational culture in the company and analyzed whether the organizational culture influences its performance. The case study is not representative of Romania, but it is only a trend reflected by a company that produces electricity and which has posed the issue of assessing the organizational culture and its impact on its long-term performance. The research was conducted on a representative sample for management and executives. Through the research, the organizational culture was evaluated, its specificity was highlighted, and the organizational culture within the company was observed. It has been analyzed whether the organizational culture is understood by the employees and whether they fully adhere to it, but also the link between this concept and the company’s performance. The management segment that refers to organizational culture is of great importance in the structure of a company as it can influence its results. Culture could be used to improve employees’ actions within a company if it is managed correctly, creating a competitive advantage, thus differentiating companies from one another. Taking these issues into account, understanding and using the concept of organizational culture as a tool within a company has become impetuously necessary if a company targets a top position in the ranking of the domain in which it operates. It is obvious that understanding of culture is crucial to managerial and organizational action, not just a causal relationship between organizational culture and performance.

As south-south investments increase so do the issues experienced by investing companies. One of these is the impact of culture. This article analyzes the effects of the subsidiary country culture on an investing firm’s organizational culture and the managerial practices used to address them. Data is gathered from cultural databases, a company-wide survey and semi structured interviews. Descriptive statistics are used to reveal country and organizational culture differences, with content analysis to expose management responses. There is a clear difference between the firm’s Vietnamese and Peruvian workers, with the company’s practices more amenable to the Vietnamese employees. Recognition of this has resulted in a number of initiatives to reduce its impact. The study’s results offer suggestions that may be valued by other foreign companies interested in operating in Peru and may be especially relevant to Southeast Asia and Asian companies interested in investing in or looking to start operations in Latin America.
