This article was inspired by the first author’s observations in the teaching process, which refer to different learning patterns in studying a piece of music. I have noticed that although I teach all the students by using quite the same methods, part of them remember the pieces rather quickly and they prefer to play and practise them from memory. Some others, on the other hand, prefer to play from notes, and they continue doing it during the whole learning process. The aim of this article is to find, by an evidence-based method, the occurrence of the abovementioned learning patterns and describe their characteristic features. In case peculiarities occur, which can be projected against the typology of different learning patterns, it is possible to study connections with the earlier learning styles and learning and information processing theories. It also enables us to offer applications for a more person-centred approach in piano pedagogy to enhance both the learning process, student-teacher collaboration, and the student’s development as well as make them subjectively more pleasant for both parties. To investigate the learning patterns in basic piano studies, I video-recorded the classes with students of possibly similar backgrounds, giving them tasks testing their memory and note-reading skills. Based on the analysis of the collected information, I made conclusions about the existence and nature of hypothetical intuitive learning patterns. The interesting observations made by formal and non-formal examination add material for future in-depth studies, as the described phenomenon should be approached, above all, as a continuum, which enables us to estimate students’ inclination towards one or the other side to a greater or lesser extent, and consequently, the application of a better adapted teaching strategies.

Many models that take into account the learning styles have been developed with the formation of modern educational approaches. 4MAT model is a natural learning process moving sequentially through the learning cycle. According to the 4MAT model there are four learning styles and each student can learn more comfortable with their own learning styles. In consideration of neurological studies, also, the dominant hemisphere used by individuals in the information processing process is important in the 4MAT model. This chapter presents a lesson plan based on the 4MAT model as well as the results regarding the application of this lesson plan in a middle school located in the northern part of Turkey. The lesson plan was prepared by examining the books titled “4MAT 4 algebra: The system of mathematics” and “4 MAT 4 geometry teacher book” and receiving expert opinions.

The learning process has changed totally since the implementation of the distance learning policy (Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh-PJJ). Lecturers and students are required to be able to optimize the internet. This article discusses the process of Maharah Qira’ah using e-learning in UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This research is a qualitative study by describing data found in the field in depth. The data were collected through Google Forms, observation, distribution of questionnaires through Google Forms, and online interviews through social media and documentation. The results showed that the e-learning media used in Maharah Qira’ah classes are WhatsApp, Zoom, Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook applications, where Whatsapp is more significant than other media. In an effort to realize reading skills, the lecturers designed the lesson by demanding students to understand Qira'ah texts sent through WhatsApp Group, by writing new vocabulary found in the text, recording their readings, and sending them to WhatsApp Group, followed by solving 10 problems, and then discuss them with the lecturers and the other students. This study found that there is a shift in learning maharah qira’ah using e-learning from student center to media center. It means that the process depends on technology is more significant than dependence on teachers. This study also found that learning mahara qira'ah with conventional methods is more preferred by students than using e-learning. Although the teacher explains the material in depth and provides assignments that support student learning.

The relationship between WISC-R Full Scale IQ and scores on the Woodcock Reading Mastery Tests were explored for 80 developmentally disabled children. While the children's reading skills correlated moderately and significantly with intellectual status, abstract reading skills, e.g., word comprehension, correlated more highly with Full Scale IQ than did concrete ones, e.g., word identification. The development of concrete learning patterns by such children was discussed, with an emphasis on the emotional importance of these learning styles to the children and their families.

Purpose The purpose of this review article is to present certain linguistic domains to consider in the assessment of children learning a new language. Speech-language pathologists frequently face difficulty when determining if a bilingual or multilingual child possesses a true speech or language disorder. Given the increased number of new language learners across the world, clinicians must understand differences versus disorders to prevent underidentification or overidentification of a disorder. Conclusions Early identification of a true disorder has been shown to prevent language and literacy difficulties, given that children are able to achieve grade-level reading skills when given intervention. Clinical knowledge and skills are strongly required so that children receive evidence-based assessment to support their academic development. Learning Goal Readers will gain an understanding of the factors that support evidence-based assessment of bilingual and multilingual language learners.

<p>Teachers are a facilitator of the learning process. Teachers give pupils an ample time to discover new things on their own. Many challenges faced by the teachers in facilitating the activity of learners such as planning, creating, preparing, and selecting the materials used in the activity. Because of this, the task of the teachers is multi-faceted. Many things to be considered in making learning activities, must suit the capability of the learners, this activity can be adapted to different learning styles, and the activity must stimulate the interest of the learners. But not all activities are fitted for all learners because learners are diverse and unique in nature. The needs of pupils are the major concern of the teachers, to retain the learning of the pupils and especially the learning could apply in their daily lives for meaningful learning. The research dealt with the challenges of the teachers in increasing the learning retention among pupils and possible activities that stimulate the interest of the learners. This research measure the responses measured in getting the frequency, percentage, and weighted mean using formulas to analyze the data gathered. Utilize descriptive design with a survey questionnaire as the research instrument. This research has two sets of respondents the grade school teachers and pupils. <br></p>

This research was aimed to find out the types of politeness strategy that is used by 10th grade students to express criticism towards public issues through an anecdote text as well as the implication on the teaching and learning process of anecdote text in SMK TI Bali Global Jimbaran. There were fifteen anecdote texts analyzed in this research and they were collected through a writing test conducted in a 10th grade class in SMK TI Bali Global Jimbaran. The data were classified and analyzed based on the politeness strategy theory proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987) and ethnography of communication theory proposed by Hymes (1973). The result of the analysis shows that from the fifteen anecdote texts collected, there were only two types of politeness strategy found to be used in expressing criticism, they are bald on record strategy and off record strategy. There are ten anecdote texts composed by the students found using bald on record strategy, while the other five anecdotes using off record strategy in expressing criticism towards public issues. In other words, more students still used the more risky way of expressing criticisms, therefore it is important for the teacher to choose or design a better model of learning which can improve the students’ pragmatic competence.

This study examines whether personally performing other audit tasks can bias supervising seniors' going-concern judgments. During an audit, the senior performs some audit tasks him/herself and delegates other tasks to staff members. When personally performing an audit task, the senior would focus on the evidence related to that task. We predict that such evidence will have greater influence on the senior's subsequent going-concern judgment. The results of our experiment are consistent with our predictions. When provided with an identical set of information, seniors who performed another audit task for which the underlying facts of the case reflected positively (negatively) on the company's viability, subsequently made going-concern judgments that were relatively more positive (negative). Our results also demonstrate that the well-documented tendency of auditors to attend more to negative information does not always dominate auditors' information processing. Subjects who performed the task for which the underlying facts reflected positively on the company's viability directed their attention to such positive information and, consequently, both their memory and judgments were more positive than those of subjects in the other conditions. Recent findings indicating that biases in seniors' going-concern judgments may not be fully offset in the review process are discussed along with other potential implications of our results.

We have created a network that allocates a new computational unit whenever an unusual pattern is presented to the network. This network forms compact representations, yet learns easily and rapidly. The network can be used at any time in the learning process and the learning patterns do not have to be repeated. The units in this network respond to only a local region of the space of input values. The network learns by allocating new units and adjusting the parameters of existing units. If the network performs poorly on a presented pattern, then a new unit is allocated that corrects the response to the presented pattern. If the network performs well on a presented pattern, then the network parameters are updated using standard LMS gradient descent. We have obtained good results with our resource-allocating network (RAN). For predicting the Mackey-Glass chaotic time series, RAN learns much faster than do those using backpropagation networks and uses a comparable number of synapses.
