Currently, rhinitis accompanied by nasal obstruction is one of the most common diseases in children and adolescents. Regardless of the cause of its occurrence - an infectious or non-infectious (allergic) process, each time there is a vascular (vasomotor) reaction. In children of preschool and primary school age, the most common is infectious rhinitis, which develops with viral and bacterial infections. The group of non-allergic rhinitis, which develops more often in adolescents, is united by the term idiopathic (vasomotor) rhinitis.Purpose of the study. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the use of a complex preparation containing calendula, witch hazel, esculus, menthol and zinc oxide in the treatment of vasomotor rhinitis in children.Materials and methods. The study included 40 patients of childhood and adolescence, of both sexes (23 girls and 17 boys) aged 6 to 14 years with an established diagnosis of vasomotor (idiopathic) rhinitis, without concomitant pathology, not registered with specialists, without constant admission The study drug was used to lubricate the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity or put turundas with ointment for 3-5 minutes 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment was 7-10 days. The effectiveness of treatment was assessed by the dynamics of clinical data and the severity of the subjective symptoms of the disease.Results. A comparisons of these scores for re-assessing the status of patients relative to the timing of the study drug use showed a uniform positive trend in terms of the clinical picture and subjective complaints of patients.Conclusions. The inclusion in the complex therapy of pediatric patients with idiopathic (vasomotor) rhinitis of the drug Fleming’s Ointment, or monotherapy with this agent, contributes to a  rapid and pronounced weakening of  the  clinical manifestations of the disease, allowing you to quickly achieve positive treatment results in the form of relief of nasal obstruction, rhinorrhea, edema of the mucous membrane of the cavity nose, sneezing. There is a positive trend in the state of the mucous membrane itself.

Particulate matter (PM), a primary component of air pollution has been implicated in various respiratory and cardiovascular diseases and was found to be the 13th leading cause of mortality worldwide by the World Health Organisation. The concentration of PM10 (Coarse particulate matters with aerodynamic diameter between 2.5–10 μm ) was assessed for Aizawl City, Mizoram for a period of two years from June 2014–May 2016. The annual mean concentration of PM10 was found to fall within the permissible limit of the National Ambient Air Quality Standard and was highest in Khatla station (71.67 µg/m3) followed by Bawngkawn station (39.75 µg/m3) and Laipuitlang station (33.25 µg/m3) and the lowest annual mean concentration was seen in Mizoram University station (0.85 µg/m3). Seasonal variations have been observed in the mean concentration of PM10 with the highest concentration in winter season (51.3µg/m3±28.27)and the lowest in monsoon season (22.58 µg/m3 ±2.37). Despite the low concentration of PM10, a strong association was found between PM10 exposure and three types of respiratory diseases namely Corrosion of respiratory tract (CORT), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and vasomotor rhinitis (VR).

Background: The allergic rhinitis is one of the most miserable disease and most of the sufferers waste a lot of time in place of earning and at home. The main treatment of this disease is avoidance of allergen. There are many different ways to avoid allergens but it is not acceptable for many patients in the long term. These are use of nasal filter and face mask, change of job, change of city etc. Aim: To assess the effectiveness of air purifier in the management of allergic rhinitis. Methods: As this is not possible in many cases, doctors prescribe different medical treatments. Systemic therapy includes different types of antihistamines, immunotherapy and steroids such as nasal sprays and topical decongestants. Every treatment modality has its own complications like topical decongestants cause rhinitis medicamentosa which is very difficult to manage. Steroids are prescribed in oral or injectable form. It causes hypertension, gastritis and peptic ulcers, re-distribution of body fat, Cushing’s syndrome and hirsuitism. Moreover patient has lack of concentration, sleepiness and dryness of nose. In long term follow up these medical interventions are not effective as many patients are non compliant due to side effects of these treatment modalities. Now in this new era it is possible to clean our room air from allergens and other agents by different methods, which can prevent the allergic rhinitis. Results: We are dealing with only nasal allergies and not vasomotor rhinitis, which is a completely different disease as it involves autonomic nervous system. We advised patient to purchase and use air purifier at home and during duty in the office. Patient may use special mask containing HEPA (High Frequency Particulate Air Filter) filter when they are working outside Conclusion: Air purifier machine contains HEPA filter, which sucks the air of room and remove the particles of size up to, even viruses and bacteria are also removed. Now patients feel comfortable in this healthy environment and sleep without any symptoms like itching, rhinorrhoea, blocked nose and eye problems resulting in improved quality of life. Keywords: Allergic rhinitis, Particulate matter, Air purifier

