Objectives: To study the correlation between recovery time and hemoglobin level in COVID-19 infected patients. Study Design: Observational study. Setting: Rawal Institute of Health Sciences Islamabad, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Islamabad. Period: February 2021 to June 2021. Material & Methods: Data was analyzed using SPSS version 27.Mann Whitney U test was used to compare the duration of recovery among the groups and spearman's correlation was applied for correlating the duration of recovery with the Hb levels of COVID-19 patients. Result: Group 1 patients recovered within 14 days and group 2 patients recovered after 14 days. COVID-19 infected Patients with low hemoglobin level took more than 14-20 days to recover from disease and those with high hemoglobin recovered within 8-14 days. Conclusion. Recovery from disease was prolonged in corona virus infected patients with less hemoglobin as compared to patients with high levels of hemoglobin levels.

INTRODUCTION: Hysterectomy is the most commonly performed gynaecological surgery throughout the world. It may be life saving procedure in acute uterine hemorrhage; whereas improves the quality of life in a patient with certain uterine pathology such as fibroids, endometriosis and uterine prolapse. The objective of this study is to review the indications and complications of abdominal hysterectomy as well as to assess the correlation of preoperative clinical and ultrasonographic diagnosis with histopathology of hysterectomy specimens. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective review of medical records of patients who underwent abdominal hysterectomy between January 2010 and July 2012 in the College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Nepal was done. Various demographic and pertinent clinical informations were retrieved. Clinical presentations, indications and complications of the hysterectomy as well as the correlation between the clinical diagnosis, ultrasound findings and histopathological diagnosis of the hysterectomy specimen was studied. RESULTS: Between January 2010 and July 2012 a total of 139 patients had undergone abdominal hysterectomy for various indications. The mean age at the time of hysterectomy was 45.5 years. Abnormal vaginal bleeding and lower abdominal pain were the main presenting complaints. The median duration of symptoms was 12 months. Fourty three (40%) had hysterectomy alone and 96 (60%) had hysterectomy with salpingo oophorectomy. The most common clinical indication for hysterectomy was fibroid uterus (40.3%) followed by benign ovarian tumor (18.7%) and dysfunctional uterine bleeding (17.3%). There were no major postoperative complications. The correlation between clinical diagnosis and histopathology was significant at 0.01 level using Pearson correlations. CONCLUSION: Uterine fibroids and benign ovarian tumors are the common indications for abdominal hysterectomy. Postoperative complications are minimal and most of the time the clinical diagnosis correlates with the postoperative histopathological diagnosis.Journal of Universal College of Medical Sciences (2015) Vol.03 No.02 Issue 10Pages 16-19

Background & Method: The present study titled “To study level of Antithyroglobulin Antibodies in case of Autoimmune Thyroiditis” was conducted among the patients at Amaltas Institute of Medical Sciences. Dewas Patients coming to any clinical department with thyroid swelling during the study period were randomly selected for the study. After complete history and thorough clinical examination, FNAC was being performed with a 22 gauge needle in 10 ml syringe with or without USG guidance as per requirement. Result: In the present study, all the cases presented with a neck swelling. 71 (71%) out of the 100 cases had painful swelling while 29 (29%) presented with painless swelling. The levels of antithyroglobulin antibodies were found to be above 100 IU/ml in all the cases studied. 35 cases had levels between 100-500, 58 between 501-1000 and 7 above 1000 IU/ml. Conclusion: The cytomorphological details in cases of autoimmune thyroiditis, to study the level of antithyroglobulin antibodies and to correlate the cytological findings with clinical presentation and antithyroglobulin antibodies. The present study could not prove any statistical significance of the association of antithyroglobulin antibodies, yet the levels of these antibodies are essential as a part of thyroid work up of clinically diagnosed patients. Keywords: Antithyroglobulin, Antibodies & Thyroiditis. Study Designed: Observational Study

There are various devices and applications available in the market that can be used to measure heart rates. These are becoming increasingly popular. Amongst these include the Apple watch, the Xiaomi MI Band and using the Thermal Application (T.A.P.) software (used through a Smartphone). In clinical practice and research, usually the E.C.G. Is used to measure the heart rates, (apart from manually counting the beats by palpation). The study will determine the accuracy of using the available devices in the market (previously mentioned), and also determine if they can be used on patients or subjects while sitting and walking, in clinical practice and researches. Method: It will be a comparative observational study. 50 students, selected as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria from Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences will be the subjects of this study. Their heart rates will be monitored with the three devices, and compared with the readings from an E.C.G. It will be done as per Bruce protocol during walking, and in static sitting. The accuracy of the devices will be determined by analyzing the results acquired. The devices are: Apple watch, Xiaomi MI band, and a smart Phone with Thermal Application (T.A.P.) software installed. The successful completion of the study will determine which of the devices show the most accurate heart rate readings, in what positions of a patient (sitting or walking) it would be acceptable to use these devices (in terms of accuracy) in the case where an E.C.G. is not available, or at a time of urgency. The study will also show if it would be appropriate to use these devices in clinical practice and research studies.

Objective - The aim was to evaluate serum level of vitamin D [ 25 (OH) D ] in patients of acne vulgaris and to investigate the possibility of an existing relationship between low serum vitamin D level and severity of acne vulgaris . Material And Methods- This study was a hospital based observational study conducted on Outpatient Dermatology Clinics at Sikkim Manipal Institute Of Medical Sciences , Gangtok , Sikkim. Results- 40 cases were analysed in this study. Among 40 patients, 23 were males and 17 were females . Out of 40 patients 14 had mild acne and 18 patients had moderate acne.No of subjects having severe and very severe acne were 5 and 3 respectively . The results of the study showed that there were no signicant relationship between serum concentrations of vitamin D and severity of acne. Also , we did not nd any signicant correlation between serum vitamin D concentrations and gender of patients.
