Aluminum alloy-aluminum-steel cladding plates were manufactured by explosive welding. Microstructures of the cladding plates were observed and the interface bonding properties were tested. Aluminum alloy-aluminum-steel transition joints were produced by welding the explosive cladding plates. The bonding interface configuration and property were investigated and tested after welding. The effects of welding technology on the interface bonding properties were discussed. The results showed that metallurgical behavior has been occurred at the bonding interfaces between aluminum alloy and aluminum and aluminum and steel. Regular sine waves have appeared on the bonding interface between aluminum alloy and aluminum. However, the bonding interfaces between aluminum and steel present line-shape. The shear strength and separate strength of the cladding plates were much higher than the standard strength. After being welded, the configuration of the bonding interface has no marked change. The strength of the bonding interface decrease a little. The welding technology had no remarkable effect on the bonding interface of the aluminum alloy-aluminum-steel cladding plates.

Abstract 850.0 ALUMINUM Alloy can be considered the general purpose light metal bearing alloy. Its good thermal conductivity keeps operating temperatures low. It has high ductility. In many applications it has been found to be superior to steel backed bearings. 852.0 ALUMINUM Alloy has higher mechanical properties making it suitable for heavier load and higher temperature applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as heat treating and machining. Filing Code: Al-290. Producer or source: Federated Bronze Products Inc..

5083 aluminum alloy, due to moderate strength, good thermal conductivity and formability, is an ideal structural material for car production. Influence of cold rolling process on microstructures and mechanical properties of 5083 aluminum alloys is significant and research hotspots. In this paper, cold deformation and annealing processes on grains, tensile properties and anisotropies of 5083 alloy sheets were studied. Results showed that incomplete recrystallization occured on 5083 alloy sheets when annealing temperature was at 300°C. The degree of recrystallization increased slightly with the cold deformation raised from 30% to 50% and varied slightly with prolonged annealing time from 2h to 4h. Furthermore, fully recrystallization occurred on 5083 alloy sheets at the annealing temperature above 320°C. Tensile strength of 5083 alloy sheets reduced significantly when the annealing temperature was raised from 300°C to 320°C, while it varied slightly when the annealing temperature continued to rise to 380°C.

Gallium-based liquid metal (LM) inherits excellent thermophysical properties and pollution-free characteristics. However, it has long been a fatal problem that LM would cause serious corrosion and embrittlement on the classical substrate made of aluminum alloys in constructing chip cooling device. Here, anodic oxidation treatment was introduced on processing the aluminum alloy aiming to tackle the corrosion issues. The prepared anodic oxidation aluminum (AAO) coatings were composed of nanopore layers and barrier layers on a high-purity alumina matrix that were manufactured electrochemically. According to the measurement, the effective thermal conductivity of the anodized aluminum alloy increases with the total thickness of sample increasing. When the total thickness L exceeds 5 × 10−3 m, effects of the porous media on effective thermal conductivity are negligible via model simulation and calculation. It was experimentally found that aluminum alloy after surface anodization treatment presented excellent corrosion resistance and outstanding heat transfer performance even when exposed in eutectic gallium–indium (E-GaIn) LM over 200 °C. The convective heat transfer coefficient of LM for anodized sample reached the peak when the heat load is 33.3 W.

This research article describes the newly developed composite material using the artificial pellets made of incineration ashes and recycled aluminum alloys. The factor affecting its various properties was investigated and discussed. Through trial and error, the hybrid preform with good soundness and preferable dispersion of the pellets could be obtained. The density and compression strength and thermal conductivity were measured in comparison of other structural materials.

This paper presents the study on interface bonding characteristic of AA7075 and AA6061 aluminum alloy with AR500 steel by torch brazing bonding process. The weight reduction in vehicles component is required for energy saving in the automobile industry. Lightweight metals such as aluminum joining with other metal especially with steel, have started replaced steel parts in automobile structures but the effect of intermetallic compound (IMC) layer formation have limited the application in this industry due to strength matter.  The torch brazing method was done to join the dissimilar metal with Al-Si-Zn base filler metal for the process. The shear strength of the AA6061/AR500 joint was higher than the AA7075/AR500 joint when the joining conditions were the same. The IMC formation was observed at the joint interface, and the joints mainly fractured at this region.
