The outbreak of the coronavirus has had severe implications on the availability and management of family resources. The aim of this study was to establish the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the management of family resources in Nigeria and also provide new approaches and alternatives that can be used to cope with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The descriptive survey design was used for the research. The population consisted of all households in Nigeria. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample size of 150 households from the study. Data were obtained using questionnaire that was developed using Google docs as the research instrument. The instrument was validated by three experts with a reliability coefficient of 0.61. The data were statistically analyzed using mean and standard deviation and findings presented on tables. One sample t-test was used to analyze the data. The participants from the study agreed that the Covid-19 outbreak has had an impact on family resource management causing reductions in the availability of family resources, quality of family life and size of family income. The result also showed that the impact of Covid-19 on family resource management is significantly (p<0.05) high. Therefore, to cope with the current changing times and the challenges posed by Covid-19, families should focus on acquiring skills such as digital and entrepreneurial skills, arranging their order of activities in order to meet family needs and reducing wastage of resources through proper management and recycling.

<div><p>Teachers often find themselves frustrated at work because of conflicting expectations concerning their professional and social roles within the community. This paper looks at the effect of teachers’ perception of their profession on their satisfaction at job and performance. The authors employ a survey design in private schools in Yei Town, South Sudan to establish the impact of these perceptions. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the respondents from ten private schools. The respondents’ therefore included 10 head teachers, 100 teachers giving a total of 110 respondents. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Data collected was analysed by the use of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 12.0 was and presented in frequencies and percentages and a regression analysis performed to establish the relationships among the variables. The study findings indicated that a considerable number of the teachers (38.9%) indicated that teacher’s own perception of their own profession does not affect the teachers’ job satisfaction and performance.</p></div>

The problem of the study was to explore the impact of academic achievement orientation in the context of private and public sector university students; it further aimed to investigate the impact of demographic variations such as gender, age, semester, birth order, number of siblings, discipline and family income in determining the level of academic achievement orientation of private and public sector university students. The achievement orientation attitude scale developed by Ansari was used to measure achievement orientations, which was consisted of 10 items. Data was collected through a stratified random sampling technique. Data were analyzed with various statistics, which provided an insight that students differ in terms of academic achievement orientations. Results revealed that students of public sector universities have higher academic achievement orientations. It is also recommended that at the university level, students may also learn self-management and ought to work hard in order to achieve their academic goals without an external push.

The increased prevalence of COVID-19 has had severe implications on the well-being of most organization and professionals most especially in the field of human resource management and marketing. This study focused on establishing the impact of COVID-19 on different human resource practices and future marketing. It was established that the dynamics of work have greatly changed from the traditional way of working from the organization’s premises to working remotely at home. Consequently, marketing has also shifted to different online platforms since physical contact with customers is currently prohibited to maintain social distancing one way of preventing coronavirus. These changes have been associated with different negative implications and some positives as some professionals find it more flexible and convenient to work remotely. To cope with the current changing times, an organization must adjust and adapt to the new emerging technologies of working remotely and consequently implement strategic policies and procedures towards maintaining a steady flow.

