The technological developments on artificial intelligence (AI) are going to diffuse in all scales of firms in different industries. AI is increasingly used in diverse business functions, including marketing, customer service, cost reduction, and product improvement. Although there exists a large number of studies on AI, those focusing on the businesses are rather rare, and there is no holistic conceptual framework that brings the information on defining AI business strategy. The aim of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework on defining AI business strategy through a systematic literature review (SLR) of research conducted between 2015 and 2019. Consolidating business and technical views of AI, the paper discusses the major elements of AI in business like abilities and limitations of AI, economics and AI, business functions and AI, workforce, industries and AI, and regulations and ethics of AI on defining AI business strategy.

Computing equipment capable of what one may term partial and quasi-intelligent behaviour, commonly referred to as Artificial Intelligence (AI), is assuming a key role in business. The probability is high that this Artificial Intelligence (AI) will lead to a fundamental change in the process of business strategy formulation as much as the very contents of this strategic behaviour. Product and market strategies and the resultant competitive behaviour will, more likely than not, be the outcome of those artificial intelligence processes and reiterations. A start is made and one can observe substantial progress in this direction. Who has done it and is there a conceptual framework behind this strategic behaviour? This will be the focus of this article The article starts with a brief definition of artificial intelligence and a basic framework of the concept. Seven case studies follow supporting the hypothesis that AI is penetrating the business strategy arena and leading to a fundamental change in the concept as much as the application. Those cases were drawn from different industries, and countries. A conceptual framework is accordingly derived and positioning of those case companies within this conceptual framework is done. The article is based on contemporary frameworks of AI and the cases are drawn from contemporary analysis of strategic behaviour. The conceptual model could provide an instrument for business AI application.

Abstract This article conducts a literature review of current and future challenges in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cyber physical systems. The literature review is focused on identifying a conceptual framework for increasing resilience with AI through automation supporting both, a technical and human level. The methodology applied resembled a literature review and taxonomic analysis of complex internet of things (IoT) interconnected and coupled cyber physical systems. There is an increased attention on propositions on models, infrastructures and frameworks of IoT in both academic and technical papers. These reports and publications frequently represent a juxtaposition of other related systems and technologies (e.g. Industrial Internet of Things, Cyber Physical Systems, Industry 4.0 etc). We review academic and industry papers published between 2010 and 2020. The results determine a new hierarchical cascading conceptual framework for analysing the evolution of AI decision-making in cyber physical systems. We argue that such evolution is inevitable and autonomous because of the increased integration of connected devices (IoT) in cyber physical systems. To support this argument, taxonomic methodology is adapted and applied for transparency and justifications of concepts selection decisions through building summary maps that are applied for designing the hierarchical cascading conceptual framework.

The primary aim of this systematic literature review (SLR) was to identify, assess and synthesize the extant evidence about the opportunities and challenges concerning the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the banking sector. From the SLR, it is evident that AI has several opportunities for the sector. There are many fin-tech start-ups that offer banking AI solutions, and banking regulators are fostering AI adoption through legislation and collaboration. Other opportunities include the following: personalized services, smart wallets, decision-making and problem-solving, customer satisfaction and loyalty, process automation (especially targeting repetitive tasks), transactional security and cybersecurity improvements, and promotion of digital financial inclusion. Nevertheless, the key banking industry stakeholders have to formulate appropriate strategies aimed at overcoming existing and prospect AI challenges. Among the AI challenges that should be prioritized we include the following: job loss and user acceptance concerns, privacy breaches, creativity and adaptability loss, restrictive implementation and operational requirements, digital divide, availability of vast quality data, AI-business strategy alignment, and loss of emotional “human touch”. However, existing studies are largely descriptive and based on secondary sources of data. This necessitates empirical studies to expand the existing body of knowledge regarding AI opportunities and challenges in the banking industry.

The construction industry is being viewed as one with poor quality emphasiscompared to other sectors like the manufacturing and service sectors. Many criticismshave been directed to the construction industry for generally shoddy workmanship. This is mainly the result of the industry’s failure to achieve the expected performancelevel in delivering its finished product and its customer service. Total qualitymanagement (TQM) is increasingly being adopted by construction companies as aninitiative to solve quality problems in the construction industry and to meet the needsof the customer. However, construction firms have been continually struggling withits implementation. Cultural change is being recognised as an important aspect of totalquality development. However, the issue surrounding quality culture and theirdevelopment has not been comprehensively studied. Based on literature review, thispaper discusses the issue of quality culture and a conceptual framework for thedevelopment of quality culture in construction industry

UNSTRUCTURED Objective: The potential benefits of artificial intelligence based decision support system (AI-DSS) from a theoretical perspective are well documented and perceived by researchers but there is a lack of evidence showing its influence on routine clinical practice and how its perceived by care providers. Since the effectiveness of AI systems depends on data quality, implementation, and interpretation. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze the effectiveness of AI-DSS in clinical setting and understand its influence on clinician’s decision making outcome. Materials and Methods: This review protocol follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta- Analyses reporting guidelines. Literature will be identified using a multi-database search strategy developed in consultation with a librarian. The proposed screening process consists of a title and abstract scan, followed by a full-text review by two reviewers to determine the eligibility of articles. Studies outlining application of AI based decision support system in a clinical setting and its impact on clinician’s decision making, will be included. A tabular synthesis of the general study details will be provided, as well as a narrative synthesis of the extracted data, organised into themes. Studies solely reporting AI accuracy an but not implemented in a clinical setting to measure its influence on clinical decision making were excluded from further review. Results: We identified 8 eligible studies that implemented AI-DSS in a clinical setting to facilitate decisions concerning prostate cancer, post traumatic stress disorder, cardiac ailment, back pain, and others. Five (62.50%) out of 8 studies reported positive outcome of AI-DSS. Conclusion: The systematic review indicated that AI-enabled decision support systems, when implemented in a clinical setting and used by clinicians might not ensure enhanced decision making. However, there are very limited studies to confirm the claim that AI based decision support system can uplift clinicians decision making abilities.
