Background: Young adults, especially those under 35, are often overlooked; however, previous studies have shown that coronary artery disease (CAD) incidence increases rapidly. Previous studies proved many risk factors for CAD, such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, and smoking. The present study ultimately aimed to figure out the correlation between Hyperuricemia (HUA) and smoking in CAD Patients under the age of 35. Methods: This observational study included 100 young adults (18–35 years of age) suspected of CAD. We used the Gensini Score system to ascertain coronary angiography outcome and CAD; based on the number of affected vessels, localization of the segment, and the stenosis grade. The Gensini score being > 0 indicated the presence of CAD. Results: In young adults under 35, there was a significant correlation between HUA and CAD. The interaction between HUA and smoking had a contrast for CAD that statistically shown the existence of CAD increased in patients who have hyperuricemia and non-smokers compared to smokers. Conclusions: By monitoring various parameters in young adults ≤ 35 years old. This study strengthens the correlation between:1) hyperuricemia and the occurrence of CAD, 2) Smoking and the CAD. Furthermore, there is a clear association between HUA and the occurrence of CAD in non-smokers.

Abstract Understanding the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the well-being of vulnerable populations is essential in planning for care post pandemic and preparing for future pandemics. One such population often overlooked during the COVID-19 pandemic is older veterans, whose military service often results in physical and psychological effects that creates vulnerability to the impacts of COVID-19 beyond their age risks. The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between COVID-19 anxiety and well-being in older veterans. Survey data was collected from the end of June 2020 through August 2020 and examined the well-being of veterans during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research looked at the 122 veterans in the sample who were aged 65 and older. Age ranged from 65 to 94 years (M=73, SD = 5.0). The sample was predominately Male (90%), White (83%), educated (65%) and married (69%). Moderate to high COVID-19 anxiety was reported in 38 percent of the sample. Older veterans who reported moderate to high COVID-19 anxiety were 5 times more likely to report loneliness, 11 times more likely to meet the diagnostic cut off for anxiety, 3 times for depression, 2 times for PTSD, and 3 times for moderate to severe insomnia. Results revealed a clear association between COVID-19 anxiety and the well-being of older veterans. Findings have implications for ensuring well-being outcomes are restored in older veterans as cause for pandemic anxiety is reduced. Results also demonstrate older veterans should be recognized as a vulnerable population in preparation for care future pandemics.

AbstractCannabis and anxiety are both rising issues that impact young people. This review seeks to explore the association between anxiety and cannabis in adolescents and young adults (AYA). A database search was run retrospectively from July 2020 through calendar year 2013. Articles had to present outcomes examining cannabis use and symptoms of anxiety, be written in English, contain samples with ≥ 50% who are age 25 or younger, and be published in a peer-reviewed journal. Forty-seven studies were identified that examined the relationship between anxiety and cannabis use. Twenty-three studies found a positive association that greater anxiety among AYA was associated with greater cannabis use. In contrast, seven studies found a negative association that greater anxiety was related to less cannabis use. And finally, 17 studies found no clear association between anxiety and cannabis use. Further research is needed to better understand the relationship between anxiety and cannabis use.

We read with great interest the article by Mehta et al about the similarities and discriminators between giant cell arteritis (GCA) and the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).1 Viruses have been suspected to be implicated in the pathogenesis of GCA, especially the varicella zoster virus,2 but a clear association has not been confirmed.3

The Covid-19 pandemic offers a good opportunity for reflection on communication, journalism and health. This article sought to analyze how Folha de S. Paulo reported to Covid-19 in the first three months of the pandemic. It was a qualitative approach investigation and documentary support that analyzed the titles of articles published from January 1st to March 31st, 2020. The data were analyzed from the perspective of content analysis. The results showed that there was the construction of a narrative that sought to associate the virus with China, contributing to situations of xenophobia, and that the disease was thought of as a distant problem. It was also evident that, at least in the first moments, economic aspects gained greater visibility, with a clear association between health guidelines and the financial market, with little attention to the social determinants of health.

Antiphospholipid syndrome and cold agglutinin-mediated autoimmune hemolytic anemia are 2 distinct immune-mediated hematologic disorders. While no clear association exists between these 2 entities, complement activation is known to occur in both of them. Herein, we report a unique case of cold agglutinin hemolytic anemia in a patient with a known primary antiphospholipid syndrome.

This paper is a survey of the literature on the theoretical and empirical interactions among financial development, economic growth, and income inequality. Prevailing evidence on finance and economic growth suggests that financial intermediaries’ development significantly helps to enhance economic growth. In addition, previous studies show that financial development plays an important role in reducing income inequality. Empirical research on a Chinese case, however, shows varied empirical findings or no clear association between financial development and income inequality.

Abstract I explore the association between the severity of lockdown policies in the first half of 2020 and mortality rates. Using two indices from the Blavatnik Centre’s COVID-19 policy measures and comparing weekly mortality rates from 24 European countries in the first halves of 2017–2020, addressing policy endogeneity in two different ways, and taking timing into account, I find no clear association between lockdown policies and mortality development.
