The contribution focuses on the risk aspects of digital communication in cyberspace with a specific emphasis on bullying and has a theoretical-empirical character. The authors focused on the theoretical reflection of cyber aggressors, presenting number of definitional framework in the context of addressing issues of domestic and foreign authors. The main part of the contribution is focused on the results of the research aimed at the personality of cyber aggressors, their motives, experienced emotions and behavioural tendencies in the cyberbullying process. An important part of the contribution represents authentic statements of cyber aggressors contracted in various contexts. In conclusion, the authors emphasize the importance of prevention and elimination activities, as well as media and digital literacy, which would help to reduce negative phenomena in the digital environment.

In modern conditions of overall informatization, the majorities of children of older pre-school age actively use gadgets and have access to the Internet. However, just one-fourth of parents demonstrate concerns about digital security. That is why the issues associated with cybersecurity training in preschool education, legislative regulation in ensuring the security and development of children in a digital environment are relevant for present-day pre-school education. The study was based on the activities carried out by teachers and psychologists of the methodology association of the Leninsky district of Yekaterinburg. The methods used in the study involved observations, the analysis of information obtained through counseling and psychological checks, interviews, surveys of instructors and specialists dealing with parents in kindergarten. As a result, we revealed the problems with digital competence among all the participants of the process of upbringing and education and defined the impact of parents on the formation of digital literacy. Of special interest is a new position when the modern parent is given a “relief” from a child with the help of gadgets, which calls for family psychological support on pre-schoolers’ secure use of digital technologies. The main task of working with parents is to shape perceptions of the problems associated with free contacts of the child with information technologies and the necessity to control digital information received by the child.

ABSTRACTThis  paper  is  part  of  a  larger  study  on  mobile  communication  in  the  Spanish  language  variety  of  Buenos  Aires (Argentina)  and  the  peninsular  Spanish  (Spain)  from  a  sociolinguistic  and  pragmatic  perspective,  which  aims  to  identify discursive  regularities  and  phenomena  of  pragmatic  variation,  and  associated  to  contextual  variables.  Communication  via SMSes, subscribed to “electronic style” (Vela Delfa 2005, 670), progressively has distinguished characteristics that differen-tiate  it  from  other  communications  produced  in  digital  environment.  In  the  analysis,  we  consider  the  how,  on  one  hand, despite the brevity required by character-limit, pragmatics elements of expressive, appellative, phatic functions of language are  verified,  and,  second,  how  these  issues  reflect  attitudes  related  to  rapport  management  between  speakers,  therefore, questions of (im)politeness and, in addition, negotiation of image. These linguistics practices associated with digital literacy, as knowledge to be acquired, impact on social practices and attitudes derived from the adaptation to the context of interac-tion. Central features of pragmatic aspects related to (im)politeness, which were collected by test of social habits (Hernández Flores, 2002) implemented in both study communities, will be presented. The present study is framed within the Interactional Sociolinguistics’  approach,  concepts  from  Cyberpragmatics(Yus,  2010)  and  sociocultural  Pragmatics.  We  follow  Spencer-Oatey (2000-2011) and Fant & Granato (2002) in the study of rapport management.RESUMENEste trabajo forma parte de un estudio más amplio sobre la comunicación por teléfono móvil en la variedad lingüísti-ca del español bonaerense (Argentina) y del español peninsular (España) desde una perspectiva sociolingüística y pragmática, que tiene por objeto identificar regularidades discursivas y fenómenos de variación pragmática, asociados a variables sociolin-güísticas y contextuales. Las comunicaciones por SMS, inscritas en el estilo electrónico (Vela Delfa 2005,670), progresivamente han distinguido características propias, que las diferencian de otras comunicaciones producidas en entornos digitales. En el análisis atendemos al modo en que, por un lado, a pesar de la brevedad —exigida por el límite de caracteres—, se verifican elementos pragmáticos vinculados a las funciones expresiva, fática y apelativas del lenguaje y, por otro, a cómo estas cuestiones reflejan actitudes vinculadas a la gestión interrelacional entre hablantes y, con especial atención a cuestiones de (des)cortesía verbal y, adicionalmente, negociación de imagen. En tanto prácticas lingüísticas vinculadas a la literacidad digital, como cono-cimiento y habilidades repercuten, en parte, en prácticas sociales y actitudes derivadas de la adecuación al contexto de interac-ción. Se presentan características medulares de aspectos pragmáticos relativos a la (des)cortesía verbal recogidos con test de hábitos sociales (Hernández Flores 2002) implementados a 219 hablantes en ambas comunidades de estudio entre septiembre de 2013 y febrero de 2014. El presente estudio se enmarca en los lineamientos de la sociolingüística interaccional e integra concep-tos de la ciberpragmática (Yus, 2010) y la pragmática sociocultural. Por otra parte, para la conceptualización de la gestión interrelacional, consideramos a Spencer-Oatey (2000) y a Fant y Granato (2002).

