This pilot study was conducted to compare eco-physiological responses to starfish (SF)-treated red peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) in organic open-field (OF) and greenhouse (GH) cultivations in commercial farmhouses, South Korea in 2019. Treatments included starfish-liquid fertilizer (LF) applied in OF (SF-OF) and GH (SF-GH) plots, and SF + seaweed in OF (SFS-OF) and GH (SFS-GH). Weekly pH levels in SFS-LF were fluctuated for a 16-week storage period at room temperature due to having higher soluble salt levels than those of SF-LF. All experimental plots were ranged on soil pH between 7.1 and 7.4. SF- and SFS-GH plots resulted in increased soil electrical conductivity, organic matter, and increased concentrations of total nitrogen, phosphorous pentoxide, potassium oxide, and magnesium oxide, as well as exhibiting a richer and more diverse bacterial community. Leaf width and length and plant height increased in plants cultivated in GH, with low canopy width and stem diameter also observed to have increased. Total fruit yields were approximately two times higher for peppers cultivated in GH compared to OF cultivated peppers.

Fertilization is one of the most important components of precision agriculture, ensuring high and stable crop yields. The process of spatial interpolation of soil sample data is recognized as a reliable method of determining the prescription rates for precise fertilization. However, the application of a free open-source geographic information system (GIS) software was often overlooked in the process. In this study, a method of precise fertilization prescription map creation was developed using an open-source GIS software to enable a wider and cheaper availability of its application. The study area covered three independent locations in Osijek-Baranja County. A method was developed for the fertilization of sugar beet with phosphorous pentoxide, but its application is universal with regard to the crop type. An ordinary kriging was determined as an optimal interpolation method for spatial interpolation, with the mean RMSE of 1.8754 and R2of 0.6955. By comparing the precision fertilization prescription rates to a conventional approach, the differences of 4.1 kg ha-1 for Location 1, 15.8 kg ha-1 for Location 2, and 11.2 kg ha-1 for Location 3 were observed. These values indicate a general deficit in soil phosphorous pentoxide, and precise fertilization could ensure its optimal content in the future sowing seasons.

Abstract Herein, a study of phosphate synthesis reactions with triethyl phosphate, phosphorous pentoxide and mixed alcohols is described. The synthesized phosphates are used as gelling agents in LPG fracturing fluids. By this study, a phosphate product with good performance has been obtain by screening different combination of alcohols and various reaction conditions including the ratios of reactants, reaction temperatures and reaction times. The LPG fracturing fluid prepared with the phosphate product we optimized maintains a viscosity of 200 mPa s for 1.5 h at 90 °C and 170 s−1 shear rate.

We demonstrated p-type conduction in MoS2 grown with phosphorous pentoxide via chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Monolayer MoS2 with a triangular shape and 15-µm grains was confirmed by atomic force microscopy. The difference between the Raman signals of the A1g and E12g modes for both the pristine and P-doped samples was 19.4 cm−1. In the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results, the main core level peaks of P-doped MoS2 downshifted by about 0.5 eV to a lower binding energy compared to the pristine material. Field-effect transistors (FETs) fabricated with the P-doped monolayer MoS2 showed p-type conduction with a field-effect mobility of 0.023 cm2/V⋅s and an on/off current ratio of 103, while FETs with the pristine MoS2 showed n-type behavior with a field-effect mobility of 29.7 cm2/V⋅s and an on/off current ratio of 105. The carriers in the FET channel were identified as holes with a concentration of 1.01 × 1011 cm−2 in P-doped MoS2, while the pristine material had an electron concentration of 6.47 × 1011 cm−2.

A number of new 5, 7-diaryl-1,5-dihydro (or 1, 2, 3, 5-tetrahydro)- pyrano [2, 3-d] pyrimidin-2, 4-diones (or 2-thioxo-4-ones) (3a-g) have  been synthesized in one-step by cyclocondensation of barbituric acid or thiobarbituric acid (1) with arylideneacetophenones (2a-d), in glacial  acetic acid in the presence of phosphorous pentoxide. The structures of the compounds 3a-g have been determined by UV, IR, 1H NMR, 13C  NMR, mass spectral data and elemental analyses.