Purpose This study aims to test the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic on large firms, with regard to a supply disruption, productivity, customer satisfaction and firm performance. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional survey design and stratified sampling technique were implemented for employee selection and data gathering. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to examine the data and model fitness, while the structural equation model was used for hypotheses testing. Findings The pandemic triggered supply disruptions, but did not significantly impact the productivity of manufacturing firms directly. However, supply disruption positively and significantly impacted productivity. Organisational productivity had no significant impact on customer satisfaction, however, when mediating the relationship between Covid-19 and customer satisfaction, it produces a positive indirect effect. Finally, Covid-19 and supply disruption when mediated by organisational productivity both had negative significant relationships on performance. Research limitations/implications Having a unique model, it creates a trail for future researchers to explore further. Though customer satisfaction was expected to be affected by the pandemic, it is interesting to find out that customer satisfaction when mediated by organisational productivity was positively influenced. Practical implications Disruptions are inevitable, managers must balance the pursuit of customer satisfaction and productivity so that one does not erode the other. Emphasis must be channelled towards managing the productivity of the firm to maintain customer satisfaction during these uncertain times. Deliberate steps like manufacturing flexibility investments should be initiated. Originality/value The first study to examine Covid-19, supply disruption, customer satisfaction, organisational productivity and performance in the Nigerian manufacturing sector.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze the status of migrant child laborers in all the ten districts of Western Odisha in India. Identification of the area of concentration of migrant child labor in Western Odisha and evaluations of dimensions of the problem has been made in this article. Approach/Methodology/Design: In this study descriptive qualitative research method is applied. The population of the research was the innocent migrant child laborers and their parents of Western Odisha .Total sampling technique was used in this study. The sample consisted of eighty migrant child laborers that had migrated to Andhra Pradesh and were rescued by the author with the help of Labor & Employment Department, Government of Odisha, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh Police. Findings: The result of the study indicates that due to acute poverty, illiteracy of children and their parents, low family income and big family size, people have migrated from one state to another state with their family members and children in search of works and higher wages. It is also found out that children are forced to work in hazardous occupations like brick kilns instead of going to schools. Moreover, it can be stated that the lack of awareness and non-implementation of Labour Laws are also among the main reasons for the prevalence of child labour. Practical Implications: The research study contributes to the understanding of the causes, consequences and remedies of child labor problems in the society. The results will provide solutions to the stakeholders to integrate the victims of child labor for the betterment of their lives. Originality/value: The study explores the impact of the child labor system on the society. Certain possible solutions are suggested to make Western Odisha, Odisha as well as the whole country, free from child labor practices.

Statistically, Nigeria has a youth population of about 67 million, aged between 15 and 35 years. 42.2% of these young people are not gainfully employed while only 20% have more than the secondary school certificate. In order to bridge this gap, the Delta State Government developed the Delta ICT parks, a growing 21st century business, service and technology facility equipped to train, educate and encourage an entrepreneurial culture with sound human resource, that would drive development of an ICT knowledge based economy. This initiative, borne out of the Delta beyond oil is already in steady progress, enjoying the partnership of System Application Product (SAP) under the platform of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) that portends a global IT based future. The objective of this paper is to access the level of implementation and publicity, skill acquisition and degree of the impact of the initiative on employment generation in Delta State. The study, which adopted a survey design, applied three research questions and used oral interview and a Millennium Park Entrepreneurial Assessment Questionnaire (MPEAQ). The content validity was validated by experts from Entrepreneurial Skills Development and Human Resources Management of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku (DESPOG) with a test, re-test reliability coefficient of 0.82. A Sample of 350 was drawn using stratified random sampling technique from an undeterminable growing population comprising of secondary, tertiary education students, trainees and graduates of the programme. The simple percentage was used for data analysis. The findings revealed the need for the establishment of ICT parks with adequate awareness campaign. Also, that ICT skill acquisition is a panacea for employment generation in most societies. Recommendations were made based on findings on this model of employment generation through ICT in Delta State of Nigeria.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of design of e-servicescapes on student engagement in distance education (DE), and examine whether this impact is mediated by student experience quality. Design/methodology/approach Quantitative research approach based on cross-sectional survey design was adapted where data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Sample consisted of 252 undergraduates registered in the DE platform in Sri Lanka and was drawn using a simple random sampling technique. Collected data were analysed using the structural equation modelling. Findings Data analysis revealed that there is a direct significant impact of e-servicescapes on student engagement while this impact is partially mediated by student experience quality in the Sri Lankan context. Meantime, the social presence feature of e-servicescapes has the highest impact on student engagement. Practical implications Findings of the study provide an empirically validated model to boost up the student engagement and significantly contribute to the designing of the e-servicescapes of the DE institutes in order to offer a superior service to a wide array of stakeholders. Originality/value Even though e-servicescapes have been recognised as a driver of customer behaviour, the concept is fairly unexplored in the educational context. Due to its practical applicability in the DE context, this study contributes to the existing knowledge by presenting a novel conceptual model developed based on multiple theories to identify its impact on student behaviour.