Football clubs can be considered global brands, and exactly as any other brand, they need to face the challenge of adapting to digital communications. Nevertheless, communication sciences research in this field is scarce, so the main purpose of this work is to analyze digital communication of the main football clubs in Europe to identify and describe what strategies they follow to make themselves known on the internet and to interact with their users. Specifically, the article studies the characteristics of web pages—considered as the main showcase of a brand/team in the digital environment—of the fifteen best teams in the UEFA ranking to establish what type of structure and what online communication resources they use. Through a descriptive and comparative analysis, the study concludes, among other aspects, that the management of communication is effective, but also warns that none of the analyzed team takes full advantage of the possibilities of interaction with the user offered by the digital scenario.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a digital intelligence quotient (DIQ) scale questionnaire that encompasses the digital identity, digital use, digital safety, digital security, digital emotional intelligence, digital communication, digital literacy and digital rights. Design/methodology/approach DIQ research was conducted in two phases to develop an assessment scale. First, 33 questions were developed based on previous DIQ concepts and theories. These questions were then validated using exploratory factor analysis into eight dimensions as digital identity, digital use, digital safety, digital security, digital emotional intelligence, digital communication, digital literacy and digital rights. A survey was conducted comprising 409 admins and clerks in SMEs. Second, confirmatory factor analysis and convergent validity were tested along the eight digital dimensions. Findings This study extended the DIQ concept to provide theoretical contribution for DIQ with intelligence study. Eight dimensions were developed to measure DIQ, including aspects of digital identity, digital use, digital safety, digital security, digital emotional intelligence, digital communication, digital literacy and digital rights. Research limitations/implications The DIQ questionnaire was a single-source, self-assessed data collection, as the sample included only employees of SMEs in Thailand. Results showed a good fit but require further refinement and validation using a larger sample size and various supplementary sampling contexts. Practical implications The eight DIQ dimensions and questionnaire results will assist organisations and supervisors to focus on employees’ DIQ using both work and lifestyle parameters. This knowledge will help supervisors to encourage employees to increase their DIQ for more effective usage of digital literacy. Researchers and academics will be able to apply this instrument in future studies. Originality/value The DIQ questionnaire is a new instrument which comprehensively explores relevant dimensions to increase employee understanding of digital identity, digital use, digital safety, digital security, digital emotional intelligence, digital communication, digital literacy and digital rights.

This article sets out a framework for a critical digital literacy curriculum derived from the four resources, or reader roles, model of critical literacy developed by Luke and Freebody (1990). We suggest that specific problematics in academic engagement with and curriculum development for digital literacy have occurred through an overly technocratic and acritical framing and that this situation calls for a critical perspective, drawing on theories and pedagogies from critical literacy and media education. The article explores the consonance and dissonance between the forms, scope and requirements of traditional print/media and the current digital environment, emphasising the knowledge and operational dimensions that inform literacy in digital contexts. It offers a re-interpretation of the four resources framed as critical digital literacy (Decoding, Meaning Making, Using and Analysing) and elaborates the model further with a fifth resource (Persona). The transition of the economy to a digital format requires universities to train graduates with special competencies. The most important of them, according to the government and employers, is the competence of communication and cooperation in the digital environment. For its sustainable formation, systematic work is required, covering the entire learning process. The article discusses the possibilities of developing communication competence in the framework of teaching mathematics to first-year undergraduate students of an economic university. The authors see the potential of online tests for building digital communication skills. Regular use of online response systems in the educational process makes it possible to prepare students for some of the features of digital communication: instant immersion on the necessary platform, communication under strict regulations and time constraints. The paper describes the experience of testing students using the Socrative and PollEverywhere resources. Methodical recommendations for the organization of the educational process are given. The effectiveness of using online tests is confirmed by a survey of students.