Allergic rhinitis is the most common pathology among all allergic diseases. The article presents the epidemiologic and pathogenetic issues of the allergic rhinitis. The underdiagnosis of allergic rhinitis and its underestimation as a systemic pathology were observed in various countries. The importance of allergic rhinitis in paediatric practice, its impact on the quality of life, studies, and cognitive abilities is considered. The extranasal manifestations of the disease, as well as the role of allergic rhinitis in the development of increased respiratory viral morbidity are assessed. The differences between allergic and vasomotor rhinitis (non-allergic non-infectious rhinopathy) are analysed. Frequent interdependence and interaction of the allergic and vasomotor rhinitis are stressed. The signs of nonspecific hyperreactivity of the upper respiratory tract affected by the allergic rhinitis are presented. The role and importance of decongestants in the treatment of both allergic and vasomotor rhinitis are discussed in detail. Vasoconstrictors would help reduce hyperemia and nasal mucosa oedema, reduce the level of mucus secretion, improve the drainage of paranasal sinuses, normalizing the pressure in them. The use of a combination drug – a sympathomimetic combined with a local antihistamine agent would be the most appropriate treatment for patients with AR. The use of intranasal combination therapy for allergic rhinitis is justified: a sympathomimetic phenylephrine combined with a blocker of H1-histamine receptors dimethindene. The insights into the safety and efficacy of above drug combination in paediatric practice are presented. The use of a combination intranasal drug based on phenylephrine and dimethindene in patients with allergic rhinitis is justified in paediatric practice as both symptomatic and pathogenetic treatment. It is also advisable to administer it to treat acute respiratory viral diseases, in the post-viral period with situational exacerbations of the vasomotor component.

By performing lateralization of the inferior turbinate, the surgeon achieves an improvement in nasal breathing by increasing the lumen of the common nasal passage. However, to date, there are no clear indications for lateroposition of the inferior turbinate and there are no scientific data on its clinical efficacy. The aim of the study was to develop an original method of selective HHR osteotomy with its subsequent lateralization (luxation) based on the analysis of CT anatomy of the HHR bone framework. The article describes the measurements and makes a comparative assessment of the effectiveness of the “classical” lateralization of HNR and the original technique according to CT data. According to the results of CT analysis of SNP before and after surgery, patients were divided into 2 subgroups depending on the effectiveness of lateralization. The second stage was the analysis of the data obtained by CT of SNP in patients operated on with the original technique (n = 30). A positive result was obtained (achieved) in 100% of cases. The original technique of HNR lateralization developed by us has proven its effectiveness and safety, can be recommended as a minimally invasive, organ-preserving method of surgical treatment of vasomotor rhinitis and can reduce the number of reoperations.

A mathematical model of the neural network has been used to classify sick women with diagnosed allergic and vasomotor rhinitis in three forms: allergic rhinitis (ARhinitis), vasomotor rhinitis (VRhinitis) and mixed rhinitis (MRhinitis). When checking the incidence, the information-significant symptoms that we identified in the categories «Complaints» and “Objective status”, it was found that these symptoms are present in all forms of rhinitis and many of them are indistinguishable by the frequency of occurrence. These three forms of rhinitis with a triad of symptoms can be interpreted as an allergic disease of the nasal mucosa. Mixed rhinitis for the majority of information-significant symptoms in these two categories should be attributed to local allergic rhinitis (LAR). The full manifestation of information-significant symptoms in some patients depends on the duration of the disease and the individual characteristics of the body, which affects the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis and local allergic rhinitis. The term “Vasomotor rhinitis” should be excluded and interpreted as allergic rhinitis. We have convincingly proved that vasomotor rhinitis is a synonym for allergic rhinitis and is treated according to the standard of allergic pathology of the body. At present it is necessary to distinguish two forms of allergic rhinitis: allergic rhinitis, and local allergic rhinitis, depending on the identified information-significant symptoms in the patient at the time of the visit to the doctor.
