The aim of this research is to determine the characteristics of Generation Z piano students from the perspective of piano teachers. The sample of the study consists of 40 piano teachers working in state conservatories with piano departments in Turkey. The data were collected with the “Teacher Opinion Form” consisting of 24 questions, which took its final form with expert opinions, and the findings were tabulated. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the majority of Generation Z piano students are generally impatient, have high self-confidence but low self-awareness in terms of personality traits. In terms of studying and learning characteristics, they experience great difficulties in their individual studies without support, they do not know their own learning methods, they have difficulty in managing their study time properly, and their professional curiosity is not high. When students are evaluated according to their emotional state, they are temperamental, have difficulty accepting criticism and lose their belief in success quickly. Piano students, according to their digital literacy, are hasty and play fast due to the habit of quick action/quick response habit acquired from the digital environment, and they quickly get bored with the works they are practicing as they are unable to balance between the regular flow of new information in the digital environment and the flow in real life. It is also among the results obtained that the students of Generation Z, who were born into technology, do not use this technology efficiently in terms of contribution to the piano lesson. In the light of these results obtained, suggestions regarding the piano education of Generation Z and future field studies were presented.

The key approaches to the conceptualization of the concept of digital literacy in foreign and Russian research discourse are considered. Along with the classical interpretation of P. Gilster of digital literacy as the understanding and use of information using a computer, the author analyzes functionalistic and cognitive approaches to the interpretation of digital literacy. There is a shortage of approaches to the analysis of competencies associated with effective communication and adaptation to the social network communication culture of youth. New conceptualization proposed social and network digital literacy as an element of network digital culture and digital literacy of generation Z. Based on the estimates and opinions of representatives of the digital generation identified as a result of a series of field studies in the framework of a research project devoted to the study of the network culture of generation Z, the content of the following complex is revealed, communicative and pragmatic competencies that form social network digital literacy: linguistic competency in the production of multi-genre social network content and effective feedback; communicative competencies in organizing contexts of social network communication with various user audiences; practical and normative competencies to comply with ethical standards and etiquette requirements and to maintain conflict-free social network communication; the competencies of social network self-presentation. It is concluded that a discussion of the need to educate and acquire competencies related to adaptation to generation Z network communication culture can serve as a key to bridging the digital divide between generations.

Aims: To evaluate the real-life effect of photocatalytic surfaces on the air quality at two test-sites in Denmark. Background: Poor air quality is today one of the largest environmental issues, due to the adverse effects on human health associated with high levels of air pollution, including respiratory issues, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and lung cancer. NOx removal by TiO2 based photocatalysis is a tool to improve air quality locally in areas where people are exposed. Methods: Two test sites were constructed in Roskilde and Copenhage airport. In Roskilde, the existing asphalt at two parking lots was treated with TiO2 containing liquid and an in-situ ISO 22197-1 test setup was developed to enable in-situ evaluation of the activity of the asphalt. In CPH airport, photocatalytic concrete tiles were installed at the "kiss and fly" parking lot, and NOx levels were continuously monitored in 0.5 m by CLD at the active site and a comparable reference site before and after installation for a period of 2 years. Results: The Roskilde showed high stability of the photocatalytic coating with the activity being largely unchanged over a period of 2 years. The CPH airport study showed that the average NOx levels were decreased by 12 % comparing the before and after NOx concentrations at the active and reference site. Conclusion: The joined results of the two Danish demonstration projects illustrate a high stability of the photocatalytic coating as well as a high potential for improvements of the real-life air quality in polluted areas.

For teachers of piano pedagogy, this book provides tools to transform college piano students into professional piano teachers. It is not simply a book about teaching piano—instead, it is a book about how piano students learn to teach. It helps teachers develop pedagogy course curricula, design and facilitate practicum-teaching experiences, and guide research projects in piano pedagogy. After an introduction to the history of the domain, to its related topics, and to course materials, the book gives unique perspectives on how pedagogy teachers can introduce students to course concepts and then how to help them put those concepts into practice. To facilitate easy integration into the curriculum, it provides example classroom exercises and assignments throughout the text, which are designed to help students understand and practice the related topics and skills.