The article describes the transformation of higher education during and after the pandemic. Digital Education is examined as one of the ways that can ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals. Not only positive features of digital education but also obstacles on the way to its development and implementation are considered. It’s determined how much the scientific community is interested in the subject of digital education. There has been analyzed the sentiment of blogosphere visitors who create and discuss the content related to the topic of digital education. The analysis identifies that negative posts are associated with the topic of digital security and the risk of digital addictions. In addition, this article presents the results of Internet-based testing of students that reveal the level of digital literacy and readiness to work in a digital environment. The problems students face are mainly related to aspects such as “digital content creation skills” and “digital security”. Also, the analysis of the frequency of interaction with gadgets and the risk of student digital addiction is carried out. It’s revealed that some of the respondents have a risk of internet addiction and a high level of nomophobia.

BACKGROUND Despite a growing body of knowledge about eHealth innovations, there is still limited understanding of the implementation of such tools in everyday primary care. OBJECTIVE The objective of our study was to describe health care staff’s experience with a digital communication system intended for patient-staff encounters via a digital route in primary care. METHODS In this qualitative study we conducted 21 individual interviews with staff at 5 primary care centers in Sweden that had used a digital communication system for 6 months. The interviews were guided by narrative queries, transcribed verbatim, and subjected to content analysis. RESULTS While the digital communication system was easy to grasp, it was nevertheless complex to use, affecting both staffing and routines for communicating with patients, and documenting contacts. Templates strengthened equivalent procedures for patients but dictated a certain level of health and digital literacy for accuracy. Although patients expected a chat to be synchronous, asynchronous communication was extended over time. The system for digital communication benefited assessments and enabled more efficient use of resources, such as staff. On the other hand, telephone contact was faster and better for certain purposes, especially when the patient’s voice itself provided data. However, many primary care patients, particularly younger ones, expected digital routes for contact. To match preferences for communicating to a place and time that suited patients was significant; staff were willing to accept some nuisance from a suboptimal service—at least for a while—if it procured patient satisfaction. A team effort, including engaged managers, scaffolded the implementation process, whereas being subjected to a trial without likely success erected barriers. CONCLUSIONS A digital communication system introduced in regular primary care involved complexity beyond merely learning how to manage the tool. Rather, it affected routines and required that both the team and the context were addressed. Further knowledge is needed about what factors facilitate implementation, and how. This study suggested including ethical perspectives on eHealth tools, providing an important but novel aspect of implementation.

Digital technologies have a strong impact on changes in the educational environment and activities. In the context of such changes, aggravated by the spread of coronavirus infection and the transition of schools to distance learning, teachers and students are facing the need to actively master digital tools and educational platforms. The authors aim at analyzing the professional gaps of teachers associated with digital literacy and the ability to effectively use digital technologies in educational activities. The conducted sociological research and the results obtained allow the authors to study the existing internal teachers’ gaps and show the main problems in the organization of educational activities in the context of the transition to distance learning and the existing gaps in the use of digital technologies by school teachers. Based on the results of the study, the authors have identified the key areas of the professional development of teachers. They have developed educational programs aimed at skill development and further training of teachers in the Russian Federation and foreign countries on such topics as the digital educational environment and the use of open educational resources, methods of using digital technologies in the organization of educational activities, methods and techniques of organization feedback, pedagogical communication in the digital environment, and information security and ethics in the digital environment. The authors have determined the conditions for the professional development of teachers in the process of skill development and further training, as well as self-education (including spontaneous training in the workplace).The authors believe that the increase in teachers’ digital literacy, based on filling their professional gaps, will help to improve the quality of general education and create conditions for the elimination of the digital divide of the population.
