What haunts the city? Why is there so much pessimism in our urban lives? How does this physical and psychological insecurity of relentless competition and a desire to succeed against all odds proliferate into cinema? Dark Fear, Eerie Cities analyses a wide array of films made in the early 21st century to offer a philosophical and psychoanalytical critique of the transforming cinematic imagery. It traces the trajectory of Hindi cinema from the pre-1990s feudal family ideal to the contemporary construction of the new middle class’s subjectivities against a postcolonial backdrop. Keeping in mind the effects of globalization, market liberalization and the emergence of new forms of media and their consumption, the book provides a theoretical perspective to cinematic transformations. Paunksnis presents an interdisciplinary study of a genre of cinema in which crime thrillers and horror films are aimed at answering some of the fundamental questions of our contemporary times.

The work is devoted to the current theme, because in today's socio-psychological insecurity in Ukraine there is no comprehensive approach to the organization of socio-psychological prevention of the consequences of psychotraumatic exacerbations of destructive aggression of servicemen who suffered in the conditions of participation in hostilities. The aim of the work is not only a theoretical analysis of the problem, but also a practical study of the current situation. This allows us to make conclusions and preventive recommendations, which in the future can be introduced into the professional practice of not only social workers, psychologists, but also commanders and rehabilitants. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to explore the main individual and psychological determinants of the formation of destructive aggressiveness and to develop on the basis of these appropriate directions of rehabilitation work to prevent it from servicemen. Empirical methods (observation, expert assessment of staff psychologists and commanders) were used for the study in order to identify soldiers who had destructive aggression after engaging in combat operations, interviewing, forming experiment, testing with psychodiagnostic techniques. The developed corrective program revealed a positive dynamics of personality changes that began to occur in the behavior of servicemen under the action of the measures taken. The training resulted in a significant decrease in physical aggression, a slight decrease in verbal aggression, a slight increase in indirect aggression. It is proved that the individual correction of consciousness and behavior of each serviceman inclined to aggressive actions, as well as the neutralization of negative interpersonal influences, provoking aggressive manifestations in the military. Such prevention can be carried out during a stressful situation, manifestation of aggression or after the end of an aggressive state. This program can be carried out during the service in part and after returning from the area of hostilities.

Most of the philosophers deal with the quality of life, assuming a long span covering all phases. Therefore it is a commonly idealized life. But during the course the life as we advance, there are numerous riddles of self and the universe we live in it to encounter. Certain questions that have not only puzzled the common man but also the intellectuals had been like, Is there any meaning behind every happening? How ought we to live? Is there any life after death? Is death as such is the true end of all activities and so on. However, when the subject of death comes the answers through theories or philosophies have not been very convincing or suitable to all the rungs of the society. This could be mostly due to our evading the very subject of death much owing to the general uneasiness, fear and a sort of psychological insecurity, while dealing with it. Therefore it is always easy to raise philosophical questions than to answer them. There are almost two dozen theories in vogue which have certain basic assumptions but somehow they do not fall in the domain of truly scientific inquiry. They are to be accepted as an outcome of religious sentiments or wishful thinking. This paper highlights the salient features of Indian philosophical viewpoint with regard to death.

Psychological insecurity and interpersonal trust were empirically tested in a conceptual model in relation to several personality and social measures as theoretical antecedents, and to interpersonal relationships and feelings of life satisfaction as hypothesized outcomes. Questionnaire data from 301 Chinese adults showed psychological insecurity to be significantly and positively correlated with neuroticism and dependency, while negatively related to family emotional support, emotional intelligence, openness, and agreeableness; and the regression revealed neuroticism to be the strongest predictor of psychological insecurity. The results for interpersonal trust showed a significant negative correlation with psychological insecurity, and a pattern of correlations with all the other variables that were in the opposite direction of those for psychological insecurity; and the regression revealed agreeableness to be the strongest predictor of interpersonal trust. Interpersonal trust was also a significant predictor of coworker support and life satisfaction. The research identified behaviors that should be able to reduce psychological insecurity, and others that could increase interpersonal trust, with the overall results demonstrating the importance of being emotionally supportive and honest with other people to reduce feelings of psychological insecurity and increase interpersonal trust.