: The NOx gasses (NO and NO2) are among the most important air pollutants, due to the toxicity of NO2, as well as the role of NOx in the tropospheric oxidation of Volatile Organic Carbons (VOCs), contributing to the formation of other hazardous air pollutants. Air pollution is one of the biggest health threats world-wide, hence reducing NOx levels is an important objective of the UN sustainable development goals, e.g. #3, “Good health and well-being” and #11 “Sustainable cities and communities”. Photocatalysis using TiO2 and light is a promising technique for removing NOx along with other pollutants, as demonstrated on laboratory scale. Furthermore, a long range of real-life test studies of varying scales have been conducted during the past two decades. The results of these studies have been conflicting, with some studies reporting no effect on the ambient air quality and others reporting significant reductions of NOx level. However, the studies are very difficult to compare and assess due to the very different approaches used, which consequently vary in quality. In this review, we aim to develop a set of objective evaluation criteria to assess the quality of the individual studies in order to simplify the interpretation and comparison of the existing studies. Moreover, we propose some guidelines for future test-studies. Furthermore, the approaches and main conclusions from 23 studies are independently assessed and discussed herein.

In modern conditions of overall informatization, the majorities of children of older pre-school age actively use gadgets and have access to the Internet. However, just one-fourth of parents demonstrate concerns about digital security. That is why the issues associated with cybersecurity training in preschool education, legislative regulation in ensuring the security and development of children in a digital environment are relevant for present-day pre-school education. The study was based on the activities carried out by teachers and psychologists of the methodology association of the Leninsky district of Yekaterinburg. The methods used in the study involved observations, the analysis of information obtained through counseling and psychological checks, interviews, surveys of instructors and specialists dealing with parents in kindergarten. As a result, we revealed the problems with digital competence among all the participants of the process of upbringing and education and defined the impact of parents on the formation of digital literacy. Of special interest is a new position when the modern parent is given a “relief” from a child with the help of gadgets, which calls for family psychological support on pre-schoolers’ secure use of digital technologies. The main task of working with parents is to shape perceptions of the problems associated with free contacts of the child with information technologies and the necessity to control digital information received by the child.

ABSTRACTThis  paper  is  part  of  a  larger  study  on  mobile  communication  in  the  Spanish  language  variety  of  Buenos  Aires (Argentina)  and  the  peninsular  Spanish  (Spain)  from  a  sociolinguistic  and  pragmatic  perspective,  which  aims  to  identify discursive  regularities  and  phenomena  of  pragmatic  variation,  and  associated  to  contextual  variables.  Communication  via SMSes, subscribed to “electronic style” (Vela Delfa 2005, 670), progressively has distinguished characteristics that differen-tiate  it  from  other  communications  produced  in  digital  environment.  In  the  analysis,  we  consider  the  how,  on  one  hand, despite the brevity required by character-limit, pragmatics elements of expressive, appellative, phatic functions of language are  verified,  and,  second,  how  these  issues  reflect  attitudes  related  to  rapport  management  between  speakers,  therefore, questions of (im)politeness and, in addition, negotiation of image. These linguistics practices associated with digital literacy, as knowledge to be acquired, impact on social practices and attitudes derived from the adaptation to the context of interac-tion. Central features of pragmatic aspects related to (im)politeness, which were collected by test of social habits (Hernández Flores, 2002) implemented in both study communities, will be presented. The present study is framed within the Interactional Sociolinguistics’  approach,  concepts  from  Cyberpragmatics(Yus,  2010)  and  sociocultural  Pragmatics.

Much of the development of children, young people, and young adults is determined by opportunities for play and “real life” experience in their early years. This is not, as some believe, an optional or frivolous luxury, but an essential life experience for development of character, skills, self-awareness, and competence. Yet in recent years, evidence shows that opportunities for this at all ages have diminished in both quality and quantity in many countries. The reasons for this are multiple and complex, but one factor has been a drive to create a low risk or even risk-free society via the application of newly developed techniques of risk assessment and science-based methods of risk control. However, the health benefits of these public safety initiatives might have much less effect than people might believe and could, overall, be harmful through their prohibitions. We conclude that more research into the nature of risky play and risk exposure through teenage years and into adulthood is necessary, but tentatively propose that we need to also consider the possible effects of irrational overprotection. In addition to the conventional play setting, the current spread of trigger warning and safety rooms will be considered as an illustrative case affecting young adults. Rather than avoidance and consolidation of negative metacognitions about lack of control and vulnerability one needs to convey how science suggests that exposure or interventions to change perceptions of vulnerability may be more beneficial.
