The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of a principal strengthening training program. Data were collected using a survey, and the sample consisted of 380 school principals in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, who were training participants in 2019. The trends in the performance of the school principals were examined through descriptive statistics. The study found that the average principal’s performance was moderate, which meant that the strengthening training had a positive impact on their performance, but this effect was not significant. This may be because individuals participated in the training to fulfill duty obligations, not because of an intrinsic motivation to increase their competence. In addition, it is suspected that the initial appointment as school principal was not an independent choice, but at the insistence of another party. Therefore, the credibility of the process of recruiting school principals needs to be improved so that personnel who have real motivation and enthusiasm to increase school quality are chosen. Keywords: principal strengthening training, principal performance

Purpose: The primary purpose of this policy analysis is to examine how states changed their principal performance evaluation systems since the passage of Every Student Succeeds Act in 2015. In particular, we focus on whether states have capitalized on the flexible policy landscape to make space for meaningful family and community engagement (FCE) in assessing principals’ effectiveness. Research Methods: This study uses document analysis to review the structure of principal evaluation systems in all 50 states and selects 17 revised systems for a deeper review of their approach to leadership for partnering with families and communities. Findings: A plurality of states have not substantively revised their evaluation systems. Several of the revised systems narrowly focused on instructional leadership and student achievement measures and were thus unsupportive of meaningful FCE and federal policy aims for schools to work in partnership with family and community stakeholders. The principal evaluation systems most supportive of authentic family and community engagement allowed for flexible goal setting and explicitly encouraged the use of stakeholder feedback as evidence of principals’ effectiveness. Implications for Research and Policy: The authors discuss the implications of the results in terms of 1.) expanding definitions of educational leadership to include tenets of authentic FCE, 2.) creating coherent yet compendious systems for school improvement, and 3.) planning for and implementing a developmental approach to the evaluation of school leaders.

The principal needs training to have managerial skills to optimize his performance. Otherwise, several studies have shown the opposite. This study aims to examine the effect of exercise and managerial skills on principal performance. This study is field research with a simple path analysis design. Data were obtained through questionnaires, observation, and documentation study. This study shows that there is an effect of training and principal managerial skills on principal performance. This indicates that the more intense the principal attends training and has a deep understanding of training material, the higher the principal organizational skills are. The higher the principal managerial skills are, the higher the quality of the principal performance is, which in turn increases the rate of the school.

The Principal's Performance Assessment is carried out at the target schools which are the responsibility of the school supervisor. After the Principal's Performance Assessment was carried out at the target schools for the 2019/2020 Academic Year, the results were different from one school to another, even though they were under the same supervision of a supervisor. This is because the management and abilities of each school principal are different. With this Principal Performance Assessment, each school should be able to find a solution or try to display the school's color as best as possible. Based on the results of the assessment every year there must be improvements or improvements in the results achieved. Principal performance appraisal activities are carried out by supervisors at each target school for which they are responsible. When carrying out the assessment, the school supervisor conducts interviews, checks documents in accordance with the statement of each item in the instrument. The school supervisor gives an assessment of each item in the instrument according to the facts found at that time and no longer provides an opportunity for the principal to provide and complete something desired in the statement. Such actions are taken by supervisors, because the physical evidence required by the instrument statement must be carried out by the principal before the assessment takes place, especially since this activity is routine work every year.

Article visualizations:

Principals are the second-largest school-based contributor to student achievement. Interventions focused early in the “pipeline” for identifying and developing effective principals might be a promising strategy for promoting principal effectiveness, yet no prior research has examined measures of principal performance during preservice preparation. We analyze 31 measures of principal practices developed by New Leaders and integrate into their year-long, preservice Aspiring Principals program. We link these measures to administrative data in nine districts to understand how they predict student and principal outcomes after candidate placement. We find associations with gains in student achievement on standardized tests, gains in student attendance, and higher rates of principal retention. We compare our results with studies of measures from licensure exams and evaluation systems.

To simulate the behaviors of photovoltaic (PV) systems properly, the best values of the uncertain parameters of the PV models must be identified. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel optimization framework for estimating the parameters of the triple-diode model (TDM) of PV units with different technologies. The proposed methodology is based on the generalized normal distribution optimization (GNDO) with two novel strategies: (i) a premature convergence method (PCM), and (ii) a ranking-based updating method (RUM) to accelerate the convergence by utilizing each individual in the population as much as possible. This improved version of GNDO is called ranking-based generalized normal distribution optimization (RGNDO). RGNDO is experimentally investigated on three commercial PV modules (Kyocera KC200GT, Ultra 85-P and STP 6-120/36) and a solar unit (RTC Si solar cell France), and its extracted parameters are validated based on the measured dataset points extracted at generalized operating conditions. It can be reported here that the best scores of the objective function are equal to 0.750839 mA, 28.212810 mA, 2.417084 mA, and 13.798273 mA for RTC cell, KC200GT, Ultra 85-P, and STP 6-120/36; respectively. Additionally, the principal performance of this methodology is evaluated under various statistical tests and for convergence speed, and is compared with a number of the well-known recent state-of-the-art algorithms. RGNDO is shown to outperform the other algorithms in terms of all the statistical metrics as well as convergence speed. Finally, the performance of the RGNDO is validated in various operating conditions under varied temperatures and sun irradiance levels.

This paper presents a novel design of a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna system for next generation sub 6 GHz 5G and beyond mobile terminals. The proposed system is composed of a main board and two side boards. To make the design cost-effective, FR4 is used as a substrate. The design is based on a unit monopole antenna etched at the side substrate. The single element is resonating at 3.5 GHz attaining a 10 dB bandwidth of 200 MHz and a 6 dB bandwidth of 400 MHz. The single element is then transformed into an MIMO array of 8-elements with an overall dimension of 150 mm × 75 mm × 7 mm, providing pattern diversity characteristics and isolation better than −12 dB for any two radiating elements. A number of studies such as effects of human hand on the system that includes single hand mode and dual mode scenarios and the effects of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) over the principal performance parameters of the system are presented. The envelop correlation coefficient (ECC) is computed for all the scenarios and it is found that ECC is less than 0.1 for any case and maximum channel capacity is 38.5 bps/Hz within the band of interest. The main advantage of the proposed design over available designs in the literature is that almost all of the main substrate is empty providing wide space for different sensors, systems, and mobile technology components. A brief literature comparison of the proposed system is also presented. To validate the proposed model, a prototype is fabricated and results are presented. This design can be applied on higher frequencies to future micromachines for on chip communications using same theocratical approach as the space for higher frequencies in mmwave spectrum has been reserved. The simulated results are in an excellent agreement with the measured results. All the main performance parameters of the design are calculated and compared with the measured results wherever possible.
