Inadequate moisture supply and poor soil management are some of the major constraints for productivity in grain legumes like chickpea, present study was to focus on effect of land configurations and mulching in overcoming the constraints and their effect on growth and yield of chickpea. During rabi, 2019-20, the experiment was laid out in split plot design at College Farm, Agricultural College, Polasa, Jagtial with three land configurations (M1- Flat bed, M2- Ridge and furrow, M3- Broad bed and furrow) as main plots and four mulching treatments (S1- Control, S2- Sesamum mulch, S3- Gliricidia mulch, S4- Paddy straw mulch) as sub plots and are evaluated for growth and yield. Significant performance of the growth parameters was observed under broad bed and furrow land configuration and in contrast, flat bed land configuration recorded the least performance. Among the mulching treatments gliricidia recorded the better performance over other treatments.

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is one of the most important vegetable crop of Nepal. Its yield and growth parameters are affected by different cultural practices. This study was conducted at Olericulture Farm of Agriculture and Forestry University, Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal during April 29 to July 9 of 2018. The field experiment was carried out in split plot design using three replications. The treatments consisted of three intra row spacing (30, 45 and 60 cm) and four different mulching materials (Silver plastic, Panicum repens, Lantana camara and bare soil). The objective of this experiment was to assess the effects of various intra-row spacings and mulching materials on growth and yield of okra. The effect of mulching materials on okra yield was found significant. The okra yield was highest (8104 kg/ha) under silver plastic mulch followed by control (5161kg/ha), Panicum repens (3901kg/ha) and Lantana camera (3701kg/ha), respectively. Silver plastic mulch enhanced the growth parameters like canopy length, plant height, leaf number, leaf length, girth and yield of okra. The spacings provided non significant effect on okra yield, however the yield of okra was highest (7295 kg/ha) under 30×30 cm spacing followed by 45×30 cm (4660 kg/ha) and 60 cm × 30 cm spacing (3703 kg/ha), respectively. Combination of silver plastic mulch along with 30 cm × 30 cm spacing provided the highest okra yield. This study suggests that farmers of the Chitwan should grow okra at spacing of 30 cm × 30 cm and under silver plastic mulch to produce higher yield.

Soil and water salinity is one of the major problems in the world for agricultural production. Tomato is one of the ten most important fruit and vegetables consumed in the world, with approximately one hundred million tonnes of fresh tomato fruit being produced worldwide every year. This research was conducted to determine the different evels of EC d S m-1 in irrigation water collected from Central Farm well water and Bore well water of Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai and Periyar Vaigai Command water in the year 2018 were evaluated Based on their growth and yield of tomato (PKM 1) . The results indicated that there was consistent decrease in yield with increase in salt concentration in saline irrigation water and yield and it was found that the maximum salinity tolerance is 2 d S m-1.

A field study entitled ʻʻEvaluation of varieties at varied crop geometry for yield maximization in soybeanʼʼ was conducted at College farm, Agricultural College, Polasa, Jagtial, PJTSAU, during the kharif season of 2018. The experiment was laid out in split-plot design with three replications to evaluate the performance of promising varieties of soybean (V1- Basar, V2- JS 335, V3- KDS 756 and V4- MACS 1281) and to standardize the crop geometry for Soybean varieties (S1- 45 x 10 cm, S2- 30 x 10 cm, S3- 45 x 05 cm and S4- 35 x 05 cm) under rainfedsemi arid conditions of Telangana. The results obtained from the present experiment indicated that among the varieties the yield attributes and yield are numbers of pods plant-1, number of seeds pod-1, seed yield, stalk yield and harvest index (%) and monetary returns of KDS 756 variety was significantly higher as compared to other varieties followed by Basar, MACS 1281, respectively. Hundred seed weight was significant among varieties and was higher with variety KDS 756 followed by MACS 1281, JS 335 and Basar. JS 335 showed inferior performance regarding yield attributes yield and monetary returns. Among crop geometry 30 x 10 cm recorded higher yield characters and monetary returns followed by 45 x 05 cm, 30 x 05 cm and 45 x 10 cm, respectively.

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural College Farm, Bapatla during kharif, 2013, to find out the ideal spacing in mesta crop grown for seed purpose, with four spacing viz., 30 cm × 10 cm, 20 cm × 10 cm, 15 cm × 15 cm and 15 cm × 10 cm, growth parameters viz., the plant height, number of branches per plant yield parameters viz., number of seeds per capsule and 1000 seed weight were not altered significantly due to different spacing tried. Significantly superior values for dry matter accumulation, crop growth rate, stalk yield and number of days to reach 50 % flowering were noticed with closer spacing of 15 cm × 10 cm than the remaining tried. Significantly higher relative growth rate and more number of capsules per plant was found at a wider spacing of 30 cm × 10 cm, which was however, on a par with 15 cm ×15 cm and 20 cm × 10 cm, where as the number of capsules per plant were found statistically same with 15 cm × 15 cm. Roselle sown at a closer spacing 15 cm × 10 cm produced maximum seed yield, which was however, found parity with 20 cm × 10 cm.

