In two experiments, we tested the influence of bringing to mind a memory of a special moment versus an ordinary moment on nostalgia and whether this elicited nostalgia was related directly to gratitude and the satisfaction of need for relatedness and indirectly to optimism and vitality. Participants from Mexico were first asked to state how the pandemic of COVID-19 has affected their lives. After, participants were randomly assigned to one of two conditions: Memory of special moment versus memory of ordinary recent moment (study 1) or memory of special moment versus or memory of ordinary moment from the same life period as the special moment (study 2). After, participants completed a battery of questionnaires assessing nostalgia, gratitude and optimism (study 1) or nostalgia, satisfaction of need for relatedness, and vitality (study 2). Results from study 1 showed a positive influence of bringing to mind a special moment on nostalgia. Nostalgia was positively related to gratitude, which was then related positively to optimism. Similarly, results from study 2 showed a positive influence of bringing to mind a special moment on nostalgia. Nostalgia was positively related to satisfaction of need for relatedness, which then had a positive relationship with vitality. In both studies, the indirect sequential effect of bringing to mind a special moment on optimism and vitality was significant.

This work investigated the microbiological quality and chemical profiles of two different dairy creams obtained by centrifugation vs. natural creaming separation systems. To this aim, an untargeted metabolomics approach based on UHPLC-QTOF mass spectrometry was used in combination with multivariate statistical tools to find potential marker compounds of the two different types of two dairy creams. Thereafter, we evaluated the chemical, microbiological and sensorial changes of a ricotta cheese made with a 30% milk cream (i.e., made by combining dairy creams from centrifugation and natural creaming separation) during its shelf-life period (12 days). Overall, microbiological analysis revealed no significant differences between the two types of dairy creams. On the contrary, the trend observed in the growth of degradative bacteria in ricotta during shelf-life was significant. Metabolomics revealed that triacylglycerols and phospholipids showed significant strong down-accumulation trends when comparing samples from the centrifugation and natural creaming separation methods. Additionally, 2,3-Pentanedione was among the best discriminant compounds characterising the shelf-life period of ricotta cheese (VIP score = 1.02), mainly related to sensorial descriptors, such as buttery and cheesy. Multivariate statistics showed a clear impact of the shelf-life period on the ricotta cheese, revealing 139 potential marker compounds (mainly included in amino acids and lipids). Therefore, the approach used showed the potential of a combined metabolomic, microbiological and sensory approach to discriminate ricotta cheese during the shelf-life period.

Tropical disturbances and cyclones are regularly formed at the Bay of Bengal basin. There are some common traits in them, albeit each one of them is unique. Discerning climatology for the basic features of any tropical cyclone is useful in numerous ways. This research has attempted to find a climatology for frequency, life period, energy, and speed for the tropical cyclones formed at the Bay of Bengal over a period of 31 years – from 1990 to 2020. The results elicit that there are marked changes in these aforementioned features. The total frequency, accumulated duration, and combined energy have escalated over the years. To be precise, these changes have taken effect more rigorously for the Post-monsoonal tropical cyclones. The overall translational speed has slightly diminished in recent years, except for the translational speed of cyclones formed during Pre-monsoon. These changes will have major ramifications on the lives and livelihoods of people, more so for those living in coastal areas. Stress and aging causes less life period that should be considered as a threat with respect to family. It causes unsatisfaction during life period of individual. It is a necessity and challenging to treat this disorder using herbal adaptogenic agents. This article presents causes of stress, the medicinal herbs as adaptogens, the marketed formulation of adaptogens and successive findings through it.

Individuals with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) commonly die from dementia-related causes, but little is known regarding caregiver experiences during the end-of-life period in DLB. This reflects a critical knowledge gap given the high frequency of informal caregiving for individuals with dementia, high caregiver burden in DLB, and the fact that most individuals with DLB die from this disease. Investigators conducted telephone interviews with family members of individuals who died with DLB in the last 5 years. Investigators used a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze interview transcripts. Participants included 15 children, 13 spouses, and 2 other family members. Interviews averaged 31 min. Major themes included caregivers as the main drivers of care for individuals with DLB throughout the disease course and at the end of life, the impact of DLB features (e.g., fluctuations, hallucinations, and delusions) on end-of-life experiences, experiences relating to the caregiving role, death and post-death experiences, and supports employed by caregivers in the end-of-life period. End-of-life experiences for caregivers of individuals with DLB built on the accumulated burden of the disease course, where caregivers were often responsible for driving DLB care—from making the diagnosis to educating healthcare professionals and double-checking medical decisions. While some end-of-life experiences were consistent with those described in dementia palliative care more generally (e.g., financial stresses, poor sleep, being overwhelmed, and needing increased education and support), many DLB features specifically affected end-of-life caregiver experiences, such as the presence of delusions. Improving caregiver experiences at the end of life in DLB will require improved diagnosis and care for individuals with DLB throughout the disease course and also better strategies for treating behavioral symptoms. More research is needed regarding drivers of quality end-of-life experiences for individuals with DLB and their families and how drivers and strategies may differ between dementias.

Despite the fact that many studies have examined the effectiveness of different gaseous postharvest treatments applied at low temperature to maintain table grape quality, the use of ethanol vapor has hardly been investigated. Thus, this work has studied the effectiveness of ethanol vapor-generating sachets in the maintenance of It 681–30 table grape quality, a new cultivar, during storage at low temperature and after the shelf-life period at 20 °C. To this end, various quality assessments have been carried out and the effect of the ethanol treatment on the expression of different genes (phenylpropanoids, transcription factors, PRs, and aquaporins) was determined. The results indicated that the application of ethanol vapor reduced the total decay incidence, weight loss, and the rachis browning index in It 681–30 grapes stored at 0 °C and after the shelf-life period at 20 °C, as compared to non-treated samples. Moreover, the modulation of STS7 and the different PR genes analyzed seems to play a part in the molecular mechanisms activated to cope with fungal attacks during the postharvest of It 681–30 grapes, and particularly during the shelf-life period at 20 °C. Furthermore, the expression of aquaporin transcripts was activated in samples showing higher weight loss. Although further work is needed to elucidate the role of ethanol in table grape quality, the results obtained in this work provide new insight into the transcriptional regulation triggered by ethanol treatment.

Although refrigeration and modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP) allow for an extended shelf life of cooked charcuterie products, they are still susceptible to bacterial spoilage. To obtain better insights into factors that govern product deterioration, ample information is needed on the associated microbiota. In this study, sliced MAP cooked ham and cooked chicken samples were subjected to culture-dependent and culture-independent microbial analysis. In total, 683 bacterial isolates were obtained and identified from 60 samples collected throughout the storage period. For both charcuterie types, lactic acid bacteria (LAB) constituted the most abundant microbial group. In cooked ham, Brochothrix thermosphacta was highly abundant at the beginning of the shelf-life period, but was later overtaken by Leuconostoc carnosum and Lactococcus piscium. For cooked chicken products, Latilactobacillus sakei was most abundant throughout the entire period. Additionally, 13 cooked ham and 16 cooked chicken samples were analyzed using metabarcoding. Findings obtained with this method were generally in accordance with the results from the culture-dependent approach, yet they additionally demonstrated the presence of Photobacterium at the beginning of the shelf-life period in both product types. The results indicated that combining culture-dependent methods with metabarcoding can give complementary insights into the evolution of microorganisms in perishable foods.