The experiment was conducted during spring summer seasons of 2013 and 2014 conducted at Research Farm of Vegetable Science, CCS HAU, in summer season. There were three spacing, three fertilizer levels and two varieties in split-split plot design with three replications. Growth parameters of okra crop were significantly affectedby spacing, fertilizer and varieties. Highest plants were observed in wider spacing with fertilizer application of 187.5 kg N + 75kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O per hectare in variety HBT-49-1. However, numbers of branches were highest in variety Hisar Unnat. Yield attributes like first fruiting node, intermodal length, fruit length and diameter etc. were highest in variety HBT-49-1 resulting in highest fruit yield (q/ha) in spacing 30 cm x 10 cm with the application of 187.5 kg N+75 kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O per hectare. The seed yield attributes and yield was significantly affected by spacing, fertilizer and varieties. Finally, spacing 30 cm × 10 cm resulted in higher growth parameters, yield attributes and yield with the application of 187.5 kg N +75 kg P2O5 + 60 K2O in variety HBT-49-1 of okra.

A field experiment was conducted during kharif-2017 at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai in a factorial randomized block design. The present research was designed by nine treatment combinations considering three dates of sowing D1: II fortnight of June, D2 : I fortnight of July and D3 : II fortnight of July and three nitrogen levels N1: RDN (80 kg ha-1), N2 : 75% RDN (60 kg ha-1) and N3 : 125% RDN (100 kg ha-1) to study the growth and yield components of pearlmillet grown with variety CO (Cu) 10. The crop sown on I fortnight of July with 125 % RDN recorded maximum growth parameters, yield components and recorded significantly highest grain yield. The lowest was recorded in crop sown on II fortnight of July with application of 75% RDN.

Field experiments were conducted at the Central Farm of the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, India during the rabi (October-January) seasons of 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 in a split plot design with three replications. The soil of the experiments was sandy clay loam with a neutral reaction. The main plot consisted of six irrigation schedules with mid-season drainage, while four N splits were taken as sub- plots. The experimental results revealed that irrigation to a depth of 5 cm one day after the disappearance of ponded water and mid-season drainage, along with N applied in four splits, with 16.7% at 10 days after transplanting, 33.3% at active tillering, 33.3% at panicle initiation and 16.7% at the heading stage, produced significantly higher growth, yield attributes, grain and straw yields in hybrid rice. A combination of the above treatments led to maximum grain yields of 7533 and 8078 kg ha-1 (45.53 and 45.86% in excess of the control) in 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, respectively.

The investigation was carried out in sandy loam soils at college farm, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Hyderabad during kharif, 2019. From results it can be concluded that growth parameters which were recorded at 30 days after sowing (DAS), Knee-high stage, 60 DAS and at harvest like SPAD, leaf area and at flowering parameters like days to 50% tasseling and silking were shown highest in treatment T5-RDF + FYM enrichment with 50 kg ZnSO4 ha-1 and also it was on par with T7-RDF + ZSB (1kg/100 kg FYM) + 0.2% Foliar spray of ZnSO4 (Knee-high and Tasseling stages). Similar trends has been recorded in case of yield attributes like number of rows cob-1, number of kernels row-1, total no. of kernels cob-1, kernels weight cob-1 and test weight.

A field experiment was conducted during the winter season, 2017-2018, at Demonstration Farm of the College of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology, Shambat, Khartoum State, Sudan. The objective of this experiment was to assess the effect of water intervals on growth and yield of three Chickpea cultivars, namely Atmore, Wad-Hamid and Shendi. Split-plot design was adopted with three replications. The three water intervals treatments were (10, 20 and 30) days which arranged in the main plots and three chickpea cultivars placed in subplot. Plant parameters measured were plant height (cm), number of leaves per plant, number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant, weight of pods per plant (g), number of seeds per pod, weight of seeds per plant (g) and hundred seed weight (g). The results showed that there were significant differences among the treatments in number of leaves, number of branches, number of seeds per pod and hundred seeds weight. However, there were highly significant differences in plant height, number of pods per plant, weight of pods per plant and weight of seeds per plant. Irrigation every ten days gave best results in most of the studied parameters, irrespective to cultivars. The result revealed that no significant differences occur between chickpea cultivars in all parameters measured except in the number of seeds per pod and hundred seeds weight.

The research was conducted at Beltari Sandhikharka-10, Arghakhanchi district to study about the effect of various doses of boron on growth and yield attributing characters of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) during off-season from February to June in 2020. Five treatments; B0 (control/no application), B1: 2kg/ha, B2: 4kg/ha, B3: 6kg/ha, B4: 8kg/ha which are the different doses of boron application were laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 4 replications. The growth parameters like plant height, number of leaves per plant leaf length and leaf breadth of largest leaf were recorded multiple times with 15 days interval. Days to curd initiation and Days from curd initiation to harvest were recorded by regular field observation. The yield parameters; curd weight with leaves, Marketable curd weight, average curd yield, incidence of hollowing were recorded during harvest. The economics from application of boron doses in cauliflower production was obtained in terms of cost of cultivation, gross returns, net returns, and benefit cost ratio. The result showed that the growth and yield attributing characters of cauliflower were significantly affected by application of boron in which the value of these parameters was found significantly higher in B1 followed by other treatments. The average curd yield of cauliflower in B1 was found to be 12.39 mt/ha which was 48.92% higher than that of B0 with curd yield 8.32 mt/ha. Similarly, the net return was found significantly the highest in B1 and the lowest in B0. The result showed that application of boron in the range of 2-4 kg/ha is preferred to control and higher doses in respect of both productivity and economics.
